Looks like Walmart has a Philips Blue-ray surround for $198 on BF. I'm going to have to do some research to see if's a decent system.

I have decided to buy my blue ray player separate from my surround system. I've gone through all the ads, but I'm not seeing any surround systems without dvd player or blue ray players. I just want the receiver and speakers. Anyone seen any good deals on these?

The only one I saw that had speakers and a receiver was at HH Gregg. Think it was an Onkyo... I've been debating getting a surround sound system. But for the room it will be in, the soundbar systems seem to make more sense and haven't seen any good deals on these. Plus, it is a pain to run the wires and stuff.

I think we are opting for a soundbar and wireless subwoofer. Sam's Club has a Vizio and Phillips for around 199.

My dad just bought this one not a bf but since it was not a doorbuster anywhere else he had to have it. Total in store was 330. Even though we have the 6.1(nothing is wrong with it) he said he could not hook up the blu ray dvd player.

I'm just looking for something very basic for my parents-- my dad's hearing is getting worse, so I'm thinking putting a couple of speakers by his chair, one for the rest of the family room, and one close to the kitchen could be a much better solution than everyone having to yell over the TV noise! LOL They already have a DVD player (that they rarely use- TV mainly stays on Encore Western channel on Dish Network!), so really just looking for a decent, easy-to-operate speaker system. To buy it by myself, really need to stay around $50 or less; if I can convince my brother and sister to help, I could probably go up to around $125. Any suggestions?? I won't be near a BB or other large electronics store on BF, but could go to BB next week/weekend, if needed. Also open to ordering online-- as long as I know it's a decent system, reputable seller, and can get it here in time for Christmas! :)

I got a philips upconverting dvd home theatre from walmart last year for my parents tv and works great. For me, I think I'm going with the 199.99 Pioneer receiver at BestBuy. The reviews look great.

I have my eye on the vizio vht510 5.1 home theater system at walmart.
http://www.walmart.c...SYSTEM/13912194
Sound bar with wireless subwoofer and rear speakers(rear speakers plug into subwoofer). $300.
If anyone has this one or recommends another I would love to hear from you.
