bayhaysay Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 Does anyone have one of these? My SIL is thinking of getting one for my niece but they're like $100 so she doesn't want to get it if it's not worth it.TIA:)
RossMAN Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 The reviews seem to be mixed, scroll to the bottom to read the reviews:http://www.gottadeal.com/goto.php?http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/toys/B0007UB5YS/
bayhaysay Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 Hmm, sounds like a bunch of batteries for a $100 doll that may or may not work correctly. Thanks RossMAN, I'll forward that to her. Or maybe I'll tell her to come over here and look for herself.:)
daworths8 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 My daughter asked for this, it was her BIG thing she wanted, after I saw it was $100 I said NO WAY! She has some behavorial problems and I just couldnt justify spending 100 on her right now (just for that 1 thing). So I told her we could maybe work on a goal for her in the future, when behavior/grades pick up, and hopefully price goes down. I got her a Furby for now.
pnlcooper Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Funny thing about this doll, the voice of the doll is my cousin. She was paid to record all these phrases and sounds for this product. We got one as part of their testing phase and my daughter loved it, it was great it worked well. The only problems we had, was it was heavy and once she started losing the parts it wasn't fun anymore.
angel-too Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 That's cool. How did she get that "job"? And how old is your cousin?

Cool,,,must be strange for your cousin to hear her own voice on a doll. lol What do you mean in "she started losing the parts"?
Guest all2tired Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 My daughter asked for 2 things. A bike and Amazing Amanda. I got it on sale at TRU plus used a $10 GC forgot the $5 off $25 coupon listed on GD. Can't tell you anything about the doll though since it's for Christmas
natasha Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 My 10 year old daughter had an Amazing Allie doll, when she was 5. She only played with it for a couple weeks. She didn't like to carry it around and it she got tired of it talking. Also, it came with different items(tea cup, birthday cake, etc...) that triggered it to say different things. Once she lost them, the doll was boring. I would read carefully, before I purchased the new one.
mombbsmj Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My just turned 11 year old also had the Amazing Allie doll when she was about 5 and frankly it was a big waste of money. I think the only time she really played with it was Christmas morning, then all those tiny parts got lost and it was a heavy doll to be lugging around. She played a lot more with the $20 doll that looked the same but did nothing.
brownlands Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My daughter wanted Amazing Amanda too. After a lot of thought, I have decided that it just isn't worth spending so much money on one doll for a 6 year old. By next year, it will probably have a "new haircut" and "makeup" (aka scissors and markers).
Kandy Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Amazing Allie, was shoved into my daughters closet. She got it when she was 6 now DD is 12. It was played with for about a month. Once you loose the accessories ie books were corded and you had to plug them into her. I think she resently put it in a goodwill bag (still works)...just never held her attention that long.

hpowers Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I may be wrong but people are confusing the two dolls. This Amazing Amanda doll is improved from the Allie doll.
Mommie2one Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My niece wanted this, but I think I 'll pass. There is an adorable Chou Chou doll that I'll opt for instead. Good price at Target though
pnlcooper Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My cousin was 7 at the time she did this, it was used in dolls previous version too. She was overheard by one of the product developers at a soccer game and offered job. What I meant by losing the parts, was my daughter lost the spoon that interacts with doll, then the juice box, etc. So without the cool interactive part this was just a really heavy clunky doll. Granted my daughter was 3 at the time, so maybe an older child would be more responsible with the pieces. It is very cool, I would place it for like 7-10 years old in my opinion to get the most interaction from it and make it worth the cost.
ryka Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My daughter wanted amazing amanda but I heard some bad reviews about it not recognizing the childs voice as her mommy. I decided to get the new baby anabelle doll for her. I think it will be easier for her to play with.
Melissa Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 If you're gonna spend that kind of money on a doll, I'd go for an American Girl doll instead.
babycleat Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My niece wanted this, but I think I 'll pass. There is an adorable Chou Chou doll that I'll opt for instead. Good price at Target thoughWhat is Target's price on Chou Chou? I've seen it at TRU for $29.99 on sale last weekend and purchased it (it came in a package w/ extra clothes, bear, cd, diaper, etc...). Looks like it does quite a bit for that price. It's for my 4 year old....
Gporter34 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I thought she was a little creepy. She reminds me a little of Chucky, especially when she says, "I love you more than bunnies!" Kind of creeps me out.LOL
hpowers Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I wish people would leave this doll alone. It's a cute doll for a little girl.
