  1. phew thank god i never buy alcohol there lol! the only thing along those lines i ever pick up are marlboro's for dh and so far i have never had a problem bringing those back. do you know the numbers as far as duty goes? i am going to *try* and not spend more then $300(US) but i doubt i will even do that cause the ads arent that great. i looked on the canadian border agency's (or whatever it;s called) website and i found it very confusing the way they explain what you have to pay, if you know can you explain it to me?
  2. thanks for the response:D since i live so close to border i head over there a lot to shop (sometimes almost weekly lol) so i don't buy a huge amount at a time to save myself from paying duty. last time we were there i spent about $300 CAN (not including the food or gas i bought over there but they cant trace it so i dont say anything!) and it was dh, ds and i and i didnt have to pay any duty. i never have yet actually. im just worried on black friday they will be targeting everyone coming back across the border and i'll end up paying. i don't mind paying a little but as i said i've never had to pay it before so i don't know how much $$$ it could be. i'm going over with a girlfriend so i guess i will only get away with my $50 this time:no: oh and about the 24 hr thing i have never heard that! we have never been over for even close to 24 hrs, 10 hrs MAYBE and we've never had a problem bringing back our $50 each.
  3. i'm in Windsor,Ontario about 10 mins away from tunnel to Detroit. this is my 1st bf but from what i have seen so far, there is not much to get excited for this yr boxing day used to be good too but the last few yrs, it;s not so great...seems according to a lot of posts on here bf is going that way too. what parts of the US are my fellow Canadians heading too? do you find with the exchange rate and the duty that its worth the time?
  4. add me to the list of the disapointed. i'm in canada and this was going to be the 1st time i head over the border for black friday. if i didnt live 10 minutes from the border i wouldnt even bother! i have to say the best ad i've seen so far is Meijer, Target has 1 or 2 things but nothing worth me getting out of bed at 1 am!
  5. i LOVE steve & barry's! we live in Canada and just discovered it a few months ago! i will be getting a lot of my shopping done there, thats for sure!
  6. wow i am totally disapointed with the ads so far! oh well at least i won;t have to worry about going broke now LOL!
  7. a winning lottery ticket to buy EVERYTHING my family and friends want for xmas, and of course a few things for myself!

  11. Hi! i'm Amy from Windsor, Ontario! this will be my first bf and i'm very excited!
  12. thanks that is exactly what i wanted to know! i just wasn't sure if it was just advertised ones on sale or other ones too! as long as i am pretty sure i can get a better deal that day i will definately hold out! i do the boxing day sales here every year, but i imagine they are nothing compared to bf! i am yet to see a fight break out over a boxing day sale lol!
  13. thanks for replying :) i figured they would be cheaper on bf i am just scared i won't be able to get my hands on one lol! my neighbour is a bf pro and i was planning to go with her and provided we aren't delayed getting across the border we should be there by about 2 am....is this early enough??
  14. hi everyone! just found this great site and i am very excited! i am in Canada but earlier this yr moved to a border city so for the first time in my life, i will be going to the US for black friday this yr! since we are so close i go over the border fairly regularly to shop now, and i have been eyeing a dvd recorder, along with a few other electronics that dh has on his xmas list. now a few of these items have been on sale recently, would it be silly of me to buy them now? should i wait for bf instead? i am just worried if i wait for bf when they may be even cheaper, i may not get what i want. so i ask you this....do MOST things go on sale for bf or just certain things that are in a flyer? i am just nervous if i don't buy them now and leave it till bf i won't be able to get these gifts because they will be sold out if they go on sale! thanks in advance!
