How many 199$ sharps did your store have

I am from The upper peninsula of Michigan. We have one best buy in the whole U.P. My store only had 13 many people were disappointed. People drove from two hours away hoping to get one but were unlucky. Good time though I was 6 in line and arrived at noon so I had a 12 hour wait. 30 degrees wind chill in the low 20's but very good time. Me and my wife both got one. Really like the way best buy handles everything with the ticket system. My store gets an A+.

i think about 20, i receive being the short-end of the stick, the person in front of me received the last voucher which was such a disgrace cause that group had 3 people cut me in the last hour. and some old lady behind me who wasn't even in line who just left her chair there during thanksgiving cut me when the manager told us to pack up our tents and chairs. i didn't want to make a big deal out of it hoping that i might receive one tv. but when i saw the last one slip away, i was really mad, cause ive been camped out there since 11pm Wedensday. Camped out from 11pm Wednesday our store had 36 of the TVs.

Got really angry at BB. Manager refused to allow my DD13 to get a ticket for the42" TV. We needed a total of 4 so all of us were getting tickets for family/friends who could not be there. Manager kept changing his sayings from (he was not giving a ticket to anyone under 18), (not giving a ticked to anyone under 16) then sid (not giving a ticket to anyone who does not have idea.

Already contacted BB Corporate and they will be getting back to me.

My store had 18. I was the first one to receive the ticket. They made the mistake of letting out the white proof copy and made the mistake of letting someone in the will-call line have one. this caused a shortage of them by exactly one. The lines in the store were so long, that we were the last to be in the TV line (They had a line inside the store for every major group of items). We completed the process and went behind the store to the pickup area. We were then told that they ran out of TVs. My wife came out shaking her head. I calmly asked the manager what he could and was going to do. He said that those TVs were not real Sharps anyway, and he was going to have to bite the bullet on this one, since I had the #1 ticket. I then told him that I really liked LG TVs and he gave me a $700 TV! I can't wait to unbox it! I had also bought a warranty (cheaply) on the other model, and they transferred the warranty to the LG for no extra charge.:gdnum1:

As a footnote to this. the same thing happened with the Dynex TV. We had tickets for two that they were supposed to have. We saw one on the floor with damage to the box, and they said that there were no more due to the white proof being given out as a ticket. I said that I believed them, because my son got the #1 ticket for the Toshiba Bluray player, and I got the white ticket! We checked out the TV in the damaged box, and no damage to the TV was done, so we waited for the Manager to see what comparable item he was going to offer us for the second one. He then decided to give to us the Dynex 1080P that had the addition of a DVD player built in!

Our store had 15. They announced they were only allowing one per household so it's a good thing my kids are older and had other addresses. They did not check ID's but we were ready. And we didn't need to try to check out together which is what they were really saying you couldn't do because my kids had cash.

That was crap because what if I had a 16 year old who was spending thier birthday money. This is how I got a couple kids laptops previous years. Also why I knew to make sure my kids had the cash. Not cool when we were out there since Wednesday.

We had 36 total in our store. However, after standing first in line, the manager was changing rules every few seconds. First he refused to give more than 1 per family, then changed it to over 18, then over 16, then you had to show ID to get a ticket, etc. The ad says "1 per customer" no age limit, no "per family". My daughter's friend had let her daughter stay on line with me for 2 days in 40 degree weather and the intention was that her daughter would be able to get a TV for her. She was under 18 and didn't have ID so the manager refused to give her ticket for the TV. I am so upset with Best Buy that I am contacting Best Buy corporate, Best Buy customer relations, the attorney general's office and also consumer affairs. I haven't been able to get through yet, but I know others did get through and they said that others had made the same complaint and it was being investigated. I can understand not giving a ticket to a 3 year old, but this was a teenager that was there to get it for her mother. Not even in the same household as me, but was refused a television.

Our store didn't give out tickets for the Bluray or the Dynex. They were first come first serve, luckily I happen to find the Bluray in time since when I had asked the manager where they were I was told "I'm not a tour guide" and he refused to tell where anything was located.

What a jerk! I have never had problems at my Cleveland Ohio area Best Buy with management. Always been real helpful. In fact one year the manager put a TV on a cart for me before I even got in the store (yes, I was first in).

Sounds like your BB has a bad egg!

WOW! He's a great ambassador for BB, I think you should report him to corporate and see how he enjoys being a tour guide elsewhere.

I was with TazErase at that BB. I already called BB Corporate and they are investigating them. This was also the Manager that was making up his own rules as he went along. Taz and I were there with our Daughters both 13 and his Daughters friend also 13. They camped out with us for 25hours. THey wanted the 42" TV. Manager said he was not giving tickets out to "anyone under 18" then few minutes later said "anyone under 16" then minutes later "anyone without ID" This is not BB policy since tickets are handed out on first come first serve 1 per customer for each item. Corporate told me on Friday they will get back to me after the research is completed. I even asked Corporate how come my Daughter's money is good during the year even though she is only 13 but on Black Friday it is not. The woman I guess looked up their policy and when she realized the error put me on hole for 15 minutes while she contacted other people. Then she came back and said someone would call me back, If I dont hear from them by Wednesday I will be calling back.

Needless to say we were furious. TazErase has camped at that BB before and said they did everything totally different to previous years. It was totally different to the BBs I have camped out at before.

I think this is a problem at a lot of stores, a good manager will make things run smoothly for all and ease issues. A bad manager will bring more ill will than the lack of product. I know that the BB in the Jacksonville area tend to have good managers and if they get a bad one, he/she doesn't stay long. This is also true for other stores as well, a bad manager either moves up (the Peter principle) or out. I will drive further to go to a store with a good manager and avoid a store near me with a bad one.

I have had issues with BB before and generally avoid shopping there but some stuff I need is just cheaper there. The making up rules as he went along was one thing(bad enough, but he could argue he was misinformed or trying to appease someone) but being a rude a-hole is another thing completely (inexcusable from a manager)

Sounds like he will not be working there very long. We made sure that bad managers get the heave-ho.

Amen to that! When you do have a positive experience, it is good practice to go in later and thank them for all of their hard work!

I feel for you guys. My 17 year old was allowed to purchase anything he wanted with the cash he had. Had they not allowed him, the media would have been all over the story of a Delayed-entry Marine being denied shopping rights......oh boy, what a story that would have been!

I tried getting through with no luck Friday, but I have lots to discuss with Best Buy corporate about Ken (the store manager). Lots of people got upset with how he did it, and I know of at least 2 other people that are calling to file complaints against him. Last year my daughter was 12 and they had no problem giving her tickets, this year she was 13 and they refused to give her tickets. Had we known, we could have replaced each of them with adults easy enough, but after being on line for 29 hours (BEFORE BEST BUY CLOSED WEDNESDAY, the manager saw them there and didn't complain about them getting a ticket until 11pm Thursday night) they could not get tickets for their mother and aunt that has wanted the TVs and gave me the cash to pick them up for her. In the end, I lost my TV by trying to be the nice guy and helping them to make sure they got their TVs.

Our store had 43. I was 26th in line. I got one of the TVs.

Sorry about all the bad experiences. This year our Best Buy seemed to be even more polished than previous years. They had printed out notes to hand out to everyone on how the doorbuster tickets would work - no changing of the rules. They went down the line asking each person which doorbuster item they wanted - 1 ticket per item per person, as desired. I got 4 doorbuster items - all the ones I wanted.

They had the front of the store blocked off and the line blocked off as well. Following the employees as they went down the line with the tickets were cops so that no one could cause any problems.

There was no cutting in line allowed, and they escorted people off who tried to do so.

They let in 75 people in to the store at a time, and there was no trampling, fighting, or crowd problems.

They also passed out free cokes, snacks, and caffeine supplements, and showed the Harry Potter movie as well. Before the movie started they had music playing out of loud speakers.

It's weird how different Best Buys had totally different experiences.

Our store had 10. I did not attempt it as I knew we would have to give up Thanksgiving to get one, but I do know others who tried unsucessfully. I was in Bestbuy yesterday, and the customer service rep I talked to said she actually had someone return one.

Our local plaza (which has a BB) let it be known that the plaza was closing at 7pm on Weds night and would not re-open until 11:30 pm on Thursday night). They also had cops at the entrance to prohibit entrance to the parking lot. Cars also were not allowed to line up and park on the streets in front. People were warned that they would be charged with trespassing. I heard the merchants did not want the hassle of "loiterers". I did not go so I cannot say what happened, however I did not hear of any problems.

Bummer Taz. This type of thing happened to me a few years ago and I have boycotted BB for 4 years on BF because of it. They lured me back this year with incredible deals. I complained only to the store manager on what a disorganized line he ran. He bought me off with a $50 GC, but I still didn't go back for years. Stick it to this guy. He sounds like he needs calibrating from corporate. This year I had two teenagers with me and they got tickets just like everyone else. We had to pay separately for each duplicate item, but that just meant that we stood in line together at the register and I swipped by credit card three times instead of once.

@Taz, when and if you get someone in BBcorp let them have it. I sat online for their sale on Thursday and Friday only to have every item sold out before I could get to check out. I have all payment info entered but when the sales went live the items were already sold out online. I suspect a lot of BB employees bought BF items similar to the touchpad incidents earlier this year. Happy Shopping all.
