  1. I have a 13 and 15 year old. I struggle for ideas too. They have asked for clothes this year (a first). They want Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour. They also are into wearing Nike elite socks to school. They want all different colors. What about winter things? (if you live where it snows) Sleds, snowball makers, snowboards, or gift card to local ski lodge? I have been getting them the gift sets with men's cologne or body wash. Anything to encourage good hygeine. :) We also started them on a tool collection. We started with a tool box and every year we add a new tool like, a hammer, screwdriver set, wrenches, etc. They have used some of them already. We buy them craftsman so they will hold up for years. This way, by the time they graduate from college, they will have their own set of good tools. We have also got them special cooking sets like a waffle maker w/mix, a dounut maker w/mix, and such. They love taking out their machines and making snacks or breakfast for them and their friends. Add a cookbook too! I've tried anything to get them interested in someting other than video games. Good luck! Hope this helps.
  2. Help! I'm looking for ideas besides gift cards (done that for the past three years). She is going off to college next year and may be going far away. I got her brother a microwave when he was her age, but if she goes to school in Hawaii like she talked about, she can't take that on a plane. Any ideas of unique ideas that she can use at college?

    Thanks

  3. Wow, thanks for all the responses! I'd forgotten about the ped egg and the chia pet. I know exactly who I'm buying that for! I hope I get the big donut pan or the perfect brownie pan! I'll have to check out walgreens ad. It's great to hear about those that don't work well. If I have to spend money on these things, I at least want them to be worth it. Keep the ideas coming if you have them!
  4. My BIL throught it would be fun this year for the siblings on my DH's side to exchange As seen on TV gifts to each other. We have a $20 spending limit. Can anyone help with some ideas of products that you own or have given that are worth the money? They just let us know this about two weeks ago and I had already figured out what to buy them. Now, I'm scrabbling for ideas. I told them next year they better tell me in July because I start planning back then. Any help would be appreciated! I have six adults to buy for (3 women & 3 men). Thanks!
  5. I know that my kids when they were younger loved getting fastfood gift cards such as McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Buger King.. They were so excited to be able to go up and pay for their own meals with their cards. Also Pizza Hut gift cards were nice. You could find out what their favorite places are. I liked it because there were times I didn't have the money to take them out and this was a special treat for them. Just an idea!
  6. Well, at our house we put out whatever cookies we have made, carrots for the reindeer, and a cold beer. The beer came from my sister who started leaving it at her house and my kids insisted that they needed to leave one at our house. Also, Santa never gets to eat the cookies at our house because the dumb dog eats them before Santa gets a chance. We are going on four years straight no matter where we put them. She manages to leave part of the carrots with teeth marks at least! The kids think that the reindeer left them, but they do not know the dog ate the cookies. My Dh and I just laugh each year as the dog out smarts us all. Luckily, she hasn't gotten the beer yet!:D
