  1. This will be my 6th yr! I've been BF shopping since 2003.
  2. When Zelda Phantom Hourglass came out toys r us was giving away the strategy guide for free with the purchase of the game. I went to best buy and did a price match and bought the game and got the strategy guide for free. So heres my question. In this week's toys r us ad, if you buy super mario galaxy you get a $25 gift card. If I were to take the ad to best buy, and bought the game, do you think they to would give me a $25 gift card? I know its not really a price match, but if I go off and get it at toys r us, I will be getting a $25 gift card out of the deal and best buy isnt offering anything if you buy the game. So do you think I could get a $25 gift card for best buy?
  3. On the very back page theres a coupon for a $10 giftcard with any $75 purchase
  4. For anyone who is getting married or knows someone, please feel free to contact me through the boards here. I am a wedding planner and will be more then happy to give any advice or tips.
  5. I never said it (the 80gb) didnt play PS2 games. I said it didnt play PS2 games straight out of the box, like the 60GB can. We have A LOT of PS2 games, and they all work just fine. Yes 1 or 2 PS2 games may not work (dunno what games they are), but 99% of the games do. I dont know how much you know about the 80gb, but from what I've heard ON E3, read in many video game magazies and read online, the PS3 80GB is ONLY backwards compatible for PS2 games IF you download the software. This is taken from another website: What SONY is doing with the 80GB PS3, is that the new version will not include the Emotion Engine to play PS1 and PS2 games, instead, it will use an emulator to do so instead. In other words, software emulation is used in place of hardware support and as a result, backward compatibility for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games is reduced, but you still will be able to play PS1 and PS2 games, just not as many as with the 60GB version. With that said, anyone who wants a PS3, get the 60GB instead of the 80GB. You not only would be saving yourself some $$$ but also will have less headches in the long run.
  6. From my point of view I HATE X-Box, so that opition is out the window. As for PS3 and the Wii - I have both and love both, but I LOVE the Wii much more! Its so much fun to play!! Plus theres GREAT games out there already for the Wii - Zelda, Dewys Adventure, Harry Potter, etc. For the PS3, the only great games we own is Obilvion and Heavenly Sword. Theres more great games coming soon though for the PS3. Sony started off a little slow, but they are starting to catch up some. From what I know 2008 will be a good yr for PS3 and the Wii for the games. IF you get the PS3 - Do yourself a favor and get the 60GB. DO NOT GET THE 80GB version. You will only be kicking yourself later on down the road due to the fact its not backwards compatibale for PS2 games straight out of the box. The 60GB version is. Thats what I have the 60GB. Sure you may get 20GB more harddrive space, but thats why you get the external harddrive Sony has put out for the PS3 if you need more space. Believe it or not 60GB is A LOT of space to play with for a game system. For the Wii at $250 you get ALOT. Not only do you get to play all the good games thats out already, but you get to download old nintendo games from the Wii Store. Their catalog of old games is already pretty big, and it gets bigger and bigger every week. Oh yeah 1 more added bonus for the PS3 - BLU-RAY!! My hubby and I are already starting to convert our old movies into Blu-Ray. Plus any new movie thats comes out and as long as its on Blu-ray, we get the Blu-ray version. But of course you DO need a HD 1080P TV in order to watch the movies. So if you dont have a HD 1080P TV, get yourself one, or make it simple and get the Wii. One thing to also help make the picture clearer for the Wii is dont use the composite cables it comes with. Get the componet cables. It does make a difference.
  7. Last yr my hubby and I got to best buy at 6am. By the time we got in there the line for checkout was HUGE. We both waited in line for an hr to hr 1/2. So if you dont wanna wait that long, I suggest getting there pretty early. My sister and I are going BF shopping this yr, and being she has to work later that day well we might get there just as best buy opens or a little before. Im not sure if people around here camp out for BF or not. I just no by the time we got there, the parking lot was completely filled and there was a long line for checkout. I looked around to see what everyone was getting and majority of everyone had was 1 item. I was behind some people who had some big ticket items. And when I got towards the checkout someone up front was handing back to everyone to pass along a big ticket item voucher. So Im not sure what time my BB opened last yr. But I dont think it was 5am.
  8. The 1st stop last yr for me and my hubby was Best Buy. Now keep in mind and imagine this, best buy had just got done being built a couple months earlier, so this was the 1st BF for best buy. We got there at 6am and the parking lot was so filled we drove around for like 15 mins before we could even park. Once we got inside, they had no shopping carts or baskets. And the line was already wrapped from the registers all the way down to where the computers are, around that and back up to where the TV are at the beginning of the store. And keep in mind best buy had only been open for maybe 20 mins when we finally got in there. So im doing my shopping, convincing people what to buy for the Wii (hehe), and then I ended up with so much stuff in my hands I just had to grab something to put it in. So here I am with like 20 DVDs and games combo in my arms walking up to the entrance of the store trying to get through a huge line of people and suddenly I saw it....a beautiful shopping bag!! LOL!! I literally ran and picked it up. Oh forgot to mention that when we finally got in there they had these DVDs that we liked but didnt own, so I grabbed a whole bunch for my hubby for christmas presents, the best part they were origially like $9 each and got them for $3 each!! Gotta love the savings!! Anyways, im standing in line for like an hr (and no im not lying) and finally made it up to the registers. Spent $600 just on my hubby! Then leaving the store, they had the security checking everyones bags. While most people walked away with like a couple things, when I got my bags checked because I had so much, the girl had to literally go over to her counter, take everything out of the bags, checked the receipt, told me to walk through the door and she would hand me my bags once I went through the door. Which is VERY odd, nothing like that ever happened to me before. And theres been times we would walk out of best buy with a lot of stuff and thats never happened before. Its almost like they werent expecting someone to walk in and buy a lot of dvds and video games. Im thinking c'mon its BF! Of course people are gonna be buying a lot of stuff. Get used to it! It kinda hurt a little cuz it almost felt like I was being accused for stealing or something. All I know is I grabbed my bags, she told me to have a good day, normally I would say you 2, but I just looked at her and left. I wasnt gonna give her any satisfaction, for treating me like that. I should have walked back in and returned everything. And if they asked why, I would have been like well it felt like I was being accused of stealing and I dont wanna buy anything from a store thats gonna treat me like that. But anyways, 2005, was super walmart 1st BF, DH and I had to park where the omish park their horses, and by the time we got back into the car, his car smelled like horse manure lol.
  9. Wasnt black friday but the Wii launch day. DH and I were waiting in line in the freezing cold at walmart for 7 hrs. But it was probably one of the best nights I will NEVER forget. It literally was like a party. People talking, playing video games, watching movies on their laptops. And then someone left their spot in line, they were with another person, left and next thing we knew he came back with like 10 dominios pizzas. LOL. And he just started walking down the line offering everyone pizza. I never seen anything like that happen before. It was funny but a very sweet gesture. I guess the funny part was, DH went and got us Apple Bees and brought it back and then about 30 mins later we were offered pizza. LOL. We should have just waited and gotten free food!
  10. BF 2005 I was in Hallmark in my mall where the Ornaments are. And there were a huge crowd in that store right where the ornaments are. Anyways, I finally managed to get up to the ornaments and I bent down to pick one up. Just as I was about to stand up, someone got shoved into the ornaments and next thing I know a whole bunch of ornaments came toppling down and I ended up getting hit in the head with a lot of ornaments all in boxes. I ended up walking away with a huge migrane.
  11. 2005 - cant remember but I think it was about $500 split up between me and my hubby 2006 - I alone spent $600 just on my hubby at Best Buy on black friday - video games and dvds, and then around another $200 at other stores, and then he spent I think around $200 on me the whole day and then another $200 between the 2 of us for the rest of the family. So altogether around $1200. This year, hubby is on deployment so its just me and my sister thats going this yr. I will have around $800 for BF. Weither or not I spend it all, who knows. If not, well the rest is going towards one of my hubbys credit cards or I'll save it for christmas shopping for like in December.
  12. This week on some of the board games like parker brothers and a few other brands, are 30% off. I went off and got my hubby the new Monopoly electronic gaming game for Christmas. I also walked out of the store with a $5 gift card for spending more then $25. The game was $40 before the 30%. After 30% it came to $28. I live in DE, so theres also no tax which helps A LOT! Also, Zelda Phantom Hourglass came out today for the DS. At Toys R US, you can get the game ($34.99) and get the strategy guide for free. I however got mine at Best Buy and did the whole price match but thats for another post.
  13. Im starting to save up for BF now. I have some money in my paypal account for selling stuff on ebay. I sell recipe eBooks (recipes of food from restraunts) and sell each set for $3.00. I know it may not seem like much, but I've sold tons and tons of copies so it does add up quickly. I sell in each auction 3 copies and once those are gone, then I place up another and continue that cycle over and over. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll show you my auction. Plus I do Paid to read programs. Im hoping to cash out on some of them here soon before BF hits. Im gonna pick up on my surveys again and start getting money for them and also the same with mypoints. Even if I were to get just 1 gift card from my points, a $10 to walmart or kohls, probably kohls, its better then nothing. I also have about $15 reward zone bucks for best buy, could end up getting more since I do plan on buying a few video games here in October and some movies to. So I could end up getting altogether by BF $30 if not more. Plus since DH is on a deployment right now, well we are getting extra money from that, so by the time BF hits just in DH paychecks saving whatever I have left after bills and food, I'll have around $900. So altogether Im looking at about $1000 if not more by BF. And then in December alone I should have around another $400 or more.
  14. I wasnt really thinking about the doorbusters. I never get there that early anyway to grab any limited qty items. What I was mainly talking about was video games and DVDs. They arent doorbusters. Their always just on sale until like 11am or 12pm. I know here at my best buy, you have 30 days to get the item and take the receipt back to get a price adjustment if it goes on sale. And Im pretty sure last year they had the customer service lane open, cuz I saw a lot of people in it picking up their pickup in store items that they purchased off online.
  15. My hubby is getting deployed in a couple weeks so my annual BF shopping trip is out because I HATE BF shopping alone. So, I am gonna try something new this year and do my BF shopping for best buy online and then pick it up at the store. I have never shopped online for BF before or even did the whole pick up store for best buy instead of mailing it to me. So heres my question. Will best buy have the same exact sales online then in the store? And if I were to place my order at 6am when the sale starts and picked it up say around 12 or 1 in the afternnon on BF, would I get the sale price or would I have to pay regular price? Im gonna assume I would get the sale price since I think you pay for it online and then just pick it up at the store. Any info anyone can give me would be awesome!
