wf2afcop Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I have been looking every where to see how many lights (this string kind, 100 per box) for our 7" tree. I thought it used to be on the boxes, if you have this size tree, you will need this many lights. Does anyone know, I need to buy more, but have NO clue how many to buy and I want to make sure I get enough when I get them. The tree is 7" and pretty full. Thanks!
Spooot Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 You will need 1 string of 100 lights per foot of tree, i.e.: a 6' tree needs 6 strings of 100 lights-600 lights all together! This is the standard rule of thumb.
Guest all2tired Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I like a lot of lights on my tree but I think you should have at least 700 lights on your size tree
JBKing Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 100 lights per foot is the bare minumim, IMO. Our tree is 8 1/2 or 9 feet and I usually have 15 or more 100 light strands on it each year.

Gporter34 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I have a pre-lit so I don't add any lights to the tree but between the outside of the house, mantles, and walkways, I usually use about 40-50 100light strings. But I like alot of lights.lol
verusca Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Past few years we invested in a multi-colored prelit tree in which I add 2 boxes of white lights to and actually weave the lights closer to the inside so that they will illuminate the ornaments that normally dont get seen. I use to do it when we had real or not prelit. Makes the tree kinda come awake because none of the white lights are on the outside.
wf2afcop Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 I think I will get 8 boxes since I really like to have lite up tree and it is a very full around tree. Thanks everyone!!
elena_398 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 The packaging should say square footage it covers. If anything buy them (a tad more than you estimate) and return what you don't use
