dealluvr Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 what are tree prices in your area? our lowes wants 49.99 for a 6 ft fir.that's the only one i looked at so far.most places around here tho they go for 25 and up.
decafmom Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 We usually go to a tree farm and cut our own, and we usually pay around $75 for it. I know it's steep, but it's a tradition. :)
Guest waggy Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 hmm i have a fake tree. I think its cruel and wrong to to cut a tree down just to decorate the house. But i have seen Christmas trees going for $30-45 here.
decafmom Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 I certainly don't think that cutting down a tree to decorate our house is crel and wrong. The place we buy ours from is locally owned and is a Christmas tree farm. This means that the family that runs it makes income based on growing and selling these trees. I don't see a thing wrong with that.
dealluvr Posted December 4, 2005 Author Posted December 4, 2005 the tradition thing about it is awesome!
Booterbunz Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Around here, they run anywhere from $15 on up. I paid no more than $25 last year. I'm having a hard time remembering! This year will be a fake tree year! :)
stacimarie Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Most people around here go off in the woods and just cut one. I personally bought a fake prelit. I like it though.
CBC Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Im allergic and havent had a real tree since I was little. However I have seen the signs for a tree lot and they start at about $50.
msomnipotent Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 I just bought mine last night. No one had the decent fakes in stock, so we hunted around for a real one. We paid $6 per ft. I know Lowes, HD, and Menards all wanted about $15-$25 per tree, but no one had any tall trees. We wanted 8 or 9 ft.
Bestbuy7 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 wow.. 50 dollars + for real trees. Around here its 20.00 I guess it because i live in the city
dealluvr Posted December 4, 2005 Author Posted December 4, 2005 but how tall of a tree do you get for 20 bucks?
KBsDarling Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 just bought ours today. Paid $30 for a 9ft spruce I personaly think its cruel to have a fake. I mean all those poor dinosaurs that had to die off to create the fossil fuel to make all that plastic...shameful! Whats the code for the rolling eye smilie?? LOL
Bestbuy7 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 but how tall of a tree do you get for 20 bucks? Its 8ft.. I paid 170 for my 7ft fake tree
KBsDarling Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 LOL ty Need to print off the code list here :)
shopping mom Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 We go to Taylors Do It Center. They usually have some trees for ten dollars. I am not going to pay more than 15 for a tree though.
Beau6183 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 just bought ours today. Paid $30 for a 9ft spruce I personaly think its cruel to have a fake. I mean all those poor dinosaurs that had to die off to create the fossil fuel to make all that plastic...shameful! Whats the code for the rolling eye smilie?? LOLActually, fossil fuels are antient trees and plants, so it's all the same in one form or another
ryka Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 We normally pay $50 for a tree and that's even with a discount cause I know the guy that sells them. I wish I could find a place that has them for 20.00. I live in the city too exactly 5 mins from NYC. You never see a tree for sale for only $20.00.
Armybrat0710 Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Im in washington state and yesterday I got a 5.1/2-6 foot fir for 17.99 on sale from 27.99. From rite aid
queenofshopping Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 just got ours from home depot today, prices were $25-$50 for regular-size trees we got a 9ft fir i believe for $35...the ones for $30 are the most popular walmart here tho had them for $18-32, & local places average about $30-40
alimfp Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 We get ours from a tree farm and have them cut it for us. They run between $25-$100 depending on type and height. The one we are getting this year will probably be right around $30 as that is what I have a coupon for.
Kayakmom Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 The price totally depends on the type of tree. Fraser firs, for example, are generally much more expensive than other types but I just love them! This year we're having a fake tree. As for cutting down the trees, I am an absolute tree lover. I even have a tree tattoo, lol. The trees that we use for Christmas trees are grown specifically for the purpose and they do provide income to the people who grow them. If there wasn't a need for them, the people wouldn't be growing them. While the trees are growing, they provide all of the benefits to the environment and are well cared for. When they are cut down, they are replaced with saplings. The tree farmers grow and plant accordingly each year. I lived in Vermont for a while and actually considered starting a Christmas tree farm on our 20 acres, lol.
smfritz03 Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 We just bought one last night---we paid $33--its 7 ft and absolutely beautiful--my fav. tree yet (will have to post a pic of it!!! ) I did notice it ranged from $15 up to $80 w/ the Blue Spruce and the Fraser firs being the highest priced. Last year we had the softer kind but all the ornaments kept falling off---so we went w/ the typical poinky christmas tree!!!
Kandy Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 They range from $35- $75 depending on the type of tree
lafevem Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 We paid about 83.00 for an 81/2 foot tree this weekend. We have a nice pre-lit artificial but dh insists on a real tree. Oh well, the kids like it.
nikkilugi Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 We buy Frazier Firs which are WAY more expensive than any of the other trees for some reason but I love them too. We paid $75 from a lot here in Kansas City for a 6 1/2 ft. tree. Very expensive but the tree was much, much nicer than the crappy ones they were selling at Home Depot.
motherof1 Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 we also buy frazier furs and paid 80 in Arkansas
decafmom Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 We got our tree today. It's a 7.5' Fraser Fir that we paid $79.50 for.
oldvter Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 We got a 7' Douglas Fir at Lowe's for $27 Great deal!!!
