Help with a store (Sears)

Please help, I have a refrigerator purchased at Sears two years ago. It broke and Sears sail it would cost 900$ to fix. I have called them numerous times, they don't want to honor the warranty because they said we have bad well water that caused the compressor to break. Does anyone know how to get in touch with their headquarters? When I call customer service they are so mean to me. After throwing out 300 dollars of food and now faced with purchasing another refrigerator I am very sad.

What does your water have to do with the compressor? I could see if it was the pump system that brings water to the doors, but that shouldn't affect the compressor.

Can they prove that was the problem? It isn't negligence on your part, so they should honor the warranty. I would call again and press the issue. Then, I would consider getting a second estimate and seeing if you can get a private repair company to dispute the "cause."

Who gave that diagnose of the fridge, compressors don't have any external water source, the only water that is fed into the fridge is icemakers/water dispensors. Compressor went down because of defect if it wasn't abused. I would fight it, go over their heads. Alittle research on your warranty card should have the numbers you need to call.

I would demand that you get a second opinion or it might be worth having an independant repair person coming out to diagnose the problem.

To make a long story short, I had my fridge break 3 days before thanksgiving a few yrs ago. The 1st repair person "fixed" something that turned out not to be the problem, the 2nd person said it was the compressor and it would cost me an extra $200 to fix. I refused to pay but he ordered the part anyway. 2 weeks later, a third repairman came, installed the compressor and the fridge still didn't work. Turned out that all I needed was the freon flushed. It took 3 weeks in total. I complained on ever website I could find, wrote e-mails and made calls to no avail.

Good Luck to you!!!!

Well water has nothing to do with the refrig per se, it puts off a vapor that eats away at copper tubing. More than likely your refrig was out of warranty anyway as only the high end models have longer than a year warranty or unless you took out a extended warranty. Check your model number unless it begins with 106 (which is Whirlpool built) I wouldnt repair it anyway. I am in the appliance service business and that is the only brand I recommend unless you are going to the high end models. You should be able to find someone that does sealed system work to repair it for you . I would get another opinion as the compressor is probably ok, I bet its got a leak. Sears service has never been known to be any good, revolving door at that place.
