  1. as for walmart and their community sponsorship- they have a history of suing towns after they move in because they claim their tax valuations are too high. in my town they want a 50% reduction in their tax bill (to the tune of $11 million) and according to the local press have done the exact same thing in more than 2000 other towns nationwide, saving them somewhere in the hundreds of millions. hundreds of millions that otherwise would have gone directly to support the communities where they're located. so yeah, they might donate a few thousand dollars here and there around the holidays, (which is awfully easy to do when they are saving so much) but most of the people they say they're helping would be a lot better off if they just paid their taxes in the first place like everyone else.
  2. i got the 4g compressor for dh too here in nh. now the problem is where to hide it b/c it's so big. he snoops worse than my 3 kids!
  3. your mom and dad are a different party and can redeem theirs whenever they want. this rule applies when the same party tries to redeem more than one certificate/month at the same restaurant. in other words, if you are regulars at the place then the restaurant doesn't want you and your husband to be getting such a great deal more than once a month. the only thing i'm not sure of is whether they would make a stink if say, you guys went once and then tried to go with your parents when they redeem their g/c in the same month. my guess is that this would be YMMV, depending on whether they recognized you.
  4. we love these coupons!! especially at 60-70 percent off. have been using them for a few years and have never had a problem. certificates are good for 1 year after purchase so yes, they do make good presents. my family just used one last night for dinner and the five of us had a nice meal for less than it would have cost us to go to mcdonalds. just be very careful to read all terms for each restaurant first. some of them will not allow you to redeem on the weekend and some have a minimum purchase requirement. it is a good idea to call the restaurant to make sure they will accept them, or at least ask your server/hostess. also, according to the website, restaurant.com will "buy back" any certificates you dont use and give you a credit towards another purchase (such as if a restaurant goes out of business or no longer participates in the program). again though, we have never had a problem and my only complaint is that there aren't more restaurants to choose from. if you are close to a larger city though, this shouldn't be a problem. these are great for travel, too.
  5. just found the cashmere in the ad scan. TVM!
  6. heres hoping the cashmere sweaters are on the list that have yet to be added
  7. bj's and tru both have it for $39 (tru price was last week, not sure if it went back up or not). tru was demonstrating it when i was there and i have to say it's very cool. its handheld so you just hold it up to what you want to see and it is 200x magnification. when held against your arm you can see all the hairs like they were tree trunks. kind of gross but still very cool
  8. we all (ds8,ds5,dd4,and dh) love geotrax. have been building our set for almost 3 years now, and still going. we love that they are easy to snap together, and stay connected even during heavy use. at this point we can build a track that circles the entire family room and play chicken with each other
  9. outdoor folding lounge chairs finally went to 75% off at my store, have been watching them for weeks. orig. $39.xx down to $8.xx. tons left, 4 different colors, snagged 2
  10. i have always been a "reluctant" wal-mart shopper; dont like their consumer policy, quality of goods, business practices, etc. they have still gotten my money, though, for a variety of reasons including low prices, convenience and the like. for someone like me who has only been able to spend considerable amounts of money in any store for about the last ten years, the total amount that has gone straight to walmarts bank account figures in the tens of thousands. recently in my area, there has been growing discontent with walmart due to what happened when a new super walmart moved in to town. of course, they promised lots of new jobs and a boost to the economy, even contributing extra money to the town for traffic improvements in order to sweeten the deal. what has everyone so angry is that now that walmart is in, they are suing the town, claiming the new tax valuation is too high, and asking for an almost 50% decrease in their tax contribution to the towns economy. and the local news has reported that this is common practice for walmart, that in more than 2000 towns across the country, this is what they do. i dont remember the figure for their resulting tax savings nationwide, but it was in the hundreds of millions. makes me want to puke. i was already considering a boycott due to the tax thing, but this bf ridiculousness is the last straw and the deal is now sealed. NOT ONE MORE PENNY!!!!!
  11. thanks very much! managed to print off six this time, plan to redeem for one of each item for three kids (i know thats a lot of trips to tru but i drive by there twice a day anyway). got three of the littlest pet shop last week. i hope they keep doing this for a while, at this rate i'll be able to fill all three stockings for practically nothing
  12. can someone please post another link? i couldn't print the first time i opened it and it wont let me try again. TIA!

  15. last year on bf they did the kohls cash where you get a $10 gc for every $50 you spend. not sure if this is exclusive to cardholders though
  16. fyi: went first thing sunday morning to get wii games and they were flying off the shelves. quite a few of the titles were sold out already and the clerk wasn't sure if they would be getting more this week
  17. just bought the new vanilla spiced rum flavor. YUM!!
  18. Anyone Have an opinion here? I know the loving family one is popular and also cheaper. I like that the Target one is on a larger scale and will fit the barbie dolls that my DD4 already has so I wouldn't have to buy all new dolls all over again. At almost double the price of the Loving Family, though, I dont know if I will save that much in the doll area. Does anyone know if Target ever marks down the wooden toys or think that it might happen before christmas? If not, I might decide to go for the Loving Family b/c TRU has the accessories B1G1 right now.TIA!
  19. my bj's (nh) has butterscotch for $229 as of this week
  20. the 3 pack of controllers at sams for 75 dollars is not the regular, classic, and nunchuk. they have a different price on that package, something like $60 i believe. and although they dont sell the consoles there it's still worth the trip for the controllers if you've already scored a console and are looking to accessorize to accomodate the whole family
  21. just wanted to let everyone know, i just checked the sams club website and they have a wii remote 3-pack for $75!!!!! fyi, website says available in store only, with very limited quantities. if you have a multi-player household, as i do (3 kids), this is a great deal as they normally retail for $40 each.
  22. walked into cc this morning at 10:30 after many other stops and sale sign was missing from the 40" sony bravia. asked a few associates and it turned out they actually had one left for 1199!!! i guess everyone thought it was already gone and nobody thought to ask, except me that is. cant believe i got it that late in the game.
