ltd commodities christmas catalog is out
peppysfireball replied to bulldoglover78's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I agree. I refuse to pay shipping chrges when there are so many places who offer it free. -
Some of the stuff is available at sale price now. I happened to see the Redhead binoculars listed and had seen them in a catalog they sent me for the same price. I clicked on them and it took me to their page with sale price in effect.

We went back Sunday to get more and the only one left was Where the wild things are, but they had a binful still of DS and Playstation games.

Yes, last year i bought the guitar hero with gift card and returned it wwhen Amazon beat the price. You have to return the card or they deduct the amount from the return. -
Do Sears Hometown stores have same deals on appliances?
peppysfireball replied to Mistygirl's topic in 2010
Yes, the small stores have the same sales on the items they carry. -
The only way I would use the wilton is if I wanted colored because you CANNOT put food coloring in the almond bark or it will seize up. I use plain old almond bark.. My family likes the white, but sometimes I use the chocolate also. Be sure and tap the pretzel on the fork gently until all the excess runs off. If you only use the unbroken pretzels, you can get 2 bags out of one package of almond bark. It tastes better than wilton discs also. Be sure and stir every 30 seconds in the microwave as it only takes a few seconds over to burn.

Walmart tends to sell the off brands and since you can't fix a flat screen, I will stick with Samsung and LG even if they cost a little more.

Illinois is the only state requiring a firearm owners id card. I let mine expire as I've never fired a gun and got tired of my husband sending me everywhere to get his ammo at deer season. He's always wanting guns for xmas, so i just ordered from Bass pro which is out of Missouri. They have lax laws there. I was really shocked it was sitting on the front porch for anyone to take. People talk about strict gun laws, but they aren't really.

I cover the regular pretzels using almond bark. Melt it in the microwave and use a dipping fork, very easy.

For the first question, my husband says Cuddeback is the only brand to buy, so he recently bought the Cuddeback Capture IR, which is 200. It just has a simple dial to set it, very easy. For the firearm question, I do know I buy from Bass Pro because they do not have a store in Illinois and do not follow Ill laws. I do not have a firearm card and I can call and order a gun and two days later it is sitting on my porch.

Yes, I would never buy an off brand in an electronic. Those flat screens cannot be repaired so it's best to get a good brand like LG or Samsung, which are the two best. I've had several employees in different stores tell me this and after reading the reviews, I won't buy anything else. -
Walmart had a binful at my town for 5.00. Unfortunately my son wants the expensive ones, but he saves his allowance and buys those hisself or asks for them for xmas.

When my daughter asked for a pony, she got it! But we are a horse family. My kids get what they ask for unless it's absolutely absurd. My son is 13 and his friend is on his third ipod. I see nothing wrong with it, They are very educational.

What I was told also. I was told plasmas have a better picture and longer life span , but used to have a bad rep for getting hot, I was told the new ones don't. Same salesman also told me led's are better than lcd, but more expensive, but to keep in mind it is cheaper to buy new when they break than to repair. Plasma's are also cheaper, he said I could get a bigger plasma cheaper than a smaller lcd. I am still leaning toward lcd. Also, lg and samsung are top of the line by far, I ended up buying two samsung's for our bedrooms and love them.

Also, if you don't have a sales receipt, the warranty starts from the date it was manufactured. Unless it was bought from Amazon, then it is void.
-
Keep in mind anything bought from Amazon has no manufacturer's warranty. I bought most of my electronics from them last year not knowing this. My son had the Coby one that walmart had for 49 two years ago. He used it constantly and it quit last week. I bought an item from Amazon last month that had a 50 rebate. The manufacturer refused the rebate and informed me anything from Amazon has no warranty. When looking at an Ipod touch this morning on there, I noticed the words at the bottom that said it came with a 30 day Amazon only warranty and manufacturer warranty was void.

How Much Money do you take out on Black Friday?
peppysfireball replied to sweetdiggity's topic in 2010
I don't carry cash, I write checks. I usually get the important stuff online at midnight, so I can just enjoy myself and browse while my mom freaks out because everything she wants is gone. My daughter divorced and she had 3 stepkids, so there are 4 less people to buy for, but i thought I'd spend more on her and my son is in Iraq so I won't spend as much on him since I have to ship it over there. My ds 13 can't think of anything because he has it all, but his portable dvd player is screwing up , so I'm going to get him a better one and he may want an ipod touch. I don't budget, just buy what I want. -

Open a christmas club at your bank. You can't remove it and it adds up quick. I had 850 in it last year and 750 this year because I didn't open it until February. I already have my check and just kept paying into it, so already started on next years. -
I shop nothing but dell after 3 crappy systems. My son just paid 7 for one like you are suggesting, but his is an HP. He loves it, My reason for buying Dell is their customer service is unbeatable. I can still call for the 9 year old system, I have because before 2004 they had free tech support included.

Yes, internet is free with wii. My son has the xbox and has to pay. I have netflix and just last week it upgraded so you don't have to use the netflix disc, you can put the channel right on your wii. Wii is so much more for young kids than the xbox. It just seems older boy to me.

xmas clubs are wonderful. Last year I managed to put 850 in mine and it was wonderful not worrying about money. I didn't start it until February this year and had 750, but I take out 25 out of every paycheck so it's not even missed. I was able to spend so much more on my kids this way. I just got my check a few weeks ago and just kept putting money in , so next year I should habve 1200 . Of course I've been buying all year, so I spend more than this.

My son is 13 and has no interest in the DSi. He has lots of old game boy games that work just fine and hasn't come across a game yet he can't play. He says it's just the camera thing and since he has a nice Sony camcorder, he doesn't want it.

I am totally shocked that relatives would spend this much.30 is more than adequate. My mother spends that on grandchildren. It's really not appropriate in my opinion to spend that on nieces and nephews. I usually spend 15 or 20 on mine and I don't have that many. My sister says every year we should draw names. When they come of age, I don't buy for them at all. Only the children are bought for. A lot of people spend less than that on their own children. I try to keep my own children around 2-300, but only have one left at home and I spend more on him. My grandchildren I try to buy about 6 presents for, but I bargain shop and get really nice deals so it's not as much money.

Lego site beware - bricktrainshop.com
peppysfireball replied to MonsterMutts's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
My son who is 25 has collected legos since he was about 4 and my 13 year old is the same way. I went on the site and it is a collectors site of hard to find manuals and pieces. THat's what it says on the front page. I can see how it's confusing though, I get mad like that with customer service too, but I usually get good results. At least with credit cards, you can refute the charge and get your money back.
