We stay for over 48 hours. So we can bring back 400$ per person with duty free. After that you get hit with tax on everything above and duty(depending on the product), if they decide to pull you over. We have only had to pay anything additional once and even then it wasn't enough to negate the great savings.

If you're looking to get a deal on ipods or any apple products the only way to really save a significant amount is through the apple store online in the refurb section. I've bought many times through there. You save a ton.

ipod touch starts at 139.00 right now through there.

Time to start this thread again this year. The Canadian dollar is approaching pairity again, making deals that much better for us. Who's going down? Where ya going? What do you plan on buying?
My hotel is all booked. Day off work. Now just waiting on the ads. We're heading to the Albany NY area.

Now what? :(
in 2008
Most of the sites have their ad's online now with the option to print out a copy. I know it's not "fun" as the inserts, but it is better than nothing. -
So who's going down? I'm off after work tomorrow. Can't wait.
-
Is it usually a display? or do you have to go to customer service or something?
-
Just curious... They're never my first stop... do the globes disappear in the first few minutes?
-
I am thinking the same thing. It looks like I may be moving my tent city else where or hand out with Brad here on the board since he does not do BF.
I wasn't impressed with BB last year either... so not really a surprise.
-
Nice ad from RS. Very surprised.
-
Ya i don't think the full scan is up... i'm still getting the old one as well.
-
Getting closer. Ads are coming. Life is good.
-
Always one of my favorite spots...
-
Even more so than tv's. Take a look at receivers and speakers. That difference is insane!
-
Even with the sagging dollar there are still plenty of deals to be had. Just have to pay a bit more attention.

Thanks - are bestbuys in smaller towns the way to go?
Ya, Still crazy(best buy is always one of the busiest bf stops)...
But i find it's worth driving a couple hours further south from the border and find a smaller city that still has everything you're looking for... better deals and less of us invaders:D...
-
Will be going to Buffalo - any one know how the lineups are there (for best buy)?
Crazy... at least thats from my experience... it's why i don't do that area anymore... inflated numbers... all the locals plus all us invading canucks... if you plan on Best Buy... plan for Thursday.
-
Anymore canucks making the trip? Where from and to?

"Real trees"

and, surprisingly, better for the environment than fake trees
Most people sadly think the other is true. But farmed trees are much more environmentally sound.

"Real trees"

Does anyone still prefer real trees? Personally, for me part of the fun is going out in the cold and hunting down the perfect tree. Getting it home... realizing it's not as perfect as you thought... trying to figure out the best way to "face" it... all the while sipping on some hot chocolate and enjoying the fresh cut scent of pine...
I don't think i could ever pull a piece of plastic and metal out of my basement and have the same holiday feeling.

Home Depot
in 2008
Year after year it tends to be one of my favorite stops. Like mentioned above the staff are always helpful and it's usually a smooth experience. -
Other than a few cases it's still cheaper to buy books online rather than through stores even on BF. In my experience at least.

It's like an added bonus... not just waiting for the ads but watching the dollar get bigger...
