We gave the Meater the night off. Tonight, St. Louis style ribs, collard greens, and roasted sweet potatoes are what's for dinner. First time in the big countertop oven. First win is that the entire slab of ribs fits just fine. Used to have to cut the slab in half. Second win is that I can roast the sweet potatoes at the same time I am baking the ribs.

I suspect they are all fairly similar, but I have experience only with the Meater and I like it. The probe is stored in a box that serves as a battery powered charger and communications hub. You place the box close to the oven, it receives data from the probe and passes it to the app. The app is slick. Open the app and start a cook, choose your meat, choose your cut, and choose your cooking method. Put the probe in the thickest part of the meat and start your cook. Meater will keep track of the cook progress, the ambient temperature, and the temperature of the meat. Meater will tell you when to remove the meat from the heat and when it is rested. That's about it. Tonight, I am cooking a rotisserie chicken in that oven I posted. I have the 'special effects' control set to rotisserie/convection, so the fans and spit are spinning. The recipe calls for preheat to 350. I won't do that because it hurts to sear your forearms on 350 degree heaters. I will simply mount the bird on the spit, put it in the holes, then run the oven at the highest temperature top and bottom until I reach 350. I will also ignore the cook times and rely on my Meater to let me know when the chicken is done. Oh, and I will be playing Galaxian on one of those Arcade1up cabinets. Life is good. xoxo...len!

I'm the right person. This is a very large toaster oven/convection oven with rotisserie. You can easily roast a six-pound bird on the spit. What I like, though is that the controls are analog. The top knob controls the temp of the top heater. The second controls special effects (fans). The third controls the temp of the bottom heater. The fourth is a timer. When the timer is counting down a very bright LED lights the interior. You have very precise control of the oven. You can cook the crust of a pizza without burning the toppings. You can bake a meatloaf on the bottom shelf while roasting vegetables up top. What's not to like? You have to cook. There are no presets. You need to use a thermometer to preheat the oven. On the other hand, the controls are persistent. Most of the time, I leave the oven set to 350 with the fans off and simply spin the timer. The timer is only to 60 minutes, so you may need to set an external timer and spin the dial a couple times during a long cook (ribs). Like I said, it's not for everyone, but I love it.

Once I stick the probe in my protein, I launch the app and choose the parameters of my meal. Meater keeps an eye on my food, letting me know when to rest and serve and how long until dinner is done. I highly recommend this kitchen tool.

Amen. My last 'deal' was a Elite Cuisine French Door Oven with Rotisserie, Convection and Separate Top and Bottom Heating Controls (kohls.com) for which I paid <$100. While I'd give it five stars, I could only recommend it to a few people. The toaster oven is huge. The cavity is 16.5"x16"x8.5". I have cooked a seven pound bird on the spit, but six is really the max I would do going forward. It's easy to get things on and off the spit. There are four analog controls. Top one controls the temp of the top heater, next one is special effects (fans, rotisserie, etc.). The next one controls the bottom burner. The bottom is the timer. The other night, I baked a meatloaf on the bottom shelf and roasted potatoes and veggies on the top. The inside is well lit as long as the machine is in operation. It was cheap. The $106 order included a thermometer (there is no preheat function) and hand towels (filler to get to $100 to get $20 Kohls Cash).

Change is not always welcome. I have a Kohls card, enjoy coupons, discounts, and the continuous rotation of merchandise year-round. BUT, I am not thrilled with the Sephora 'experience'. A significant chunk of the store has been repurposed for items that do not interest me or, apparently, anyone else. I think it's great that Kohls accepts Amazon returns, BUT every time I use their return or pickup options, I have to crawl the store to see where they stashed these services. Generally, these are unstaffed, so I have to find someone to find someone to help me. I cannot remember the last time a shipped product arrived in a condition I would gift. This is not peculiar to Kohls. Target and Amazon ship damaged packages as well. They are in the process of resetting the store. Nobody knows where anything is and there is a lot less stuff to choose from. Finally, it seems like coupons can be applied to less and less each year. I still shop Kohls, but a lot less and I buy a lot less when I do shop.
