  1. mmmm....quad shot venti mocha......mmmmm......may have to make it a five-shot for that morning!
  2. I think it would also cut down on the line violence if EVERY store did the number deal.
  3. It was just a thought question. The line types ARE different, but some of the incidents were things like those idiots in KY shooting at folks with BBs like it was target practice or something. I did the BF thing one year...no problems. Will probably do it again. Just thought I would ask the question. Maybe not to keep from going out, but rethinking things. IE, going out with more than one person, no cash, etc. That's all :)
  4. Considering the events that unfolded with the PS3 lines, etc., are any of you worried about crime on BF? I.E., getting shot in line, mugged in line, jumped afterwards for high-demand items? It just got me thinking about how badly I want something, and whether it's worth possibly getting jumped or something.
  5. My Walmart here has boxes all over the place, racks out of place...looks like a war hit it, and it's not even BF yet!!!! All I remember is that the aisles were impossible to pass through....
  6. I'll look into that. Especially if we decide on a bigger item...I'd have issues with (a) being by myself and ( getting it in and out of the car that early in the morning. Thanks!!
  7. So if I'm looking on something that is going to be on sale at that time, just not a doorbuster, they would help me out with getting the item?
  8. Okay...what is this personal shopper thing? Only time I've heard of this is in clothing stores. How does it work? What do they do for you at BB?

Another good idea....portable toilets. Would save people from leaving (well, ladies because we all know men will just go in the nearest bush or bit of grass, or a bottle, or whatever! )

That's probably what I'll do this year. I only waited 2 hrs at WM last year (and even then, had the line stayed the way it was I would have been in a good spot -- only half way down the side of the building...ambush and rush not good). But this year I think BB will get my business, and by the sounds of it, I'll need to get there early. Like I said, luckily they just opened a brand new, huge BB about 10 minutes away, so I'm sure folks will clamor for that one.

Umm...no offense but I wouldn't leave a child alone at home for a few hours like that. I used to live in Orlando and a girl down the street was kidnapped from her house while she was alone, and she was 13. Scared the crap out of me and I slept with the lights on for weeks after that.
  12. I've got BB, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond in one plaza, and just before that there's Wal-Mart, all within about 2 mi. The nice thing is that they've supposedly opened another BB at a massive mall here (very popular place for BF) so I'm hoping that will diminish the crouds at this older, smaller BB
  13. "most items available Thanksgiving Day at Circuitcity.com" HUH? Does this mean you can buy the stuff online for store pickup or what?

I agree on the numbers thing. They really need to hand those out. When they hand them out you've got it, and THEN if you want to rotate/go eat/bathroom, etc., there's no real issue about cutting versus not cutting, etc. That would solve a lot of issues. You get there, get a number and leave if you need to. Tell everyone they HAVE to be back at least 1-2 hours before the open (if you can't stand for an hour or two, how will you handle the lines IN the store?), and then there shouldn't be a problem. BTW, for reference, BB line I was in INSIDE the store was about 3 hours to pay for my camera 2 years ago. I had candy in my purse, so I made a trade. I gave the man with his 7 year old some candy for the kid, and he'd hold my place so I could go to the bathroom!!!
  15. I can provide some, and not in a good way. My husband and I just bought that computer with a 17" flat panel (not the slim) plus an HP printer that came with it for...*gulp*.... umm.... *whispering* $329 before taxes. At Best Buy. In September. *throwing BB BF list up in the air in disgust* computer itself is great though
  16. We all know what they say about assuming But on national chains like BB, is it safe to say that the hours will be the same nationwide? Thanks.
  17. You want the epitome of abuse? Two words: Bridal shop! Used to work for a large-chain bridal shop, and we got some major abuse (someone drove their car through the front window...'nuf said), and I had lousy days, and NEVER would have thought to insult someone's parenting or other aspects (even the brides that came in with moms insisting that their size 20 bride could fit into an 8 and it was our fault that she couldn't) of their person. customers can be lousy, obnoxious, rude, etc. It's Customer Service's job to provide service, and if they can't, call a manager and let THEM take the abuse -- they get paid more.

I'm in Buffalo, so I know what you mean. But if they're there at 11p.m, and have to stand until 5 or 6 it's not going to feel so warm (plus the whole bathroom deal).
  19. Somewhat related question. I am a Philips employee (I work for a company owned by Philips). Who would be the one to ask about getting the employee discount on BF? There's an online store for the employees, but the BF prices are still pretty neat! Would the stores know this, or should I email Philips?
  20. Hmm...the few bill me later places I've seen (haven't checked WM) take you to a credit card application. Layaway was nice for folks who didn't want to pay a high interest on the credit card for the "luxury" of paying for Christmas things over a few weeks. We are doing this with bedroom furniture right now, and the sales folks were like "Why? You can apply for a credit card!!" And I said, look the rate on the card is what? 20% or something? Why, when I only need about a month to pay it off and the layaway is 90 days? It's stupid to add a whole new credit card to the mounting debt most people have, when layaway just gives you an extra bit of time with no harm done. Anyhow, BF layaway sounds like a nightmare, so I answered that it would not affect my shopping.
  21. That's fine. Actually, since I live about 2 minutes away, I would have no problem going home and coming back later in the day with my husband once he wakes UP TO HELP ME!!
  22. To the person said the clerk didn't start it. Yes they did with the attitude problem. And as the parent of a now 4 year old...THE THREE YEAR OLD DOES NOT KNOW WHAT FRICKIN' MEANS!!!! They have NO clue. However, the child WILL understand "you're a bad mother", and that will upset the child more than a word they don't understand. So she had EVERY RIGHT to be upset. Ex: someone cursed near my daughter in a restaurant. Didn't call attention to it no big deal. We've told her "stupid" is wrong, because she shouldn't call others "stupid", and she hears ANYONE use the word and she's all over it -- "Mama! She said Stupid! That's bad...not supposed to say it!!" And for the record, does that mean that folks that use the word "firetruck" in place of you know what are also cursing? Give me a break! Back on subject, our CC is like a ghost town, and their prices haven't been that great. No customer service people around to ask any questions. So I go to BB or Walmart.

The only reason I don't have a problem with this (well not too badly) is that especially here up north it can get VERY cold, and there are times that people bring kids with them. Not the best idea to do to BEGIN with, but different topic. I would not expect a 12 year old child to stand in 15-20 degree weather. No way. So if one of the parents waits in the car with them or a family member, and then comes over with them, not really a big issue. There are also folks with breathing problems, sick, etc., where it becomes a hardship, so again, not a huge issue. And if it's one person, no big deal (see the kid example). Now if it's 8 people like I saw once, I might get a bit peeved. My biggest problems are with those that literally stampede from the back and run over people (some using carts), or stand hiding in another area and then rush from another direction to be in there first. Those cause more injuries and problems.
  24. Hi! New poster, but love the site. Stumbled upon it AFTER bf last year! *ick* Wanted to go to BB this year vs Walmart (one word - Trampled), since last time I got a camera at Best Buy for $300 (2 yrs ago). Want a new one or a new DVD based video camera. Also looking at HDTV. Really not impressed with BB this year. Computer deals look good, but I've got three PCs already. One's giving me fits, so might look at that. Question on BB BF -- orders for big items. I go by myself. Will they carry the stuff out for you in that mess, or do they have you come back later? TIA.
