  1. I am sorry for your loss and you are entitled to your opinion.

BF camping is something certain ppl plan for much like a lot of folks plan kids birthdays, vacations etc. For some, it is as much (even less) about getting a few items as it is about the camaraderie of meeting up with buddies and spending time together before the big day.

I understand all of this, camping for BF is not new to me, I do it every year but if the days people are willing to wait in line keep getting earlier by the year, before we know it you will need to be out there 3 months early .....

  2. Grrr .... looks like no BF for be this year. At first I had not planned to go because my husband passed away last month and the kids and I are just going through the motions. Then I figured, hey this would be a great way to not sit home and stay depressed. Well I just called my store and there are already 2 people camping. Sorry I think it is disgusting, some people have to work and do not have the luxury of camping for 3 days or more. Just one more blow to my already worse year of my entire life.
  3. I just do not understand all of this violence for video games and dvd's. It disturbs me on so many levels.

I also do not understand why a store would allow someone to buy every last game or 3 televisions or all the laptops. I know people have different opinions on buying limits, but if having a limit in place can help to make the entire experience less stressful and quite frankly, safer then they should impose limits. Especially when they only get 4 of each game or three laptops total. I think limits would make it easier on the employees as well.

These stores need to be held responsible for the environments they create. They create the chaos, they create the unsafe conditions. Yes, people need to be held responsible for their actions and the stores need to also.

    You are 100% correct!

The problem is, people will always find a way to get around set rules. The family in front of me with 5 people will just bring 2 tents next time and act like they do not know each other to get around any limits set.

It really is sad and the violence is hard to watch.

The police were called twice before 1:00 am at our best buy for line cutting.

I truly hope no one was in REAL need for law enforcement at that time.

So as much as I would like to see some rules in place, I know human nature, and people who are not nice will remain just that, rules or not :(

  4. The worst black Friday for me ever! I was in line at Best Buy at 11:00 am on Thursday morning. I was not first, the chinese family of 5 (3 adults 2 kids) were first. This was the same family that was 3rd last year and I was nice enough to get them a few tickets they asked for (I was first that year).

I sat there all day and night till 4 am Friday to find out our store only had 3 of the $189. laptops and the chinese family took every one of the tickets. Did I mention they made it clear they were not there for that computer all night long? Did I mention how clear I made it that I WAS, and very excited that I was finally able to replace my dead laptop.

I left there at 4 am in tears, might sound stupid to some but I was upset on so many levels.

Anyone know if there store only got 3 of that computer??????????????????

I look forwaord to this day all year like most of you, this experience has made this my last.

  5. Did anyone else get this computer??

It was the $299. PC e-machine bundle. We are so far very happy with the computer itself but when you try to install the printer it CAME with you get a pop up saying it is not compatible with with the computer (windows 7).

I also bought the $99. blue ray which was BROKE right out of the box so when I took it back I asked about the printer issue.

The manger went to the back and looked it up on the HP (they gave an hp printer) website and it says it IS compatible. So I know I am not crazy and he said something about downloading new drivers??

Shouldnt this stuff work without all the fuss??

  6. My store on BF did not ticket and items except for the front page. After waiting in line for two days and being in the top 6 (arrived wed. @ noon), we were told to go to the back and wait in line for any laptops. They had decided the were going to let people walk down an isle and grab the laptop of their choice one at a time. However they did do a very good job making sure the other people in the store didn't grab one in the chaos. Then after seeing how long this process was taking, they decided to open to other "registers" in the "laptop isle" So two other lines formed, but it was not the front people in the 1st line. Needless to say, my line got held up by a customer paying and the other two lines of people that arrived that morning got all the HP's. Plus every computer was optimized at $99 above the ad price. When we talked to the manager and said it was unfair, she called in the police... I am a teacher and there were bad words or screaming. So after being escorted out. We called the media. Fox news came by interviewed us and the manager. After being put in an awkward position, she decided to give our group and the group of two people in front of us a $200 g/c.

I just wish the managers would READ the page that says what is suppose to be done across the board :(

  7. No, the policy was apparently changed at will. They pulled this stunt with our group. We had enough people to counter most of this, but we will have a better strategy next year, including the corporate policy printed out, along with an understanding beforehand on what they will or will not attempt to do. We had one of the most frustrating times ever, and will elaborate in another section.

post a link I would love to read about it.

  8. thanks for letting me know. The boys have been comparing all the ads to decide which store had the best deal and are now planning their camping strategy. to be honest, teenage boys are probably the least likely people to sell the game systems on ebay. My son sold off a bunch of his outgrown toys, books, and video games to save up for black friday shopping for his xbox. :yup:

How did you make out?? I did not bring my daughter but the guy behind me had his son who looked about 9 or 10. They intended to get 3 laptops ($197.) and JUST before they came out with tickets an employee announced that NO ONE under 18 would get a ticket.

I spoke up and told them they are contradicting the policy on there site and they could not have cared less.

So I wonder if this was just our store????

  9. ok so I got the $99. insignia at BB and I see you guys saying it is not wireless ....

My TV is not near a computer, can anyone help me? How do you "wire" this? What do you hook the either net cord to?

    I am so confused ....

  10. We were #1 in line at our Best Buy at 9:30 Thursday morning.

I was happy I had no worries about getting what we came for but I was so socked at home many people came to us and asked us to get tickets for "stuff" for them.

My son (age 18 got the HP 198. laptop)

    I got:

    $198. HP laptop

$99. Blue Ray (with free beetle juice blue ray movie

$119. white with pink dots digital camera

    $299. E-machine PC

Hubby was at Sears and got:

$19.99 - down comforters (x4 1 for each of us)

$29.99 - Ihome Ipod clock radio

$29.00 - new balance sneaks for hubby

All in all I think we did pretty well.

The comforters alone were a steal.

  11. thanks for the info on this. My son and his friends are planning to go to best buy to get the xbox systems. I wasn't sure if they would give a ticket to teen boys (they range in age from 15-18). I will be over at WM so I wasn't sure if there would be a probelm with them getting a ticket without a parent present. Of course, my son is well over 6' and has been known to claim to be 18 if the situation requires it. lol

And no, not worried about the cold. All but one of the boys is a boy scout and they do the polar bear campout every year including last year's 25 below zero windchill. They are going as a group for safety reasons and each will have a cell phone.

As far as the comments about tickets to kids in general -- if the person with the ticket is the one in line who is paying for it - not an issue to me, but I would hope that no store manager would give a ticket to a toddler or infant b/c the parent has them in line. and you really can't enforce any type of age rule b/c most kids don't have any idea that would show their age unless they are old enough to drive. There are a lot of families with more than one child who are looking to buy identical gifts for their children.

just an FYI I did go to our store and chatted with the manager. He said it is at the discretion of management (I would have a print out of the rules and give it to your boys to show them if there is a problem.

  12. If this was any other brand other than HP, I'd camp out for one. HP quality sucks! Many deals out there now and over the last two months seem better than any BF "specials" :( What happened to BB having Toshiba on BF? Like the $250 celery 3 years ago? Looks like I'm gonna do most my shopping online this year.

I got that junk 3 years ago and it has been nothing but problems ever since. It is slower and we have had to replace the cord 3 times. If they had a Toshiba for $100. I would have passed.

HP for me any day of the week!!!

  13. Last night when this page became active it was CLEARLY stated that you need tickets for all these items.

I just looked and it says NOTHING about tickets anymore ... ??

Can you imagine if they decided to not do tickets all of a sudden??
