Vacuum Recommendations and New Carpet

Recommended Posts

As you all know, I bought a house in March that had new carpet put in after the previous owners moved out. As such, it is still fuzzing like crazy but because I'm the only one here full time, my bf is here a couple days a week, I don't create enough traffic alone to speed up the fuzzing. Thus, it has killed my vacuum. The bristles are completely full of carpet fibers and it has locked it down to where it doesn't even rotate any more, which is all fine and good because I've been unable to find bags for it for some time now. So, my questions are these:

A) Is there a way to speed up and/or end the carpet fuzzing?

B) Are there any good vacuums for dealing with new carpet?

C) Other suggestions? (I read something about a stick vacuum for fuzz but you don't get a deep clean)

D) Saw this one in this weeks Best Buy Ad, opinion?: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BISSELL+-+Cleanview+Helix+HEPA+Bagless+Upright+Vacuum+-+Black/9302006.p?id=1218080756373&skuId=9302006&st=bissell%20bagless&cp=1&lp=2

I'm not sure I have a price range at the moment. I'm exploring all options as I'm tired of my carpet looking dirty and I'm tired of picking up fuzz balls all the time. Thanks for the help!

I LOVE my dyson. I don't think there is anything that I don't like about it and I've had it 4-5 years. I don't really have any advice about the shedding, but you can take the bar off and clean all the crap off of it. Our last 2 vacuums had the bar thing lock completely up and so now with my dyson I have had DH take it off every few times I vacuum to clean it. I don't want to ruin my dyson. I have really long hair and that bar gets full in no time. Is that what you are talking about? The bristly bar thing?

Oh, and I didn't know about your new house. Congrats!!

I just seen this in your post, sorry. My friend has one that I think is last years model to that Bissell Helix - I love it (yep I've vacuumed her floors!). She seems to love it also.
