  1. As of today, they have stores in these states... Connecticut Maine Massachusetts New Hampshire New Jersey New York Pennsylvania Rhode Island Vermont Online sales must be picked up at a store and only Insiders can place online orders. Everything good requires a FREE Insiders membership. Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold.
  2. I just noticed that I have not shopped at Shaw's in November. I used to shop there weekly. A few minutes ago I deleted another coupon from Bed, Bath & Beyond. Except for motor oil and Sudafed, I don't shop at Walmart anymore. I haven't used Amazon's Subscribe and Save since August 6th. While I placed 91 orders at Amazon in 2023, only eight were in the last three months and 91 is down 44% from the 163 placed in 2022. My last order on Amazon.com was a month ago -- nothing this Christmas season so far. I have not bought anything from Kohls since June and I only spent $13.99. Nothing from Best Buy since June. This spring I bought a couple 100' patch cables at Staples because I was in a hurry. Last purchase at Home Depot was 9/5/2023. I have decided not to purchase Ford vehicles going forward -- I've bought nine since I started driving. The last one in 2016. We haven't had cable since 2010. I haven't paid for local, local long distance, or long distance since 2008. We are about to fire Verizon. None of these merchants has gone out of business except BB&B which has reemerged as online only. I don't boycott. I have stopped doing business with them because of price, selection, service, and/or rewards programs. For most retailers, rewards programs have become less attractive over the last decade. Most reserve their best offers for new customers. Some exempt so many items as to render the program worthless. One, though, has changed the way I shop. In September of 2021, I bought a Z Grills Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker for $399.99 from Ocean State Job Lot. It was the same price on Amazon.com. OSJL included a store credit of $200 with the purchase. In March of 2023, I purchased an Arcade1up Asteroids partycade from OSJL. I paid $299.99 for the partycade -- $100 less than it was on Amazon -- and I got a store credit for $299.99. Since then I have purchased six more partycades under the same terms as well as a projector, an exercise bike, and a carpet cleaner -- all including a store credit equal to the purchase price. OSJL has a table called 'eat for free' where you get store credit for any items purchased equal to the purchase price. At first, I was simply excited to get all the free stuff. Eventually it occurred to me that the stuff wasn't really free if I did not spend the store credit. So I studied the store's products and prices. First casualty was Subscribe and Save. I found I could purchase the same items at OSJL for the same price as SnS without buying by the case. Second casualty was non-fresh grocery items. And then clothes. And hardware store items. I used store credit to purchase vinyl plank flooring for my kitchen. While my quest for value is relentless, no merchant has disrupted my shopping as much as OSJL since Amazon. Happy shopping! PS they sell Christmas trees and decorations, winterizing items, and furniture.
  3. Just a couple days out from BF and I don't have a list. I have not looked at ads. I don't plan on going shopping. A lot of people are telling me the same thing. So, what happens if no one goes shopping on BF or CM? My theory is that the stores end up with a lot of merchandise and scramble to sell everything before Christmas. I suspect we would see dramatic markdowns increasing as Christmas approached. That's how things worked when I was a kid and I would be happy if it became the norm again. I remember my mother would drag me off to the stores a couple days before Christmas to snag the best deals. My dad would buy The Gift -- usually during the summer -- and my mother would fill the living room with cheer. Good times!
  4. The best toy I have ever owned is the ATGames Legends Ultimate Arcade full size cabinet which I joined Sam's Club just to buy a couple BFs ago. Since then, I have purchased seven Arcade1up party-cades. These have less games, but cost less and are more widely available. They are designed to sit on a counter, hang over a door, or hang on a wall using provided hardware. PCs have 17" displays. Controls are near arcade quality and vary by the collection of games. Dimensions are 18.5"W x 7.5"D x 28.75"H (despite what you may read in the specs). The games are arcade quality. Amazon sells these... The first PC I bought was which includes Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Tempest, Super Breakout, Lunar Lander, Gravitar, Warlords, and Avalanche. Control set includes a spinner and buttons. My second PC was the Super Pac-Man model which includes Super Pac-Man, Pac-Man, Pac-Land, Pac-Mania, Dig Dug, Dig Dug II, Mappy, Rompers, Rolling Thunder, New Rally-X. I thought I was done once I bought Ms. Pac-Man with Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Dig Dug 2, Pac & Pal, Pac-Man Plus, and Super Pac-Man. I was wrong and have since purchased Centipede (Centipede, Millipede, Crystal Castle, Missile Command, Liberator, Akka Arrh, Super Break Out, and Avalanche), Galaga, (Galaga, Galaga '88, Gaplus, Galaxian, King & Balloon, Xevious, Dragon Spirit, Bosconian, Motos, and Grobda), Ms. Pac-Man 40th Anniversary edition (Ms. Pac-Man, Pac & Pal, Dig Dug, Hopping Mappy, Tower of Druaga, New Rally-X, Rally X, Rompers, King & Balloon, and Mappy), and Defender (Defender, Joust, Rampage, Gauntlet, Sinistar, Root Beer Tapper, Bubbles, Wizard of Wor, Klax, and Gorf). I am lobbying Arcade1Up for a Space Invaders Party-Cade. These go in and out of stock on Amazon.com and elsewhere. Obviously, highly recommended for any child of the 80s. Due to post limitations on this thread, if you would to discuss these in depth, please start a new topic or PM me.
  5. I just noticed that Target is 5% cash back at Target for the holidays. Happy shopping!
  6. I shop everywhere. Just about every retailer is on my 100 mile daily commute. My favorite store to shop has the items I want at the best price. I joined Sam's to get a great deal on a Legends Ultimate Arcade. Used my coupons and discounts then moved on. Joined Costco to get a great deal and warranty on a computer. Bought one somewhere else and haven't been in a warehouse since.
  7. Early up. Long lines. Limited stock.
  8. We are waiting for the Apple watches that can report blood sugar levels in real time noninvasively. Looks like a two year wait. That will be insanely good or something like that.
  9. I was in Target last night. It's been many years since my last visit. The store has changed a LOT and for the better. I always liked Target for toys and camping gear. They had stuff no one else carried. They had 7-11ish groceries back them. Now, they have a Walmart like grocery store (except with stuff I want to eat) and the rest is much smaller, BUT they still have mostly the same stuff -- just less of it. I was in there for this: https://www.target.com/p/fisher-price-laugh-38-learn-mix-38-learn-dj-table/-/A-87822486?ref=OpsEmail_Order_609&j=191057&sfmc_sub=175001633&l=20_HTML&u=137790583&mid=7284873&jb=10682207 It was $31. Amazon was $45 (now $31) plus shipping and Walmart was $45 (also now $31) with pickup. Macys was $45 at the time of purchase. It's $31 now as well, but too far away for local pickup. I did not like their social mess, but saw no evidence of transgressions last night. I think I will shop there more often going forward. Maybe get a Red Card
  10. Each BF eve, I used to stop into Staples to see where they set up the good stuff and how much they had. A few years back, I was shopping for a $99.99 32" LCD. I didn't see any so I asked the manager about the item. He said they only had one and it wasn't out yet. I asked where they were going to put it and he advised me to sleep in and grab one off line for the same price minus a $10 coupon. So I slept in. Next morning I head to Staples when my order is ready. While I am checking out, I hear a familiar voice. It's a guy I usually stood in line with. He slept in too. We shopped Staples then Home Depot then Walmart (all in the same shopping center). His phone rings. He says, "Guess who I'm shopping with?" Then, "How did you know?" BF used to be fun.
  11. Thank you. If you PM me the gps coordinates of the location where you plan to install an antenna, I can see what reception should be like for you and recommend an antenna. My antennas are in my attic, so weather is never an issue. I would never put anything smart at the perimeter of my home. Too much risk. I prefer a deadbolt that cannot be opened from outside. I would never leave a key outside either. If you have a car with a keypad entry system, you could hide a key in the/each car. Some phone cases have compartments for credit cards. That is a good place for a spare key. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-home-security-system/
  12. I have lost interest to some extent. Most of the participants I enjoyed discussing deals and tech with have dropped off. All I ever really wanted were the cool GD t-shirts and they are getting more difficult to acquire. Let's try to focus on deals, ads, and lines for 2024. I know this is more difficult as BF deals and events wane, but there are still deals to be had and lines to be waited in. I know ads are spread out and deals are disappointing, but we all need to shop for Christmas and there are always deals to be had. Personally, my kids have new PCs (last year) and new phones (year before) and I have no idea what to give them this year. I am hopeful that this forum will inspire me.
  13. Yes. My son was adding peppermint to a smoothie one morning, took a whiff of the extract and proclaimed that it really cleared his head. I did a little reading and decided these would be worth a try. It clears my head at least momentarily. I prefer not to take drugs -- even over the counter medications -- so this works for me.

  16. It's been more than two months since I unpacked my $475 75" Toshiba C350 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV (75C350KU). The TV is $890 at Best Buy this week and no longer available at Amazon. I still have not seen one on display. rtings.com's reviews of this model continue to be pure speculation as they have not tested one to date. 192 Best Buy consumers rate the set at 4.7. Three 'expert reviews' on the BB site rate it at 3.0, but they are not reviewing the same television. I give it five stars. Most of the televisions in my home are 55" 4K UHD TCL Roku TVs. All of the televisions in my home have a 4K FireTV Stick in an HDMI port. Except this one. This is my first FireTV. Naturally, it has a Roku plugged into an HDMI port. It also has two TiVo Roamio OTA DVRs attached. And a PC. Inasmuch as I mostly enjoy broadcast TV, a TiVo is the most common interface on this television. I have the TV configured to power on to the 'last used' input so there is no need to navigate from the FireTV to the TiVo. When I want to watch an app on the Roku, I simply pick up the Roku remote and press a button. There is a button for Live TV on the Toshiba remote and tapping that button takes me to the FireTV Live Guide. All the remotes control power and sound on the television, so single remote operation requirement is met. I do not use any of the apps on the TiVo. At one time, a TiVo was the only device attached to my TVs. As the boxes have aged and TiVo has failed to update the apps, performance has fallen off. When I can't find something to watch on the TiVo, I switch to either the FireTV or the Roku. I use Amazon's Live TV on some televisions in my house since it integrates OTA (if you have a Recast or a Sling TV DVR) and OTT into a single guide. No need for an antenna connection at these sets, BUT, when I have an antenna connection nearby, I prefer a TiVo and a Roku. Still waiting for someone to post recommended picture settings, but I am happy with the picture quality, coloring, and scaling of this set out of the box. I'm not examining pixels with a magnifying glass and my 60 year old eyes may be less discriminating than some, but the tv looks great to me. Viewing angles are wide. The TV even handles re-scaling the Recast's 720p stream well. While sound levels vary among inputs and even some apps, I am very happy with the sound quality. I would buy this television again at $475 but given a choice between a similarly priced and spec'd TCL Roku television and this one, I would get the Roku TV. Here's why... Unique Features for Cord Cutters (I believe these are available on their Android sets as well)... PSIP Grid Style Electronic Program Guide: The TCL Roku TVs build the guide using data streamed in the RF TV signal. No need for a service or even an Internet Service Provider. Live TV Pause: When an antenna is connected to your Roku TV, you can pause and playback broadcast TV for up to 90 minutes.Unique Apps F2V TV: Free to View TV is an app that streams broadcast TV from free, legal and official online places. All streams can be found publicly, nothing unofficial or bootlegged. PlayOn/PlayLater: PlayOn Desktop is the only OTT DVR for Roku. Record from over 100 popular sites including Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO and Amazon. Cast or stream your recordings to your Roku; automatically skip the ads.Great Service When one of my TCL Roku 55" 4K UHD sets crapped out under warranty -- just under warranty -- TCL sent a guy to my home to fix the set in my living room. The fact is that I do not expect to use my C350's FireTV GUI at all once I drop Prime on the 7th. Just the same, I highly recommend this television...at $475 ;-)
  17. Interesting and unclear to me even after reading a few articles. It seems a lot of companies are buying bits and pieces of Kmart, but that Wesfarmers owns the company. It's also unclear to me if the Aussie Target and the US Target are the same company. Wesfarmers to roll out cheaper product ranges as inflationary pressures bite (smh.com.au) Mr Scott said the company planned to absorb price rises where it can, saying passing on hikes would be a “last resort”. It also plans to roll out new, cheaper product ranges, particularly for Kmart and Target, to provide a “good range of products at the value end”. His comments came after Wesfarmers said net profit had fallen 14.2 per cent to $1.21 billion in the six months to the end of December, largely due to a huge slide in profits at its Kmart, Target and Officeworks chains. Revenue overall stayed flat, slipping by just 0.1 per cent to $17.7 billion. Shares in the company slumped almost 7.5 per cent to $50.81, hitting their lowest price in over six months. Kmart and Target’s profits slumped 63.4 per cent to $178 million as both retail chains were heavily impacted by supply chain shortages and store closures during the COVID lockdowns earlier in the half. Are Target Australia And Usa Same Company? – ictsd.org Who Owns Target In Usa? Australia has 300 Targets owned by Wesfarmers Limited, which was founded in 1926 by Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers Limited. As for the Target Corporation, the company owns the stores that bears the same name in America. Is Kmart And Target Owned By The Same Company? The decision was made by Wesfarmers, which also owns Kmart and Target, as a way to improve their commercial viability. Is Kmart And Target The Same Company? Approximately 50,000 Kmart team members work at over 462 Kmart stores across Australia and New Zealand that belong to The Kmart Group. Who Currently Owns Target? Conclusion. Although Walmart has bought a number of Target stores, many of which have become walmart franchisees, Target still holds a 49% stake in the company. Target opened the first store as a discount outlet in 1962, not as a department store like Dayton’s, which it acquired in 1978. Who Owns Target Now? Walmart will no longer own Target by 2022, at the latest. Since 2000, Target Corporation has owned the company, which used to be known as Dayton-Hudson Corporation. Its primary focus remains 1900 discount and mass merchandise retail stores in all 50 states under this name (which is very popular now). states. this is? Do you know it??
  18. Kmart down to its last 4 stores in the US | Springfield Business Journal (sbj.net) With two stores slated to close, Kmart will be down to its last four locations open in the United States, according to a report by The Philadelphia Inquirer. Two are located in New Jersey, with one apiece in Long Island and Miami. At its peak, Kmart had 2,400 stores and 350,000 employees in the United States and Canada. Kmart Revenue Plummets As COVID-19 Closes Stores And Keeps Employees At Home » MWD (mwdentallab.org) Kmart Group reported revenues were down 63.4% from $478 million to $178 million, and revenues fell 9.6% to $4.9 billion. (AAP) “The combined revenue of Kmart and Target fell 55.8% during the halving to $222 million, reflecting the significant impact of the government-ordered store closures, resulting in a loss of nearly 25% of store trading days during the halving and higher returns. Reduced costs and reduced inventory availability due to domestic supply chain disruptions,” said Scott.
  19. Thank you, but there's no need to be sorry. I'm simply rethinking my retail relationships and returning to my B&M roots. People always said about Prime, "It's great that they have movies and music, but I mostly have it for the free shipping." For me, the free shipping isn't that good. Time to try something else.
  20. I don't. I think I am simply fed up with the online retailers and the warehouse stores. I don't like to have to pay for the privilege of buying from a merchant. I really do not like not getting what I am promised when I pay for the privilege of buying from a merchant. And I REALLY, REALLY don't like waiting in a chat queue to fix their screwups. If I find myself completely bored, I will break down my spending this holiday season. I big chunk went to Best Buy and a bigger chunk went to merchants I never heard of before researching a purchase. Walmart, Kohls, Staples, BB&B got nothing from me. I could have gotten 5% off my 75" TV had I bought it with my Prime card, but Paypal gave me 7% off the same price for using their Mastercard. I used to get my spices, nuts, and other cooking staples from Amazon, but now I use my OSJL Crazy Cash to buy those things.
  21. This is what my Prime Orders look like right now... ORDER PLACED February 5, 2022 Not yet shippedORDER PLACED February 5, 2022 Arriving SaturdayORDER PLACED February 4, 2022 Arriving Feb 12 - Feb 13On the way, but it's running late Chances are three of these orders will be damaged or not what I ordered. They may be left at my front door, at my back door, or at my mailbox. Monday, I had a box left at my mailbox after I went to bed. It was pouring out. The box was not in a plastic bag. When I grabbed the box, it disintegrated. I was lucky the plastic wrapper on the merchandise was not damaged otherwise, another order back to Amazon.
  22. This is my situation. Prime Days sucked this year. Over Christmas, I found better deals at Target and Best Buy than Amazon. Yes, I do tend to order single items because shipping is free, but I don't need to. I struggle to find value in Subscribe and Save. In general, Amazon has not lived up to shipping promises and a LOT of my orders have arrived damaged. While there is a lot of great programming included with Prime, I own my favorite shows, movies, and music. I'm really too lazy to look for something I want anyway. For the most part I fall asleep to the 'best available' 'by appointment' programming. Besides my antenna, the FireTV program guide includes OTT services like Plex, Sling, Pluto, Tubi, News by Fire TV, and others. There's always something on. I also have a Roku attached and the Roku TV app includes a lot of free on demand and live programming. from %5BConfirmed%5D Price for Amazon Prime Membership Will Increase To $139 (Up From $119) - Doctor Of Credit Let me know if you need help with FREE TV
  23. Thanks. Good information. I would not have renewed at $59/yr.
