nikkilugi Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Today dh and I went to Walmart to price match the X-Box 12 month Live Gold card that Best Buy has on sale for $39.99. Since hubby works for Walmart we get the associate's discount on items so that made it the best deal for me. Unfortunately I didn't have my Best Buy ad for this week anymore - I didn't think I would need any ad's and let my mom keep them on Christmas I usually always bring in an ad to price match but I went ahead and printed out the policy from the Walmart website stating a customer doesn't need the ad and ventured out. Of course we get up to the register and the associate says she needs to get a Manager to approve the PM. The CSM comes over and immediately starts arguing that I need the ad. I pull out my printout (the acutaly PDF from their corporate site no less) and she still argues. She starts saying how they don't price match online prices - I told her it was in the Best Buy print ad and I would be happy to pull up the ad on my phone for her to look at. She is still arguing with me about needing the ad and I look up and their actual policy is on a card above the register stating the customer doesn't need the ad. She tries and says something about a number limit. What?? She then says she has to check something and walks away from us completely. During all of this my husband pulls out his work Blackberry and dials the store and asks for the store manager. He explains the situation to the assistant manager on the phone and the ASM comes over and he tells the cashier to do the PM. We waited and the ASM shows up before the CSM even made it back to us. My dh just tells the ASM "make sure you review the policy with ALL the employees". DUH. GRR. The cashier was very apologetic and said she didn't want to get in trouble for the PM and that's why she called the CSM. I have been warned by my dh that I can't use him as a bargaining chip because of the nature of his position, lol, so that's why he didn't just tell the cashier it was ok. I just told him I think that CSM will remember him in the future.
amood06 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I price matched the BB video games at Walmart after BB messed up my order. It was the buy 2, get 1 free sale. Luckily I printed out a copy of their price match policy from their website because the manager told me no they don't price match buy 1, get 1 free items. So, fyi: print out and keep store policies in your purse, so you can whip it out when needed, they can't dispute that, esp. WM's policies.
AndreaInNC Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 You've never needed to show the ad. They are suppose to take your word for it - it's been that way for a few years.
nikkilugi Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Yes but it doesn't always work that way. I have had cashiers tell me straight out I need the ad - I always find it easier to just bring the ad along anyway, saves time from them having to find their copies (which they are supposed to have behind every register). Of course the one week I don't have the ad is the week I really need to PM something and of course I get grief for it, lol. I am just glad I had dh along or else it could have gotten ugly, especially when I am holding my print-out of Walmart policy from the Walmart coporate website and the CSM was still arguing with me.
