What to do differently next year?

Watching oil and gas prices this fall, part of me thinks we should all stay home next year.  If we simply boycotted next November, I think we would all have a merrier Christmas as desperate retailers slashed prices in December.  Can I get a show of hands of all who are willing to stay home next November?

I would like to say yes but we all know I would cave and have to participate in BF anyway :)

I don't know where I will be next Thanksgiving/Black Friday, but I do not expect to be making a road trip half way across the country next year, and that will do wonders for my Black Friday shopping (and if I did, I would probably extend the trip by a day so I would not be starting my drive home ON Black Friday).

What will I do differently? NOT plan a baby shower for the weekend before! :)

Oh my! I know Monday of BF week snuck up on me fast so cant imagine how much worse that was for you. That really throws off your ability to concentrate on BF. Congrats to the parents-to-be though.

I was really out of my element this year because I had a horrible cold. I forgot to go through my online shopping portals and missed out on quite a bit of cash back, I didn't make a list and forgot 3 people I need to buy for, and I forgot to buy extra gifts for my daughter's various birthday parties she gets invited to.

Next time, I will make a list, remind myself to use the cash back sites even if I have to staple a note to my forehead, and wait until BF to order anything from Ulta. Their free with purchase gifts were MUCH better on BF. I had to re-order several things and wait for them to shlp to me to return. I will also be extra careful ordering from them because you cannot alter or cancel an order online. Such a pain in the butt!

Probably Nothing, the longer your around the more you realize 60 % of it is the same every year, Here's a tip like every year, order the movies online and then pickup in stores what you see that you have to have.  Then a $10 dollar return is nothing.  As always stay up till the ads drop order must haves then rest shop till I drop then do it again until the doorbuster prices are off sale, then return whatever I don't decide to giveaway and laugh at the suckers paying full price while returning what I don't need.  B/c obviously I got a better deal, some things never change.   Always make a list of Have to, Want to, Then Browsing Items.  Don't fight the stores for movies fight the stores for laptops, and other items that you missed out online.

I bought a bunch of blu-rays from Best Buy and Walmart online. Went out on Black Friday and found some I paid $9.99 for $5.99 at the NEX(Navy Exchange) such as Dwayne Johnson's Hercules. I had to do some returning, lol. But I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. What I like about Best Buy's store pick-up is that if you don't pick it up, it gets cancelled. Saved me a trip for a refund, lol.

Definitely save more money! This year was just rough.

My dad had a stroke, and was in the hospital for a week. I was exhausted from daily trips to the hospital, then coming home and taking care of my sick mother at home. Then he came home and thanksgiving hit.

I'll also start planning earlier as far as what to get for people. And I won't be cooking two thanksgiving dinners either! It won't happen!!! I don't know how I got talked into that.
