noehlp
GameFly - Does anyone have experience with them? I am trying to stretch the Xmas dollars for the kids, and they've got Some GREAT deals on used games. But I will not be had. So what say you? www.gamefly.com
Angelseyes28
Oh man I hope someone replies with some good news b/c there is a game on there that BOTH of my kids want and it's a KILLER price!
conj
we've bought games through them - usually on our friends membership account - had no problems with them not working or anything... we've had a couple trial memberships and will probably never pay, because the shipping time is absolutely atrocious. Joli
We love this!!!!! We are on the 2 games at a time plan, we get new games within 2-3 days, shipping is very fast for us!! We have bought games from them also, never had any trouble. You can't beat the used game prices, plus free shipping. I highly reccomend!

steve1229
Thanks guys! I'll check them out further this weekend. We started up with Gamefly last year when I bought a gift certificate for the kids for Christmas and liked it so much we still have it. This time of year is a good time because they offer discounts off the subscription price with Gift Certificates. If you're thinking of signing up I would definitely check it out. Cant' remember how much the discount is but could find a link if you're interested. With two consoles it gives us cheap access to all their games and if I decide to buy one they have good deals. Also free shipping for members.
conj
I figure the shipping time on the games is because we live so far from their distribution centers... compared with Netflix, Gamefly takes forever!

The easiest way to find the gift certificates is to go all the way to the bottom of the home page where it as all the different categories. Also heres the link: http://www.gamefly.com/Gift-Certificate/Hope this works.
Rebirth
Gamefly is very good, but shipping does take time, 2-4 days. Once in awhile you get the new games on the list. Gamefly used games is way better than GameStop/EBGames. Always cheaper and you get the original case and manual in good condition. There should be atleast one shipping center in the midwest but they don't.

kellmarr
We just started a Gamefly membership recently and are loving it - we have 2 consoles and my daughter has a DS - all of which you can rent games for. We live in MI and our dist. center is Pennsylvania - ours arrive in 2 days pretty much all the time. I only wish they had an option for 3 out at a time so we could all get something we wanted at the same time!

I have the option for up to a 4-game plan but I've had them for almost a year now. Shipping times have been good for us too and with all the holiday games coming out my kids are about to explode. racerfan
Gamefly sounds like a great idea. Would love to get a subscription for DS and DD for Xmas, but I dont think it will work for them. DS has a game magazine subscription that he reads and lets me know what games he wants. This year he asked only for 3 games:eyepoppin. With the deals I got on here to pre order them it worked out that I would only get less than a six month subscription for the money. I asked him for more games but he said he was not interested in any others (then I started to panic on what to get him for Xmas lol) DD has also only asked for 2 games (I picked out another for her). When I calculated out the subscription fees it was cheaper for me just to buy the games they asked for. I know my Nephew has the subscription, but there sometimes months where he does not rent any games:( Thanks for letting me know how much the subscription is. I hope it works out for some of you. allshoppedout
You know I was going back and forth in my mind, because the monthly fee, isn't very cheap...if I get the lowest $ 16 x 12 months...that is $192....if I buy him 4 games a year (2 for Christmas, 1 for birthday, 1 for good report card) and they are for PS3 It'll likely be $160-180-ish right there..and he will only be playing those 4 games. Some excellent features about signing up: 1-if son rents this game and HATES it, I am not out the 30, 40, 50+ dollars that I would be if we bought it just membership fees... 2-something new all the time to keep him interested. . . 3-he will likely see that all the games aren't "so hot" and I think he will not ask for many games... he has a very discriminating taste. . he won't ask for something unless he REALLY likes it...so it is possible I will have LESS games/less belongings cluttering up the house. . . 4-everyone says their used prices are reasonable and good condition :) so if he "HAS" to have it after playing it, it should be easier on the wallet... mom2monkiesx3
We had gamefly for a year when they first started. At the time I was pretty unhappy about with them. It took forever for them to recieve the games we shipped and then forever more to get the games on our list. Towards the end they added another processing/shipping center but it didn't seem to help in our area. We finally cancelled, we just werent getting our money out of it. I have heard they added more to the inventory and more shipping facilities but we haven' tried them again.. We have netflix and they are SUPER fast so I don't know what the deal was with gamefly exactly...
mom2monkiesx3
BTW I DID LOVE the rewards program and got alot of used games for next to no money that way. I assume they still have the rewards program?
tokanm
DS had this too but cancelled due to such long shipping times and that he would never seem to get the games he wanted first choice. Maybe it is a New England thing and there are no centers near here. Netflix on the other hand is 1-2 days.

steve1229
Yea, Netflix only does movies. They have been around a lot longer and have been able to open more distribution centers than Gamefly, which probably accounts for a quicker delivery. But Gamefly shipping times for us have been fine. It is usually about a 3-4 day turnaround. I'm in Washington and my nearest shipping center is Los Angeles, which is pretty good for that distance. Not sure why others are having a different experience. I actually got turned onto Gamefly by an old high school friend of mine that now lives in New Hampshire and he has about the same shipping time as me. The only thing I would say is try out one of their deals that they're running for the holidays and test it out for yourself.
conj
Ok, if it takes 4 days for me to get the game from my house to the distribution center, and an additional 4 days to get the next game from the center, that is 8 days I am paying for without the product. that is not acceptable to me given their prices.... Netflix - a similar service for a different media - is cheaper for 3 at a time than gamefly is for 2 at a time. It usually takes 1 day for them to get a movie back from me, and 2 days for them to send the next one.

If that is how long it is taking then I would contact both Gamefly and my post office and maybe something can be figured out that is going wrong. If that was the normal shipping time Gamefly couldn't stay in business very long.
yndaid
Gamefly Rocks! My husband signed up for it shortly after he got his Xbox 360 and it has been great on the checkbook. He has purchased one or two games from them and we have had no problems. I would suggest them to everyone who has an avid game player in their household. Beats buying multiple $50 games. My husband pays $16.99/month.
