EliteABombAZ Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I am thinking of getting an HDTV to go with my new XBox 360, but can I get some opinions on this one... or some opinions on going with something refurbished rather than new. This TV sells for: $604 NEW at Walmart$699 NEW at Target$750 NEW at Circuit City but... $388 SHIPPED as a refurb from the Phillips Online Outlet store! http://tinyurl.com/av3mc
BigBob Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 If it says "Philips" on the label, I run. And, refurbished too ? Two strikes !
maddjax2 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I've had good luck with Philips products, and also refurbished. I like refurbished stuff, believe or not, because it's usually been looked over a lot closer than "new" stuff. JMO, YMMV.
daz Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I've never had problems with phillips products. Just read the fine print on the return policy and get some kind of warranty, even if it's only a 2 week warranty. Leave it on for a couple days straight, if it makes it you should have no problems.
kgrant Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Keep in mind, that unit doesn't have a built in tuner! Many of the stations transmit HDTV signals FREE over the airwaves and it produces great pictures. I wouldn't want to be tied down to having to use it with a cable hookup.
EliteABombAZ Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 I cannot live without cable... so I don't need a tuner.
malachitecat Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Since the late 90s I have had almost nothing but phillips products in my house (the exception being a dvd/vcr combo). My current tv is a 27 inch phillips that I bought in '97. It has survived 6 moves and a small tumble down the stairs and works just like the day I bought it.
