len_mullen Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I bought my SMP-N200 streamers in 2012 so I would have the option to switch to Prime. We really liked our Fire tablets and had 'trialed' Prime at the beginning of the year. Seemed inevitable. I came close to subscribing before the price increase. I jumped on the $67 deal today. I will be watching it on a TiVo or a Fire TV rather than a SMP-N200. I am doing it as much for shipping as video. I will probably save $67 by Christmas. I am doing it because I am going to be buying an Amazon Fire Phone next month. Talk about stars aligning. Today from 12:00 a.m., ET, through 11:59 p.m., PT, Amazon is offering a year of Prime to new subscribers for $67. That’s 1/3 off their regular $99 price! Prime offers… FREE Two-Day Shipping on millions of itemsUnlimited, ad-free access to over a million songsInstant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows with Prime VideoFree unlimited photo storage in Amazon Cloud DriveRead free books each month through Kindle First and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library
shopping4my3son Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Too bad it is only for new membersI have heard you can buy it as a gift and then gift it to yourself. I haven't tried that.
Tigger97498 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I have heard you can buy it as a gift and then gift it to yourself. I haven't tried that.I can confirm that Amazon is not allowing that this time because I tried it myself. Very disapointed in them excluding their existing loyal prime members.
2chia Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I try it too. The prime giftcard still at $99. Bummer.
Kanyon71 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Len, I have heard they are going to stop selling the Fire Phone. Has been a HUGE sales letdown for them. I read an article that it has caused them to look again at many gadgets they have coming out. So with all the stock they have left you might be able to get a great deal on one. Just not sure what support is going to be for it though. I agree the $67 only for new is annoying. I wonder what their description of new is. Is it that you have never subscribed before? I use it for the free shipping we have WAY more than paid for it with that in the past couple of years. Last year we did all of our out of state Christmas shopping on Amazon and that alone covered the cost. Then with all the added shipping we got while buying stuff for our house was a bonus. Free is good and it being 2 day and free makes it even better, many times when I search Prime is one of the check boxes I tick off
racerfan Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Just sucks I have been a Prime member for years. The least they could do is give us a deal once in a while on the cost... 1
flosmoney Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I agree, we need a special deal. I have been a prime member for 4 years and a kindle owner since the kindle 2 version. What about loyalty for current customers. 1
chachn8r Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I had been contemplating getting prime for about a month, but this deal was just too good to pass up. I didn't realize all the perks of having prime, just thought it was 2 day shipping.
gatorburg Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I got it cause of the videos. I dont have netflix or hulu yet.
jaymacfla Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Just couldn't pull the trigger. I usually buy at least $50 or more (justifiably, not to get free shipping), or i go elsewhere.
Khobbs1 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 yeah, existing members are not getting much love
nini Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I couldn't pass up the special deal either. I've shopped a lot more on Amazon over the last year & with Christmas coming up (and with living in the middle of nowhere) it will save me a lot of time & frustration. Plus, the Prime video is a great bonus.
cwashi3324 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 (edited) I share my daughter's Prime Student account. It's free for a time. When it's close to time to charge, we'll drop it! I can't stand the fact that they are now charging sales tax in Ohio-that is one of the best things they had going before, not charging sales tax. Edited October 13, 2015 by cwashi3324

I can't stand the fact that they are now charging sales tax in Ohio-that is one of the best things they had going before, not charging sales tax. It's still a sale. If you weren't having to pay for sales tax in your state at all, it was a gift. I think many people got spoiled because of not having to pay sales tax on a sales purchase and now that reality is catching up, everyone is upset.
MaryEllen2014 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I just got a new Prime account by opening a new account. I just added my middle name, same address, no problem. This was actually recommended to me by Amazon lol
bclvr61889 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Not getting prime and may stop shopping AMAZON. I am tired of them raising prices on items and then making them a "prime" exclusive.
