what do you pay for xm radio in your vehicle?? we have two xm radio subscriptions and 80$ for three months just seems expensive to me. is this about right or am i getting ripped off?? TIA

I have one radio in the car with basic service. I pay by the year but I only pay 1/2 price which ends up being about $6 or $7 a month. Here is what I do every year- I call them up when my subscription has ended and threaten to cancel. They will keep lowering the price until it comes to about 1/2 price and then I jump on it. I have done this for the last 2 years without fail.

I love my xm but I am not willing to pay full price for it. If I cancel they get nothing so they figure 1/2 a loaf is better than none.

We've had ours for 2 1/2 years now and I can't live without it. Especially for long trips through the beautiful state of Kansas. I think it runs about $140 a year. I could probably do less since we really only use 4 channels.

we pay 13.82/month for ONE reciever but we are grandfathered into that rate because we've had it for YEARS...right now our second reciever is still free until Sept of this year. I think my sister pays $16/month for one reciever and she just got hers about a yr ago...

I have XM in my car and I pay $20 for 5 months. I called 800-347-0600 and told them I wanted the 5 months for $20 and they signed me up. My 5 months just ended and I called to cancel and they offered me it again 5 months for $20. With taxes it was $23.05.

Can someone help me understand what is xm radio? Is it something that you add to your radio in your vehicle?

XM/Sirius is satellite radio. You buy a radio that you add into your vehicle. In some vehicles, it comes as an extra. XM had a deal for quite a while, periodically, where if you signed up for the service for x amount of time, you got a free radio, base level of course.

Satellite radio is great if you travel or spend any time in your vehicle or in your house for that matter. I loved it when I traveled state wide. No more searching for stations because I could pick up my favs wherever I was.

We recently dumped it cuz we disliked the billing immensely. We had more than one issue with them and dealt with it when we wanted the radio. But now that I no longer travel, we dumped it. And as we were dumping it, of course we are dealing with billing issues again.

This sounds pretty cool. But just to be sure I don't have to get rid of my original car radio correct? Sorry you were having billing issues:(

No, you keep your original radio.

Thanks, Stacie... I just called and got that deal... And that's for "XM Everything" vs the "Mostly Music" plan I had for my wife previously.

two questions here about the $20 deal....is that 20$ every month or 20$ for 5 months = $4 a month? .....and whats the xm everything..is that the comedy channels and sports?

$23.05 for five months, roughly $4 per month.

XM Everything is all the standard channels: music, comedy, sports, news, talk. ---- but no premium stuff like Howard Stern, Playboy, etc.

I had been a subscriber for a few years until last year. I cancelled it because it was rather expensive and I got into podcasts.

When I read about stacie's 5 months for $20 deal, I jumped back on that and have been very happy with it!

Thank you Stacie!

Just renewed my 2 Sirius radios yesterday. I first called to cancel service as of the expiration date. (offered 164.00 a year, then 141.00 a year and then 116.00 a year) I finally bit when I was offered 88.00 a year for the first unit and 53.00 a year for the second one. They also gave me access to listen online for free.

The deal was offered after I was transferred to the dept. that handles cancellations.

I originally found this deal on Fat Wallet. I'm on my third time renewing for the $20. The trick is to always hit the extention for cancelling. I get it every time. Can't beat $4 a month!
