I guess My definition of "shortly after Midnight EST" is different. The press release does state EST. though Brads post states PST.

Am I reading this correctly? The $199 x-box bundle will be available only online? it does say only at walmart.com. I guess I will have to stay home and hope to order online.
Oh I figured it out there are two bundles in the add, one with kennect, the other without. I really don't like this add at all.

Sleet and Freezing rain overnight. Not sure I will bother heading out this year, nothing I need that badly. I can take the cold, but sleet and freezing rain take the fun out of it.

I had decided that Staples would be my only stop, Got the monitor, seagate external drive,the ups and a chair for my mom. I forgot to get the blank media, the glossy paper and the batteries, but will go back in a couple of hours. I picked up the 3 blu-ray disks i wanted via amazon. The staples staff was great, they had people running around getting items for customers, I always have good luck at staples!

depending on where you are located, try crossing the border into ME, RI, VT, CT (whichever is closer) if the price is worth it. but, as you learned, call.

Oh on a side note, this morning I picked up two of teh $229 Gateway netbooks at bestbuy; now my niece and nephew will be happy, I could have perhaps got a better buy on BF, but now i can get sleep instead.

that's a huge difference in storage space. I probably would never buy anything with 16GB of storage. The media cards I used in my camera 8GB, couldn't imagine a computer with only 16GB.
The smaller drives solid state drives. Solid state drives are faster, more stable and consume less power. I use my hp mini on the road and often have to run on battery, I chose a 16 GB solid state drive; It is really easy to use my external passport drive when I need more storage. It really all depends on what you need your netbook to be able to do.

The Staples ad excites me, the portable HD, wireless printer, some of the blank media. This is a very solid ad for staples. I am also lucky to have two staples in my area, I have never had an issue getting an item on BF since the second store opened.

BF of 2005, I was able to get the HP Laptop from Walmart; Luckily for me the Laptops were not actually in their electronis area, they had them next to the jewelery counter. I got a ton of use from that Laptop; and after I used it for 2 years plus, I upgraded the ram and hard drive and gave it to my niece for her to use, she still uses it today. I think the reason this my favortie item is because it was the first item I purchased on a Black Friday (prior I thought all of you were nuts), and now I go shopping every Black Friday!!
I can't wait for this year, just bought my first house this past summer and there are still many items I would like to have.

The real issue for CC has been their locations, they seemed to over expand into less then desirable spots. BB seems to be more careful in their expansions.

This is the first year that I have a bestbuy in the area; based on the current ad there is nothing worth fighting the crowd for. If I am going to battle the Elements (live in Maine), and the crowd I want to save some decent money. I am thinking it will be a massive gift card X-mas.

Yes my local best buy would not accept it for anything, The cashier could not even seem to find any item that would scan for the discount. I asked to see a manager to get an explanation as to why they would provide a rewardzone member a coupon that could not be used. When I asked for a list of toys that the coupon could be used for I was told they couldnt provide that and was asked to leave.

I think the Daxter pack also comes with a 1 Gig Mem stick, something that is lacking form the Starwars combo.

My palm TX is a great. I have games, and it will play AVIs. I can also get the news if they have a wi-fi spot.

I was getting really ramped up for this years BF, a new BB and Staples opening in my area. But after seeing the ads, I think my bed seems like the best deal for me. I had wanted a new laptop, but am not enticed by the offerings shown so far. Oh well maybe I will go out and sell doughnuts to the masses in line instead and then buy a better laptop.

Don't worry, for those who want to see the ad early, you'll be able to. If it's not posted on GD, there will be literally hundreds of other places to see it, and it will be up to WM to find each and every little web site, forum, blog, etc... and send their lawyers after 'em.
Believe me, people who up until now had no idea what Black Friday even was will now be posting the ad around just because WM says not to. This is going to backfire for them so badly, and we'll all be here to laugh at them when it does
Their ad sucked last year for me, But they really are being arrogent about this entire thing.

I wonder if they are just doing this to create BUZZ, I mean really you print an ad so epople will see the ad, sites like this are seen by 1000s.

For me I am doing recon and intel on this site and sometime on Wednesday night I am in front of BB with my tent camping out.
I will also spend Wednesday doing some recon, I like to try and se the packaging on some items. When I wake up depends on the items I want, really early 2 years ago for the Walmart laptop, not so early last year.

the SD card was available again as of 1045 est for 2.99 after rebate
Thanks just went back and got one, may pick up another tommroow when i go in to get the DVDs
