borail
Well I know this will probably get more negative if not all negative reaction which is fine but I do have some things I want to buy this year I plan on keeping but just wondering if anyone buys stuff just to resale and if so what? I did find one item I thought about buying and resale so far butI think Im just going to buy for keeps. Anyways love to hear peoples thoughts on this. hack2222
Not really a point in doing it, unless your buying something thats a price error to sale, otherwise you waste more effort than what its worth.
jmcdon00
7 or 8 years ago my buddy and I waited all night in front of Toys r Us to buy Zune media players, just so we could resell them. They were $200 everywhere else but we got them for $100. Last minute we bought some other things that were on sale, nintendo DS and accessories. Really wasn't worth it. We did make some money on the Zune but the other stuff we just broke even on. Really wasn't worth the effort, although we did have a great time waiting in line. peppysfireball
I think it's very wrong. there are people trying to get presents for their children who couldn't afford them otherwise and for people to buy them to resell for a higher price to me is very very wrong.
Nate Dogg
I buy a backup straight talk phone every year and, if mine is still in good shape, I sell my backup phone the first week in November. Typically make about $20 as I have been lucky enough not to break a phone yet. The only reason i do not upgrade my phone every year instead is I hate going through all the trouble. Nate Dogg
I guess another thing I do is occasionally someone will ask me to pick something up for them since they know i will be out and about... I will typically mark the item up a few dollars for the trouble and risk of having to fight the crowds to get the item. You never know when someone will run off with your shopping cart while your back is turned.

Jen08
I have wondered this same thing. Ive never bought anything just to resell it and honestly am on the fence about how I feel about it...
hack2222
The point of the forum is to share the deal with others, If your going to just make profit off the deals why should the posters bother to help you make money. Its post like these that make me cautious of what I post, do we really want to help others make a profit off an error, or a price mistake from some company when in all likelyhood I could just do the same thing myself. The more posts like these that I see the less I want to help others find a deal, we've all got the same amount of time in a day, if your out to make money you've got access to the same internet with sites that I do when I find a deal, Good Luck.
Kanyon71
About all we do is pick up things for friends while we are out then it's a break even prospect. We did it again this year got my friend and his wife iPad mini's for their kids they paid us back exactly what they cost so no profit there. I see people going out of the stores with buggy loads of stuff that my only thought is that they bought this stuff for re-sale (happened a lot at BestBuy which we didn't even go to this year). That always really annoyed my that they took stuff from others to try and make a profit. Then I would see them again a couple weeks later when they couldn't sell them all having to return them and my frown turned into a smile knowing they wasted their time and got next to nothing out of it (I think I may be slightly mentally wrong lol)
elena_398
I've never even thought of it. I know a couple who are selling a lot of the cheap tvs on facebook (virtual garage sale sites that sell in my area). People are calling them on it, but new rule of the admins there is if your not interested don't comment. Would love to tell the buyers though how cheap they bought it for! Not my business but my frugal side cringes when someone buys it for the inflated price.
sas377
I'm all for it. I like the entrepreneurial, capitalist spirit. Who is anyone to tell someone they are doing something wrong when it's completely legal? I never understood why people get all worked up over this.
Illinoismom
I find it wrong when you have parents trying to find the hottest toy, only to be sold out every where than 3 or 4 times the original cost on Ebay., Knowing that a parent will go to almost any lengths to get their child that one thing that they want
Pnambic
The problem is the blind desperation for "that toy", not the reselling of Black Friday deals. If you get a deal on Black Friday, great. But come on people, toys aren't the end all be all of Christmas. Kinda missing the point, aren't we? I'm on the entrepreneurial side of this argument. Of course, if the company selling the product is PR wise, they'll try to make as many people happy as possible and limit the number of items per purchaser, but that's a different argument.
msomnipotent
I did it once when Tickle Me Elmo was hot, but I really needed the money as we were living off of our savings at the time. I made just enough to pay for Christmas presents. I got into an argument with a Target cashier the year those Fisher Price cameras were hot because she accused me of being a reseller and was pretty nasty to me. I have 5 nieces and nephews all around the same age and they all wanted one of the cameras. She even tried to refuse giving me the gift receipts until another cashier diffused the situation. I don't think reselling is worth my time and I have too many people to buy for to worry about getting extras. And maybe I'm just out of the loop, but I really haven't noticed anything so hot along the lines of Cabbage Patch and Elmo for a long time. Maybe the Frozen dolls this year, but we were still able to get it on sale with a little effort.
Deal Grabber
I use too when the kids were younger.I made alot of money buying and selling them on ebay. it was how i paid my bills and was able to give my kids christmas. Stopped doin ebay as the rules got so harsh and the fees for selling and shipping have gone through the roof.

It helped pay our bills, and was able to get my kids things they needed and wanted.
bribri25
Retailers do the same thing to consumers by buying from the manufacturer and then inflating the price and selling it to you "on sale"...
