phatferd Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I want the laptop at Wal-Mart so I will be camping out at 12:00am to guarantee myself getting one. I plan to map out my route the day before. When the door opens do I just RUN to the computer department and grab a box that has the laptop in it? Will it be on a display? Or do I just go up to the counter and tell the person I want the laptop and they ring me up? I would hate to wait in a line thinking I just tell him what I want to find out I needed to grab it off a shelf or display and miss out.
saturnboy01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Yes. Walmart works that way. They dont care who gets hurt as long as they sell out of their hot items for that day. Trust people people will push, run, stomp on you to get one of those pcs/laptops.....
laffnatu Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Is your Walmart a 24 hour one? If so, you can go inside and scope around to see what everything is. Pallets can be anywhere in the store. They put them in crazy places sometimes. Some places may give out cards to get one. My local Walmart is first come first serve. The only thing they are giving out cards for is the Xbox 360..but other stores may be differant. The electronics guy said last night , that they won't even bring out the pallets for the computers until 5am.

And most of the time, unfortunately, it can be hard to tell where they are. I know one year, the first year the DVD players went to $30, they put them in the groceries section!! If you are friends with anyone that works there you would do good to ask them about it.

saturnboy01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Our local "24hr" walmart shuts down for a few hours to hide the merchandise throughout the store. The laptops can be found ANYWHERE....clothes, pet food, grocery, etc....These Walmart people turn the cameras on and watch these people scramble around the store finding the merchandise.

I will be so pissed if I stood in line for 5 hours to get in and run all over and by the time I found the laptops they were taken by people way behind me in the line. Do the employees know where they are going to set them up? If I found a cool manager who was willing to give me the information or do they not know until they put them out?
