Just wondering, the gas prices are at an all-time high right now, so consumers spend less on products. I wonder if there will be more or fewer people this year for the Black Friday special?

I thought the all-time high was the previous two months? From what the news has been reporting for the past 2-3 weeks, gas is now going down (not much but some).

That said, the prices are still inflated a bit of course, but that wouldn't keep me from going out to do my BF shopping. :) I think if it keeps anyone home, it will be those that live FAR away from stores in the first place.

It could keep some away, but on the other hand, with prices higher and budgets tighter it might draw more people out hoping that they could stretch their money further and buy more gifts with the same amount of money. As for my particular situation, I live in NJ and our gas right now I can find for $1.95 a gallon. High from a historical perspective, but cheap considering what it was back on Labor Day. I fear heating cost more than my car gas, so I have about a $200 cushion in my heating budget hoping I cover my overall usage. I am going out on BF because I want to get the most for my money and because I am frugal! Everyone loves a good deal :tongue1: .

I think with gas prices dropping, it may bring more people out. Some will think well instead of spending $60 to fill my tank it will only take $30-40 so that extra christmas money. Plus everyone loves a good deal!

I think you are right, I have been stashing the extra gas money to use on BF. Every little bit helps.

I think people like me who are true BF shoppers will go no matter what. Right now the cheapest gas here is $2.52 a gallon. (At it's high it was $1.00 more.) I have to drive 74 miles each way and I am still gonna do it...woulda done it @ $3.50 a gallon. Now it may stop some...but I believe it's just an excuse on their part and if they couldn't use it..they would find another one.

If gas was still at the $3.09 it topped out at after Katrina, I wouldn't be driving the 80 miles to the Little Rock Best Buy to camp out for the desktop, but since the prices have drop back below $2 ($1.98) , its once agian worth the trip.

Gas prices here in Phoenix are finally going down a bit. Even though, I'm about a block from Walmart and 4 miles from a supercenter, so no stopping me. :gd_orange:gd_steeri

I am about an hour and a half from you. What are you paying there for gas? I know it's at least 10 cents higher on our side than the AZ side. We usually try to go to Ehrenberg to get gas.

There will be the same amount of people, but buying less. And instead of them normally spending $800 on a computer for Christmas, they are going to be fighting me for the doorbuster. There might even be more people since money is tight for most people now. They would plan to buy things on sale instead of waiting until the last minute and possibly paying full price.
