noehlp
Myself, I'd go with a Canon Powershot. Canon PowerShot A1100 12MP Digital Camera @ Staples for - $129.99 * 12.1 megapixels, ideal for prints up to 16" x 20" * 4x optical zoom (Most of the other camera's your considering only have 3x zoom) * 30mm wide angle lens shows more of the scene you're shooting, helping you capture more complete images when shooting indoor group portraits, expansive landscapes, or architectural scenes
klehb
Read Consumers Report and their suggestion for under $150 was the Canon Power Shot A1000, the Kodak Easy Share M1033, the C160, or the M320 & finally, the Samsung SL102. She's looking for something in color. That's easy enough. Put I didn't want to place a lot of research into the particulars. Sounds like I should atleast go with a 4X over a 3X. For a little more money, others I'm considering, if I can find them are sale are the Canon Power Shot SD1200, the SD 780, or the SD980, the Casio Exilim EX512, & the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T90. Thanks! Monstermile
Best Buy has the Kodak Easyshare M381 on sale this week for $99 or $129 with an extra battery and case. Has 12.4 megapixel 5x optical zoom. At $70 off that is a good deal considering the many features it has. I was looking at this one at regular price for my 17 y/o to replace an older Nikon. Unfortunately she is hooked on the Sony DSC-W290.
50sjayne
Just wanted to say thanks for this- I was considering standing in line at Shopko for it for $10 more- "I'm gettin' too old for that c*ap."

Great camera, good size and great specs. I have a Canon SLR and 2 P&S, all have been great. We are getting this camera in Pink for our 11yo daughter. Priced at $129 good buy!! I had one and the software locked my computer up all the time until I deleted it and the camera ate batteries. I could only take 3 or 4 pics on a full charge until they were dead. I bought a Samsung i85 last year. It has a battery pack that I can plug in or hook into a usb port to charge. My daughter's Sony cybershot is the same way. I will never buy a kodak again. My first digital camera was the Kodak Easyshare. It was a piece of crap that took crappy pictures. I have loved the Canon Powershot. I have one and each of my girls have the Canon's. We love them.
