  1. That's what's bad around my area. Some, if not most, did that from what I heard. The idea I heard thrown around is that they were putting them on layaway until Black Friday. If they got a better deal they were going to cancel the layaway. Meanwhile people that COULD have bought it today didn't get a chance. It will make all stores that let layaway happen not let people do it next year I bet. I went today just to see what I could find, or find out.
  2. I'm a guy and I like going with my wife. There's stuff I want to get every year. Usually we start at Best Buy since we're both "tech people". From there it's whichever store has something we want.

I check the deal sites all year long, but I start regularly checking the Thanksgiving sales at the first of October each year. That's been about when they start showing up. This is my first year to post on the forum though.

  3. I won't be disappointed unless I see Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, and some of the other stores having nothing I want. I haven't ever seen anything at K-Mart that's made it worth my time to go over for in the years I've been going. I don't even know if I have and Ace store in town since I've never attempted to go to one.
  4. I went the first time the year I was married. My wife had always wanted to go, but her mom wouldn't go with her. She's in a wheelchair so she couldn't just go on her own. I took her to see what it was like and found lots of cool deals. Since then we've made it a tradition to go every year. I just don't think I want to go in the rain again.
  5. What they have done here is setup 1 aisle with the stuff from the ad and rope it off. When the time comes they just pull back the ropes and let people go.

What this has caused when they first started is that people would go under the ropes and grab what they want then wait for the sale to start before checking out. Each year it gets modified a little different to try and stop people from doing the different things they do. But each year people figure out new ways trying to beat the system and get the stuff before anyone else.

  6. Here in Louisiana it's rained 1 year so bad that it was flooding. I didn't want to go but my wife did. I hated every second of it. There wasn't even anything to go out for. Wouldn't you know it, no sooner than the sales were over the rain stopped. That's was the worst time I had, plus I got sick after all of it and didn't get well until after Christmas. I won't go out again in rain like that.

It's only been threats of rain, but nothing happening since then. Last year it was forecast for rain but the clouds broke when the sun came up. I got a 28" HD TV for $350. That was worth the effort of going out.

  7. Yeah like others said, I doubt there will be any deals on a 360. What will happen is that Microsoft will sell a lot of systems that would have been Nintendo and Playstation 3 sales. While Nintendo and Sony have few and far between shipments, many will get tired of searching and just get a 360.
  8. There's been several instances here in my area. Last year the big one was at Toys R Us. A woman tried to use a basket and plow her way through the line when the doors opened. From my understanding she had just got there and tried to bust through to the front. Some other woman jumped her. It was on the news.

About 2 years ago I heard about someone punching a security guard because he was told the item he was looking for was sold out. From what I gather of the story, it was the only thing the guy wanted and he was within the first few to get in the door. It was at K-Mart and I heard they never actually got the item in store.

I forget what year this was, but 2 extremely large women tripped and fell as the doors open. They got stuck in the door with the doors closing on them. I didn't see it, but this was another one that made it on the news.

There's been others but those are the main ones that stand out in my mind. The rest were more minor things. Plus there's other things I'm sure I never heard about even.

  9. Yeah I remember the cini-minis at Toys R Us. Several stores around my area used to give out lots of stuff. I'd end up hitting several stores with my wife and we'd get a free breakfast by 10:00am with all the coupons, plus have extra stuff from the freebies. Now there's a few store that still give coupons, but it's usually a certain amount off of buying coffee of something like that. Last year Chick-Fil-A was going up and down the line at Best Buy selling sausage egg and chees sandwiches and coffee.
  10. t's a safe bet to assume that there will be deals on the USB keychain drives all over the place. It has been the past couple of years and through this year there ahs been lots of deals already. I'm thinking somebody will have a 1gig for $9.99 or less without the need to send off for a rebate.
