Bopeep
I have a Bluetooth speaker on my desk, that is linked to my iPhone. I prefer that to a docking station, so that the phone is not tied down (so to speak). Having said that, I don't know what's best. Mine is "Creative" and I haven't had any trouble with it.

That might be a better idea since I'm sure he' wouldn't want it stuck there the whole time. Plus has it in a case so I don't know if it would be able to sit in it while in the case. Thanks! Kanyon71
I bought one for my Wife a few years ago and she loved it until the power supply died. I've been thinking about another now and I'm going to go with something that supports BT and more so AirPlay. This way I don't have to worry about it if they change their connector again, which would have made her dock pretty useless once we upgraded phones. We could have kept using it but would have need an adapter which would have made the phone no longer fit in the dock not to mention we could never hook the ipad to her dock. Wireless transmission is the way to go the thing I liked about AirPlay is the phone/device only needs to be on the same network as the speakers not close enough for BT to work. BT makes it great for other things though that aren't on the Apple Ecosystem.
lucyred
I just found Beats by Dre Pill 2.0 on groupon for $155. Thoughts?
Kanyon71
Beats in general is decent but very heavy on the bass. I have not heard much about their stuff outside of the headphones. I have a set of them that I got as a present and overall I am pretty happy with them. NOW having said that don't go ask an audiophile or they will tell you they are garbage lol. I do tend to agree with one thing they say and that's that they are over priced. Then again I can say that about a LOT of things.
Pnambic
Woot just had some nice Klipsch bluetooth speakers a couple days ago. You just missed it.I like and trust JBL and Klipsch when it comes to speakers, but there's no substitute for listening to the speakers in person. I too would generally steer clear from Beats. You're paying to support a very large marketing department there... I might be tempted to try something like this as well...http://www.yugster.com/deals/63262-vizio-32-inch-home-theater-sound-bar-with-bluetooth Edited November 7, 2014 by Pnambic
Megara211
Personally as someone who has had iPod touch(s) since they came out (pre-iPhone), wireless speakers are the way to go! Most cases don't work with docking stations and long term if it is not handled with great care plugging in and unplugging it will cause damage to the phone.

Kash
Thanks for starting this thread. DD upgraded her phone and needs a new one. I like the idea of the blue tooth instead of a dock.
catholicbride11
I really like my docking iHome speakers. It charges my phone super fast and I can listen to music too. When I had an otterbox on it it didn't work right but with a slim case on it it fits just fine.
bpr
Thanks for starting this thread. DD upgraded her phone and needs a new one. I like the idea of the blue tooth instead of a dock. True, but you have to hook up your charger to charge it at the same time. The docks are nice for charging while playing, but also have their downside as you might have to take it out of it's case to do it. You can't have your cake and eat it too, lol.
