sweetdiggity
So...they'll be opening at midnight next year probably, or at least earlier than this year. Damn, I was hoping the super early opening times would die. lol
sbwolfer
Yeah I'm guessing they'll be opening earlier next year. I was at the mall BF early in the morning and I was surprised that some stores weren't opening until 6 a.m. I was waiting for Sephora to open but found out they weren't opening until 6. I was done at the mall by 5 and wasn't about to hang around for another hour so they lost my business that day. There weren't many people waiting at Penneys that day either. Rrt29
By the time we got to Penny's we were all zoombies and ready to go home. I didn't buy a thing....
AshJs3
I wish they would have opened earlier. I needed something and I ended up just going ahead and ordering online because I didn't think we would be out until 4am but I would have much rather picked it up at the store. Turns out we were still out and we stopped by but there weren't that many people there.

mcwalker
I was in JCP early morning and it was packed with shoppers. They had some very nice broad discounts too. Somewhat disappinted, but I think the midnight openings are here to stay. Just hope they don't move earlier in the day.

dmintelsgt
By the time we got to Penny's we were all zoombies and ready to go home. I didn't buy a thing....EXACTLY!! This is why I am NOT going out on Thanksgiving next year, I will wait until 3am on BF... that's my plan and I'm sticking to it! I need at least a few hours sleep to keep me mentally focused for serious BF shopping!
dmintelsgt
Sears honestly had nothing I really wanted this year, I don't think I've purchased anything from them in months, I almost always buy hubby some tools at Sears but this year he wants an iPad, so no tools - sorry Sears! I'll probably be back next year though.
speeddiva
Our mall manager told us he was really disappointed that we didn't open @ midnight (we had the option but not enough employees to cover being open that many hours so we didn't open until 6 am). He said the stores that did open @ midnight had great sales figures. I really think next year the mall will be open on Thanksgiving. I'm surprised it's taken this long since they are pretty much the only stores closed on the holidays still.

I'm too chicken to attempt Glenbrook's parking lot on BF lol.It was bad enough last Saturday;I had to park in the overflow lot right up by Coliseum! fabnsab
Here's what'll happen next year- there will be a competition on who will open earliest on Thursday to get the first of our money. Those who opened earliest won this year so there will be no holdouts now. After next year I predict black friday will not exist anymore. It'll be black Thursday. And in 50 yrs we won't even call it thanksgiving anymore!

sweetdiggity
The midnight opening I can deal with (although 5am is better to me, lol) but I hope stores keep it at that. Some already opened on Thanksgiving night this year, hopefully next year it won't be Turkey Day Morning. lol I wonder if jcp will start a little earlier (2-3) or jump right to midnight?... guess we'll see. theboyzmom
Well, with stores like Meijer, Kmart, Big Lots, Family Dollar, and others open at 5am on Thanksgiving, and the big push for 9-10pm openings that evening and midnight it's not much of a stretch to see the stores all having all day sales on Thanksgiving. Probably not next year, but like the posters above, I can see BF being eliminated and becoming BT...forget about family time and a time set aside to reflect on what really matters and to be thankful for it... Same with CVS and Walgreens. The difference is that they have special sales on Thanksgiving and that brings in the extra foot traffic. If they are already open, they might as well sell as much as they can by offering special deals.
Silverstreak24
I was hoping the midnight openings wouldn't have so much success. Midnight is too late/early for me. I went out at 4 and had a blast this year, although the crowds were considerably less at that time. I don't blame JCP. I blame TRU and Walmart who continually get earlier and earlier. AndreaInNC
Well I saw a bunch of folks see the line at 11pm and head right back to their car! I kinda liked the 10pm/midnite sales .. it freed up my Friday.
