Gloey
A friend of mine just bought a new tv and I asked her if she got a plasma and she said no because their life span is only like three years! Has anyone heard this before?
adewrell
I have heard that it's more like 5 years and that is if you leave the tv on 24 hours a day EVERY day. I have had my plasma for 3 years and it still works perfectly. I just have to have it serviced once a year (which is covered under the warranty) to make sure that the tubes are still working properly.
killershroom
You are looking at about 30,000 to 60,000 hours of use. Just depends on the quality and company.
angel-too
Consumer Reports has some great info on different types of TV's. I shyed away from the plasma because of the "burn-in" effect. www.consumerreports.org/cro/electronics-computers/tvs.htm
nat1jen
I have heard that LCD's have a much longer life than plasmas. But, I don't know if that's fact or just a way to sell LCD tv's.
