Monstermile
From looking at ads and watching discussions it looked to me like the Fitbit was the hot thing this year. But everywhere I went today I saw piles of them. What is the big deal with these things. And did stores just over order anticipating high sales? bribri25
I think because they were EVERYWHERE and being sold by so many retailers and there's so many variations (even just of fitbits), as well as other brands of fitness trackers (Garmin, Samsung, etc.) that the supply just outweighed the demand. Jen08
My 13 DS wanted the $59 one at Walmart so my brother stood in line for an hour to get it for me while i stood n line for the Xbox. Funny thing is, he doesn't really need the Fitbit. He wants it bc that's what all the kids are wearing at school. I figure when he's tired of wearing it, I can just use it. Win win situation!
Kanyon71
I got one for my wife this summer. Seems pretty useless to me. I thought it did a lot more and used better tracking methods. I ordered her an Apple Watch yesterday from Target to replace it.
len_mullen
There are several models that do different things. https://www.fitbit.com/compare The Charge and Charge HB are very capable and can be had for $90/$119. These have a clock -- if you are going to wear something on your wrist, I think it ought to tell time -- and automatically detect sleep. They also have caller ID for your paired phone. For another $30, the HR tracks your heart rate which allows it to automatically detect exercise. The iPhone app is pretty slick. This device will not make you lose weight, but trying to achieve a step count goal might get you to take a walk after dinner and understanding your heart rate is the best way to notice when something is wrong. tinkrbel
As per usual, my mother let me know Saturday NIGHT that my brother had mentioned wanting one....I figure they'll be at least as cheap Cyber Monday. everyone has the charge for 89.99ish with different cashback amounts available here or there. I'm hoping target price will hold/lower and cashback will increase to take advantage of 5% with card Not sure what all the rage is. I have a cheap UP band, bought it for 24.99 when I started my weight loss mission. It helps keep track of steps/sleep and when combined with calorie tracker up (I use "my fitness pal") it shows progress. Kids may just want for popularity factor or maybe kids have a competition on steps or something? On its own it won't make a difference but if you're committed to fitness and/or weight loss it helps track stuff. One of these tracks heart rate as well which my cheaper option does not. MaryEllen2014
If you have a smart phone they do the exact things (except sleep monitoring) for free. Most have the app built into the health button
