  1. if you aren't worried about the generation, go with a 4th gen, much cheaper and still has facetime and a camera. you could get refurbished direct from apple, same warranty and new casing, they often have deals on them or there are deals on black friday as well. amazon will probably have some deals coming up in the next few weeks. for a 6 year old, craigslist and ebay are options too.
  2. Not a deal, but do not buy the ones that say $99 with purchase of 2 years of xbox live at $15 a month. That's $360 for xbox live + $100 for the system. At full price, getting 2 12 month cards is only $120 ($60 each but there are often deals for $35-$40 each and it's usually $50 on Amazon anyway). So basically, it's $460 in the end and you could get 2 years plus a system easily for under $300 in the upcoming weeks. The equivalent system is regular priced $300, but can often be bought for cheaper. Right now it is $250 with the extra Disneyland game on Amazon. Buying off Amazon today would cost $350 vs. the $99 "deal" that is actually $460 + $20 if you wanted the Disneyland game. Last year there were TONS of deals to get the system for under $200. Amazon repeatedly had it on Lightning deals all season.

This is all based on a 4GB system with Kinect.

For those who don't know what to look for on size and live. For little kids 4GB should be plenty, teens and up I would recommend the 250GB bigger drive. However, on both my Xbox's, I got a better deal to buy the 4GB and pay for the upgrade harddrive afterwards, both times with genuine Microsoft hard drives too (sometimes the drives come with a free game also).

Xbox Live is the online portion. Some of it is free, but not much. It's not required to play games, but is to play online with friends. The cheapest way to get it is pay in 12 month increments, which full price from Microsoft is $60, Amazon usually sells for $50 but fluctuates down to $35 on occasion, and eBay has daily deals every couple weeks for $35 (seller is buy.com and they sell out quick). Obviously lots of other places sell the cards as well.

    Hope that helps.

  3. That link says regular priced item, I guess it was working in error. Customer service told me no codes should work on this item at all and that they removed the other code, but the second code provided did work for me for $7.50 off.

I just finished my conversation with their customer service. I'm really not impressed. Not so much in that they wouldn't honor the code since it was apparently an error, but more the attitude of it. They could care less about my business was basically what I got.

  4. What ipad are you looking for? Wifi only, one with service, which service, what size? I'd also say go with the 4, they are starting to show up other places than Apple now. I know Walmart has them, but Best Buy still doesn't. You are going to find your best deals on 2's and maybe some sporadic 3's to get rid of that stock. I'm personally looking for a 4, 64GB with Verizon. I saw best buy had a good price (779 normally 829) on the 3, but I'm going to hold out for the 4. So maybe check best buy, or apple does have some refurbished ones in stock, they were limited on the 3 64GB, but I think they had all the other sizes and 2's as well.
  5. We did call one time - Something we bought, I don't even know what it was now - dropped like $40 in less than a day! They told us too bad :( I was temped to re buy it and send the first one back when it arrived.

I've had that happen and amazon told me to rebuy it and refuse the first shipment. I've done that many times since and it always works. I only do it when it drops a lot but I did it a few times last Nov and Dec when I bought something and found a lightening deal later.

  6.

Do you know about how much they have been selling for refurbished?

Refurbished...When I got mine it was a gold box deal of the day for $139. They had that deal at least twice. I bought one each time. They were $169 regular for refurbished. That's when it was still $199. (its the model that dropped to $159). The first sale was first week of March I think and then again before mothers day.

  7. I never find good deals at Lego.com. Right now they have the double points and free shipping on $99. Rarely but sometimes that goes down to $75 but with mindstorms you don't have to worry about that. They don't always have free shipping deals and shipping is expensive there. Mind storms would be $18 there if not free. If you are looking at Lego Store this is going to be the best it gets. The double points gives you an extra $30 certificate over the single points. Buying from Lego gets you $55 so looking at any other site you have to consider it needs to be more than $55 cheaper to start. You really aren't going to find that. Black Friday may have a % off coupon but last year was only 10% off $149+ and that's not going to total the $30 extra dollars to use VIP this month. Also if you use cash back sites or credit cards check those. My credit card gives 1% on everything and an extra 3% on Lego.com.

Last year in store they had pull tabs on BF to get 10, 25 or 50% off an entire purchase. Awfully big gamble though to wait and drive that far.

Lego also has a no questions asked return policy if you find a better deal. It's 90 days so it will get you through the Xmas season.

    Good luck.

  8. When thinking size take music into consideration. If they are going to use it as an iPod as well 8 may not be big enough. If they won't use it for music is should be plenty if they don't go crazy on the apps. Mine is a 32GB. The system takes up almost 4GB and I have 7.1GB in music alone. Granted we use the iPhone in the car instead of a cd player. My sister doesn't use it for music at all and 8 is fine for her.

For otterbox go to amazon. Search different ways to get different colors. My otterbox was well worth the full price I paid. When I got mine only otterbox had the verizon version. Now they are everywhere and worth every penny. I've dropped it a ton of times and the phone is like new inside. Get the defender model it has a screen cover built in. They are not waterproof but offer some protection against water damage too.

  9. I got myself and my mom refurbished kindle fires from Amazon for $139 each. That's when they were $199 new. Periodically refurbished would be the gold box deal for an extra $30 off. They were normally $169. I'm sure that's dropped now that the new ones are out.

Most of these "refurbished" we're just returns from people who thought they were like iPads. They were basically brand new but couldn't be sold as new again.

  10. Entertainment books are usually discounted to about $5 and free shipping this time of year. Watch their site for all sorts of deals.

Are you looking for 2012 or 2013? I last had a deal of 2 for $10 on 2012. Had to buy 2. 2013 will be full price for a little bit, but is only $25 if you do the online membership. You can print or use a phone app. If you wait until a little bit into the year the deals will start but usually it's just free shipping in the beginning.

Entertainment also works with most rebate sites, when you link to buy, at a flat $ amount. I think it was like $7 or $10 rebate when I did it.

Another idea is to join Seattle groupon and other like sites for discounts on things.
