How do you find out the "rules" for Walmart?

I've never been to Walmart on BF, and from what I've been reading here it seems like each WM is different in how they operate on BF. I will be at my parents' house on BF so I will be going to their Walmart which just opened this year. Would I be able to find out the "rules" by calling customer service?

Last year for the first time here in Charlottesville Virginia WM had us line up single file all the way around the building with police and security officers enforcing no line breaking and/or charging the front door. We had a situation in the past where people were hurt....needless to say that makes the morning come even quicker if WM is first on the list!

good luck

I need to find out how they are handling the $79 jeep thats on sale on BF. There is no way I can pick that sucker up and haul it around the store while trying to get other deals!

I want that jeep too! But I will be 3 weeks out of surgery and don't think I can lift it. I am hoping to find it early and put it in layaway and then get someone to help me with it later that morning, after the rush, but before the price changes. I teach school, so I'm calling all my former students who work there to get them to give me a hand!

The only way you will find out for sure is by asking management at your local store. Chances are they do not know what they are having on sale yet. Most stores don't find out until about a week before the ad starts.

There are 2 WM near us both about 5-8 miles away opposite directions. For yrs we'd go to one and it was crazy. I mean lines were wrapping around the parking lot... cops everywhere. Overall the crowd was super nice but once they opened the doors it was nuts. If anyone saw someone try to "cut in line" they were called out quickly and had to go to the back of the line. The store usually passed out maps of where items would be so this was helpful.

For the past 2 yrs dh and I have gone to the other one line was super short in comparison and we were in and out with 20 minutes. Last yr we got ds the kids John Deere no way I could have carried it. We usually split up and use walkie talkies or our cell phones:gd_orange

Our Walmart has different rules everyyear so who knows one year they closed down the next year you could wait around but could not check out until the sale officially started/

I'd call your local Walmart and ask to speak to the manager in charge of the store. Make sure you get their name so that if there are any questions later, you can tell whom ever you speak to that yo spoke with such and such.

at our wal-mart which is a division 1 store sometimes they keep big items in a trailer in the parking lot. The customers then take the receipt out to the trailer where an associate gives them the big item. It does seem they all do it differently so calling would be the best things to do.

call your local Wal mart and ask to speak to the manager or co manager and they can explain how they will be doing blitz items.I work at one in St.louis,mo and for big ticket items we do a pull tab .We hand a piece of paper with a bar code on it and then we take the item to layaway.Wal mart is opening at 5am here not sure if that is all over or not.

if you get there when the sale starts, can you get most or all of the items you wanted or do they have small amounts?? I tried one year and the store was very limited that even though you got there before doors opened you were one of the last ones in the store and all of the advertised items were gone...Just curious

At my old store that is exactly what you had to do...now that we live here I am not sure how things are handled. This one is a SuperWalmart so I know things will be different.

We have 5 Super-Walmarts within a 10 mile drive in each direction here in North Charleston, SC.

Each store has different rules each year, usually varying according to the store manager's discretion.

The store I have hit the last 2 years, puts all the early bird specials on pallets.

They clear all the stuff out of the center of the aisles all the way around the store.

Around 2-3AM 4 or 5 guys start rolling out well shrink wrapped pallets with the early bird merchandise and filling the center aisles. (security stands every 30 or so feet between pallets wtaching for people trying to grab stuff early)

A few minutes before 5AM, they have the overnight stockers each stand by a pallet and open them all simultaneously at 5AM.

A pretty smart and orderly way to do it, that most stores should follow I would think.

What I do is go in without a cart, grab the most important thing on my list then go back for a cart. Since you are planning on getting a really big item, grab that, pay for it then go back in. It would help alot if you had somebody go with you.

The wm in Knoxville is open 24 hrs but they cover the specials up and don't unwrap them until 5am. The trick was finding the stack you wanted to be next to at 5. I bought a 32" tv last year and they just gave me a tag and a stockman took the tv to the front. So I didn't have to carry it.
