lsdlsd0 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Lottery. Hand out tickets and draw names for the chance to purchase a laptop. You have to be present to win. It would end camping out, fights and all the rest of it because there would be no point. I think it's only a matter of time until advertising a sale and then stocking only 15 laptops is outlawed anyway. I think the stores should be required to have a reasonable stock on hand, or else give rain checks. Of course if that happened you wouldn't see these $350 laptops, because the stores count on attracting 600 people at 5 a.m. but they only figure on losing money on a lousy 15 laptops. This would also prevent people from selling/trading the vouchers. They can't call it a lottery for legal reasons; it is more of a "sweepstakes" where the prize is ability to buy the item.
emptynest-2 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 First, the store needs to physically count the hot items that they have in stock. This should be done the Wednesday night after the store closes. Second, at around midnight, pass out numbered vouchers for each hot item. ie 1 of 14 with the items description on it. The reason for passing the vouchers out around midnight it because the longer the line has to form the more friends and family starts to show up and jump line. And this would be 1 voucher per person. The BB in little rock we had a "Will He Made It" which was nice. You would still stand in line because of the other items on sale that don't have vouchers. The vouchers would be for; computers, plasmas, cameras, whatever was their drawing card. Whatcha think?
HollyBerry Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Line queues that only allow a certain #. The first 20 or so people are in a roped off line queue. Then start the other line queue, seperated from them.
