Marcster Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Buckwheat -- What's the diff. between a PX and a BX?
Winterhawk Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Ohio teachers pay no sales tax on computers and computer periphrials (monitors, printers, HDs, etc). Does not apply to consumables like DVDs, CDs, printer ink, paper. See your school office for the exempt form. Be prepared to show a copy of your teaching certif too.
buckwheat_jegc Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Buckwheat -- What's the diff. between a PX and a BX? PX stands for Post Exchange which is found on an Army installation and BX stands for Base Exchange, which is found on An Air Force or Navy installation, although AAFES owns both of them (Army, Air Force Exchange Service).
buckwheat_jegc Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 i can go over the bridge to delaware there is no tax there i am toldYou're right!

Seems like it would be simpler if they had the same name, since they're both run by AAFES. What do the Marines and Coast Guard have?
DKS88 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Thanks... Seems like it would be simpler if they had the same name, since they're both run by AAFES. What do the Marines and Coast Guard have? Marines have MCCS and Coast Guard has NEX. Strange isn't it, but hey 0% taxes for me!!!!
buckwheat_jegc Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Thanks... Seems like it would be simpler if they had the same name, since they're both run by AAFES. What do the Marines and Coast Guard have? The Marines and the Coast Guard are both supported by the NEX (Navy Exchange Service). They tend to have better prices sometimes, too, and a better inventory.
Angiee Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 5% for me in Ga, however, I will be Bham AL for BF so that will be 8%. Some items I get my mom to get, she is in Dover DE and yep no taxes for her.
Angiee Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I can ditto that, I am a Navy Brat, borned and raised, most of the Navy Exchanges are better. Dad retired in an Air Force town and there is the AAFES, it is okay and sometimes you can find good deals.
Angiee Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Sorry for the grammatical error, I was born and raised!!lol
cami_reardon Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Nebraska is 7% (at least in Omaha area). Not sure about anywhere else though.
Beaniejumper Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 New Hampshire here! Gotta love no tax!! :)
launaenix Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 We here in the southern part of Louisiana have to pay 8.5% however due to the storm cituations we are going to have 3 days in December that will be tax free days. I almost wish I would have waited to buy a new car but maybe now I can buy new livingroom furniture. I am sure the stores will all be crowded but it may add up to big savings if I buy the big ticket items I want.....
copados1993 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Pa is 6%. DE is 0, but I don't feel like the alomst hour trip to get there!
cherry33778 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Here it is 6% for the state of Florida, and another 1% for the Tampa Bay Area, but thank goodness no state income taxes. I feel sorry for the rest of you that has to pay 8% and more. I think I would drive to another area, as long as it is less than one hour away, to save few bucks.
ticktrek Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 8.25% here in South Texas. But, on the good side, Texas does NOT have an income tax.
zucchini Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 In my part of Washington, the tax is 8.3%. It is lower in some places and higher in others. If you have ID from a non-tax state (OR,AK,MT,NH, etc) or a couple of other non-states (Alberta, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, etc), you are tax exempt. Non-restaurant food items are exempt too. Not beverages though (Pepsi, Coke, etc)
RossMAN Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Non-restaurant food items are exempt too. Not beverages though (Pepsi, Coke, etc)That's interesting, do you know why?
sperdue Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I think I've got everyone beat... 9.25% here in TN
_John_Lennon_ Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Apperantly here in North Carolina the sales tax is about 3.5 percent, but each county is able to make up their own county sales tax, so my county that I am in, and I think the capital county. (Wake county which Raleigh resides in) is both another 3.5 percent, so 7% overall.
peachysquirt21 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 6.5% in Minnesota. However we dont pay tax on clothing, shoes that sorta thing.
tinycaramel Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 New York just dropped to 8.375% from 8.625%
