Gloey Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Ok, so you purchase a fairly large big ticket item for a gift and the price is after rebate. You usually have to send in the UPC code, receipt and all, so what do you do if you are giving this item as a gift? I hate rebates!
Guest all2tired Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Call the company that is offerring the erbate and see if they will accept a photcopy of the upc since you are giving this as a gift. Make a copy of the reciept for your records and in case there is a return necessary
msomnipotent Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 It depends on the price of the gift. If it is more than the norm for our gifts, I will discreetly ask them if I can have the upc code once they make sure the item works. I just give them the rebate form if it's less.
nellyhill Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I would cut out the UPC and tell them why. Everyone I know knows I do not have a lot of money.
Jenniferharrison82 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I would do the same, but I hate rebates...I like saving money, just hate the hassle.
cami_reardon Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Yeppers, just cut out the UPC. Works fine for me too!!
biomajor Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I cut out the UPC and then I give it to them--unfortunately that keeps them from returning it, but that's fine with me!
alimfp Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I cut out the UPC. Everyone I gift knows how I work. If they think I'd give them a gift without sending in the rebate that went with it, they are the ones who are nuts.
Princess7915 Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I only by AR gifts for my hubby or immediate family. I know those people won't be offendend if I cut up their boxes!! They cut up mine too!
