  1. A person compiled some commercials from the early 2000's thanksgiving season. A lot of older black friday commercials are included. I hope you all enjoy them!
  2. Anything Elvis had on his christmas records. My mom and I listened the heck out of those together and great memories are locked in every one. Individual songs? Silver Bells.... My mom sang that a ton when I was a kid. I still can hear her singing it... I used to be into Dr Demento and Weird Al and Bob Rivers pretty heavily when I was younger, and any novelty christmas stuff, but that seems to have faded a bit in preference for more classical stuff and stuff I remember when I was much younger...
  3. 1) Best ad? I think that is an odd way to think of it. Each ad may have a thing or two that make me want to hop on their site/go to their store. I tend to like walmarts bluray/dvd selections. Old Navy's clothes. Best Buy for the electronics, etc. 2) I haven't really avoided the shops the last couple of years. I definitely spread my visits out over the month. Especially in 2020 when things were hot and heavy with the COVID. But I will absolutely be in stores this year. (Supplemented by online stuff too!) 3) The thing where black friday has lost its way is the singular nature of that day being the only one. Now that its starting in the middle of October, and lasts up to the week before christmas, it's watered down and feels much less like it did. Thanks for the chance to blather on! -Mike
  4. ...and so it begins. Thanks for posting it Brad!
  5. So, I haven't followed this much at all, but it popped up on reddit. https://macysthanksgiving.fandom.com/wiki/The_96th_Annual_Macy%27s_Thanksgiving_Day_Parade There is a place where you can see what the new additions to the parade are going to be. They also seem to host some conversations on the parade as well. Check it out guys! -Raven(mike)
  6. I started thinking about this last night. I am sure that there is a best time to start stocking up on ingredients for making cookies, pies and other holiday meals. I've seen the list, for instance, on the crazy coupon ladies site that shows when to buy what through the year. But that puts holiday stuff in the Nov/Dec timeframe and that seems late to me... Am I nuts? (there are a few facebook groups where some folks have been building up their Christmas cookie collections since june. )
  7. Howdy folks! Glad to see we're getting close! Hang onto your hats baby!
  8. The memories. All the toys and "stuff" doesn't mean much anymore. At the time, it was cool. But the memories of our family being together during the holidays means the most to me now.
  9. Ah yes. I bet this year will be quite different. I am hopeful that we can make it through with a minimal of fuss and have a great holiday season!
  10. I don't see how they will be able to gather that many people together. I think we better think about the holidays now rather than later as I am not anticipating a robust year... (purely a hunch, not based on anything other than seeing how hard it is to get _anything_ where I work at the moment... It's hit and miss, more misses than hits though...)
  11. This is totally my concern. The place where all this stuff gets made and shipped from, got whalloped with this illness just like we did (and even now they are experiencing a new surge of it...) The supply chain is broken down and I don't know if they have time to recover for the holidays... I work at a hobby shop, and our suppliers and distributors are having problems getting product.
  12. That was always my issue there @Kanyon71. They had kitschy stuff and I found _very_ similar items at the Dollar Tree...
  13. https://www.hallmark.com/digital-dream-book/ Who else collects Hallmark ornaments? I do both halloween and christmas from them. Time to start planning... -Mike
  14. Just noticed that the forums are open! Hi everyone! -Mike
  15. I seem to remember that the week before/of the super bowl always has better television deals than black friday. Am i mis-remembering this?
  16. Yep! Manga studio, or clip studio (same program, slightly different features) work great with tablets. I'd suggest Krita.org as it's free and as good as painter/clip studio. Might as well download the following as well; Gimp.org Inkscape.org Scribus.org As well. They can put out their own books for free except hardware.
  17. Unless you are using it to pay rent, don't buy Wacom. http://www.huion-tablet.com/ Just as good, not as expensive, and some pros use it too. https://www.huiontablet.com/all-products/graphic-tablets/new-1060-plus.htmlis fantastic, and under $90.
  18. I'm starting to twitch a little bit... Must be the christmas orders we are doing at work...
  19. I am thankful that my mother survived a massive stroke a week ago yesterday, and that her recovery seems to be doing extremely well thanks to the doctors who are caring for her. I am also thankful that my sisters, and the rest of our family, are behaving admirably under the circumstances. Our family has been fractured over the last few years, and this set of circumstances have seemed to brought us back together. Happy Holidays everyone, hug and kiss your whole family, they are precious people.
  20. hmmm.....straight talk galaxy s4....might be in the market for that...
  21. Last year they called 'em Holly FM. Here's a link to a local radio blog that talked about it last year. http://www.cnyradio.com/2013/10/05/syracuse-stations-flip-to-holly-fm-with-247-christmas/ -Mike
  22. Nice! If you're in the syracuse/central new york area, one or two of our local radio stations get the tunes going 24/7 in and around the first week of October. -Mike
