If you're in the market for a loaded laptop with comprehensive 3+ year warranty then this is a great deal :gd_pineap

Which laptop is right for you depends on your needs, how portable and of course budget:

  • 700m - light & portable with beautiful 12.1" WXGA display but small keyboard, only 2 USB ports.
  • 600m - older model
  • 6000 - best bang for your buck laptop with gorgeous 15.4" WSXGA+ display.

Nice keyboard, 4 USB ports, FireWire, not as portable as the 700m.

  • 9300 - desktop replacement, watching TV/PVR or gaming with nice spacious 17" display

Summary of choices:

  • Inspiron 6000, 1.73GHz, 15.4" WSXGA+, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD Burner, Windows XP Home, 6 cell battery, 802.11b/g and 3 year at home warranty!

    $1,859 - 40% = $1,115.40

  • Inspiron 700m, 1.7GHz, 12.1" WXGA, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD Burner, Windows XP Home, 4 cell battery, 802.11b/g and 3 year at home warranty!

Downgrade processor from 1.80 and 1.70 and save $100

Upgrade to additional 8 cell battery for $129 is highly recommended, up to 5 hours battery life!

    $1,824 - 40% = $1,094.40

  • Inspiron 9300, 1.73GHz, 17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD Burner, Windows XP Home, 6 cell battery, 802.11b/g and 3 year at home warranty!

    $2,174 - 40% = 1,304.40

I'm tempted to get the 700m. But I can't seem to get the coupon to work :( Has it already been used up by any chance?

EDIT: nm I got it working. I'm tempted to use the $750 off coupon instead. It gets me 2 years at home warranty with the extra coverage to cover spills/accidents.

I'm not sure which ones a better deal. I'm leaning towards the Amex one.

Coupon code still works, remember there is no period at the end.

Now that's what I call "deal engineering" :bunny:

How much did it cost to upgrade to 1GB RAM? I got 256MB and ordered 1GB from NewEgg.com for $119 and installed it myself.

hmmm. It's $140 extra for the 1 gig memory (2 dimms). If I remove it and just get the 256 meg, I still have to add around $100 to get the price over 1899. Any suggestions on what to add?

Of course if you go through eBates they are stealing away our commission for all the help we've done :)

You guys get commission by clicking through your link? I didn't know that. In that case, I'll probably use your link since I wouldn't have known about this deal without this forum :D

Get the standard 4 cell battery and order an additional 8 cell battery but that's probably $29 more.

XP Pro?

Larger hard drive?

Longer warranty?

Hmmm well would you recommend the dell DPA route or the amex blue cash route. Because if it's the amex blue cash route, they extend my warranty for another year.

I guess I could go with the larger hard drive. I have an extra copy of XP pro sitting at home waiting to be installed on my new laptop (used it on my old laptop which I reinstall xp home on before selling)

My only main concern about the 700m is the gaming ability. I don't plan on playing huge graphics intensive games on this guy but I do like real time strategy games as well as Diablo 2. I figure if I get the 1 gig of ram, it'll help out.
