  1. No specific budget for me. I look at the deals and decide what is worth buying, either as a gift or for myself. I often postpone some purchases to see if a good deal appears on Black Friday, but I don't have any specific items on that list yet this year.
  2. And remember: 5% off any price on the spot (better than "cash back") with their Target Red Cards. And always free shipping with a Red Card. Don't shop Target without one!
  3. I only wish for a Corona Holiday on this Black Friday
  4. Got the pins--Thanks! And welcome to October!
  5. Thanks, Brad! (This is a gratuitous post for the sole purpose of gaining one entry in the contest.) (Just kidding.) (Sort of.)
  6. Sounds like fun. Always good to clean out the warehouse.
  7. I will miss "The Hunt," -- rushing around to get doorbusters on my list before they sell out or time runs out. I will also most likely be near home, whereas I have traveled many past Thanksgivings and Black Fridays to various destinations.
  8. Sorry to see summer go, but welcome to September.
  9. Checking in for August. I returned to my office in Manhattan yesterday for the first time since March. Working from home again today and the rest of the week. Thankful that I have had steady work, but sympathetic to those who have lost jobs or income, or got sick. I'll take one of those GottaDeal masks, however they are made! And as others have noted, most any mask can be put over a surgical mask if you want more filtering.
  10. Bigjim (Dev): interesting thoughts. But moreover, you have been silent on GottaDeal for sometime, so welcome back! Hope you are doing well.
  11. Hey, Brad, how about some GottaDeal face masks this year. You know, for safe shopping! High visibility, too.
  12. Welcome to July! Have a nice Independence Day holiday/weekend. Social distance and wear a mask when in enclosed spaces or close to others, no matter where you are on Earth.
  13. Welcome to June. Wishing good health, peace, and justice to everyone.
  14. Happy May Day / International Worker's Day -- especially to the healthcare workers and other workers on the front line against COVID-19. Every night since April 3 at 7:00 p.m. I play Sinatra's "Theme from New York, New York" out my sixth floor co-op windows in support of the #ClapBecauseWeCare for Queens NY healthcare workers. My effort was mentioned in a New York Times article posted online this morning: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/01/nyregion/thank-you-coronavirus-helpers-7pm-sinatra.html?smid=em-share I am referenced in the article as the "neighbor above Portofino Ristorante" in Forest Hills, Queens.
  15. So glad we are done with the Coronavirus here in Queens, NYC! April Fools! Wash your hands, social isolate, and be safe out there.
  16. Checking in for March. Submitted my taxes yesterday--one thing out of the way.
  17. What Black Friday Ads? For some stores at least it looks like printed and fixed ads are on the way out.
  18. Not that I rely on groundhogs for meteorology, but Punxsutawney Phil says an early spring is coming. In the meantime, for the sake of our planet, I hope we get some real winter with some good snow, at least in the mountains.
  19. I placed a couple of online orders early in the week (Macy's and Kohl's) for a new suit and some work clothes. For the first time, I was in Massachusetts (Plymouth area) this year Wednesday to Saturday, where all stores (except pharmacies) are closed all day Thanksgiving. (I like it!) My wife, daughter and I got a nap after Thanksgiving dinner, then I dropped off my wife and daughter at an Old Navy near our hotel shortly after midnight and headed to Macy's to get most of their free after rebate items and look at a few other things shortly after they opened at 12:30. Crowds very light there at that hour. After Macy's I picked up my wife and daughter at a Walmart and took them back to the hotel. I continued through the night with stops at Walmart, Best Buy, Old Navy, and Kohls. Then returned to the hotel for breakfast and to go on the Kohl's web site and check the dimensions of some toaster oven-air fryers I had seen (decided against it) but placed an order for a smaller toaster oven and other items. Unlike Walmart, which opened at 1 a.m., Targets in Massachusetts did not open until 7:00 a.m. After breakfast I stopped in Target then drove farther north to an Office Max (batteries free after points) and a Sears, which it turned out was in the final days of liquidation, so no BF deals there, but got a replacement for the rear wiper on my car, which I needed. At about 11:45 PM Friday I realized that the Ace Hardware 50% off one item coupon was about to expire, so I placed an online order for store pickup of a 48" level that I want to replace. I set the pick-up location to an Ace store closer to home, since it would take a few days to get the item to a store. I stopped by a local Ace Hardware later on Friday to get a few advertised small tools. During the day Friday and Saturday I made 2 stops each at CVS and Rite Aid to get some of their deals. I finished with a stop at a CVS in a Target in Connecticut to get a flu shot (free with insurance, plus a $5 Target coupon available in most states, but not New York or Massachusetts. And later a stop at a second Rite Aid in Connecticut and one near home just before midnight Saturday.
  20. The results of the poll are consistent with reports on the transition in Black Friday shopping. Slightly more people indicated they would be shopping the leading online sites than the leading stores. As many have commented in other threads, this was reflected by what most of us who did go to stores saw: somewhat fewer people overall (and also more spread out). The "winners" for in-store shopping were Target, Walmart, and Kohl's. The "winners" for online shopping were Amazon, Kohl's, and Target.
  21. I looked around for the same thing, as I prefer prepaid service, but didn't find any, especially for the more recent higher end phones.
  22. I did this poll for some years starting in 2010, but have skipped the past few years. So here it is again, with some changes to the list of stores. Select all answers that apply under each of the four questions. New this year: a question about shopping for mobile phones on Black Friday week.
  23. Not sure about discounts at Cracker Barrel, but if you are a Rite Aid Wellness Plus member, you can buy one or two $50 Cracker Barrel gift cards at Rite Aid 11/28-11/30 and get $10 Bonus Cash per card, then use them at Cracker Barrel yourself. That is like getting 20% back.
