  1. UPS and UPS/Walmart/ShopAmex fail again -- 1. American Girl shipped my $ 500.+ order via UPS. It never made the arrival scan for the delivery hub. 3 days later, and several calls to American Girl and UPS, a man showed up at my office door with the box. It went to another building in our complex and the man opened the box with all of his promotional materials. Upon finding the shipping invoice with my correct office address, he very very kindly brought the box to me. UPS never figured it out, and 2 weeks later called me to ask was it still missing. I told them what happened in terms of the box being mis-delivered. No comment from them - not even a "sorry". 2. I ordered a 2GB Philips mp3 player from ShopAmex at the beginning of December, using a small part of my Amex points. I ordered online, filled in ALL of the required information, and lo and behold -- somewhere between ShopAmex and Walmart, they managed to combine shipping and billing addresses. I found this out when I went online to track the package. I called UPS, and they said I had to wait until it reached the delivery hub and then call before it got scanned out for delivery (which would be anytime from midnight on). If I missed the scan, chances were pretty high that the driver would just mark it "address unknown" and it would get returned, losing me the points, etc. 1 hour on hold with ShopAmex/Walmart later, my points were supposed to be straightened out and a 2nd mp3 player was on its way to the proper address. So I went online and ...yep, you guessed it, a screwed up address yet again. Almost a full hour-and-a-half on hold through another combo call, a 3rd mp3 player was ordered; this one had no points associated with it, just a straight cost to me, as I found out when I went online to check up. Well, the morning player #1 was due out, I got a call at home from UPS (was home due to snowstorm) - they were asking what address should have been used. I am apparently in their computer system.... Player #2 showed up several days later at my OLD office address - still in the same complex but another building and floor altogether. A former employee of ours e-mailed me that she had received a package with my name on it. Player #3 showed up the same day as Player #2, but to the correct address - my office. Player #2 and #3 have finally been returned to Walmart.... my credits were processed correctly as far as I know - but it sure took a long time!
  2. We definitely had nothing, our WM closed at 10pm!
  3. I updated this post yesterday about Walmart.com showing the item as "in stock" and orderable (after, of course, I ordered one for me) -- was I WRONG!!! Seems they most likely NEVER had them in stock and took orders anyway. Got a cancellation e-mail this morning, after printing a "will receive by" confirmation page yesterday. Called to speak to a CSM who basically recited the "that's why we have disclaimers on our site" mantra til I was tired of hearing it. When asked how many orders filled vs. cancelled she said that she couldn't even confirm that they ever had any in stock before posting the item on the website. ("the website does that all the time" and "no, your confirmation page DOESN'T show a will receive by date, only a may receive by date - I know that page well". When I offered to fax her the sheet, she declined.) I am beyond disgusted with Walmart.com. I ordered another item from them via ShopAmex that was totally screwed up and that I've spent almost a week trying to straighten out. Ugh.
  4. No, I didn't . Since I'm very new here, I didn't know how or if I could ask if someone could get one on my behalf and we could work out details privately.
  5. Tried to add more than 1 item to my cart and it kept removing the "previous" item. Anyone else had this problem? What did you do?
  6. Where do you live -- the 3 WMs near me are all out. Drove there, called there, no luck.
  7. UPDATE 12/13 -- Walmart.com has this in stock and the .97 shipping should be here by 12/20!! Yippee (got info from another board and posting here if anyone else is interested) Never realized that this would be "limited" - according to local EBGames guy that I trust, there was a problem with the dance pad. I promised brother that we would get this for his girls, and now I'm in deep trouble. Tried every local B&M that sells video games, tried every online version of the B&Ms, even tried ebay! (however, paying $ 125. for a $ 50.00 video game is just not in the budget) Buy.com let me order, but says item is "on order" with no guarantee of if/when - and I have had bad experiences with them on things like this before. TIA for any suggestions.
  8. any disney dvds or laptops? or even the $ 149. desktop? TIA
  9. Not to be a downer, but, same sale as BF and BF weekend. I was disappointed because they had better "bundles" last year for pjs and socks and all. Sweats went down after BF weekend from half of $ 40. to $ 17.99 (maybe I should have posted). On a happy note, however, Aero is one of those stores with a decent price adjust policy -- I went in the Tues after BF, when the sweatshirt price went down, and they gave me the credit.
  10. We are Windows based. Bought hubby the HP Ipaq 1715 for Christmas last year (no wireless). He uses it all the time - schedules, docs, etc. Bought myself the 3115 over the summer - wireless is slow - not really worth it. (jmho) Otherwise, I love it.

    KB toys

We went to KB outlet on BF morning after the Walmart fiasco. 2 sisters made out like bandits - the manager said he'd match all the regular KB ad items as long as he had them - B1G1 Fisher Price!!! And then he called the mall store (about half hour away) and had them check on a couple other things the girls wanted. So we went to the mall and although it was awfully hot and a long line, they ended up with everything they wanted. Lucky them - almost made up for WM mess.
  12. I saw the $ 5.00 Barbies last night - lots of them. I also managed to score the $ 29. DVD player AND the $ 68. personal DVD player (for friend at work, they will be happy). This was at the smaller WM, haven't been to the bigger one recently. Would probably have found more if I had really been looking.
  13. We were 15th in the line and if we had bowled over the people who walked in the store in front of us before 4 am, we would have been 13th. It was a disaster - really hard to tell what number you were. Plus, there was a man in front of us who left (I guess he was #13) and then tried to come back half an hour later. We got to the register, having watched the line jumper be refused his chance and the lady in front of us get the last laptop, and got told "sorry all gone". What REALLY burned was that we watched an employee leave the store at around 4:30 with one of those laptops - which probably should have been ours. (Second issue with the same line was that we watched another employee bring up several of the GameBoys that were on sale and "hide" them under the register - and when we asked about them were told "no, you didn't see anything like that - GameBoys are all in Lawn and Garden". So, how many other things were held back here?)
  14. Thank you for clarification of models. I know lots about computers and CD players, but the mp3 players are out of my league.
  15. Was at BB today (hate hate hate that store, but that's another story). Looked at the 1GB SanDisk and nowhere did it indicate that it would accept any additional memory. If this SanDisk does take a memory card, would someone please confirm? Will even go pay BB's current sale price of 80. [Of course, I was being "helped" by a useless guy who, when I asked about the Zen vs. the SanDisk said - well, it's good but it's just sold out. 2 minutes later, as we were comparing other options said - you should just get the Zen, and when I asked him to confirm that he had just said they were sold out, said - oh, yeah, right.]
  16. 12-year old daughter has had Sandisk for over a year (actually has 256MB version). Can put 8 or so CDs on it, which is all she says she needs for car travel, etc. Has dropped it a couple times with no ill effects. Gets bumped around in her school backpack a lot - seems to be like a Timex (takes a licking and keeps on ticking). Of course, now that I have glowingly endorsed it, it'll probably break.
  17. Probably won't get to PM anything. I live within 25 miles of 3 (yup 3) Wal-Marts - 2 Supers and 1 regular. None of them price match - ever. Have tried more than once and always get turned down. TRU refused last year and so did KMart - both even posted signs the week before. Would be really surprised if they changed their policies for this year. Good luck to the rest of you who CAN match.
  18. Would a model such as this be a good choice for a first-time sewer who is not an adult? My 9-year old niece wants a sewing machine for Christmas, was asking for the "Barbie" sewing machine, and my 2 sisters and I would rather get her a nicer model. Any advice would be appreciated.
