Esentially if an items says $5 with $2 up rewards, you still have to pay the $5. Then they give you a receipt for $2 toward another purchase in their store. If you frequent the store, or can go there to buy staple items like milk then it can be 'worth' it. If you don't go there ever, or don't have other things in mind you can purchase with the Up rewards then you might as well bypass the deals.
