Rose0426 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I have a chance to get a free, with points, LeapPad thru my DH work. Only problem it is listed as pink and I need it for my grandson. I have not seen the pink one in the stores, but on Targets website it actually lists it as purple. Is the pink actually a purple color and would it be OK for a boy?
beccas302 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I'd say it's more of a purple color, than it is pink. The screen shows a little girl, and the icons have Disney princess icons on it, but otherwise, the color is really only on the four corners. If I could only find or get that one for my nephew, I would have!
RBWilliams Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Well, I ordered that for my granddaughter and it is called pink/purple on varying websites. It is not the standard pink more pinkish/purplish. If it is free, get it period. Now, whether some boys may be thrown off by the pink color will depend on friends perception of whether it is cool or not. It is a free leappad though. The question if whether the parents will be ok with their son having that particular color. I know it is silly to factor that in but there you go....paint the darn things green then:)
kansasteacher Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Yeah, I was thinking that if you took your time and used a black Sharpie marker, you could easily cover most of the pink/purple around the corners/edges. My two boys - 8 and 5 - would NOT play with it, even though the amount of pink/purple is very small. But, as the other person mentioned, it's a FREE LeapPad, which you can barely find in the stores right now, even if you were willing to pay the $99.

I'd make sure parents are ok with it, I know bff's husband is a little miffed his son plays with girls stuff. At worst you can decorate it with some of that snazzy duck tape that's out now in patterns.
