Ipods won't be "on sale" Black Friday but stores will probably offer incentives like gift card, cases, chargers etc. I have bought Ipod Touchs for the last 2 year (won't have to get this year) and received gift cards back with my purchases. 2 years ago I bought an 8gb got a $50 gift card back from BB and last year bought the 32gb and got back a $40 gift card from BB. In regards to GB I would get the most you can afford. DS15 has the 32gb (previously had a 16gb) and its perfect for him. DD13 has the 8gb and we may upgrade hers next year since it looks like she is out. Not getting it this year since she wants her room redone for Xmas.

OF course its not available within a 100 miles of me. I hate living in the boondocks. Nothing is around here and you have to drive miles to get to anything!!! -
Keep an eye on Ebay. That is where I get my DS Xbox Live cards. They always put them on sale. I usually get them for about $35. Sign up for their Deals of the Day and you will get emails everyday. They had it on sale about 2 weeks ago again. I also get the Live points there also. I have never paid full price for it.

On BF the Apple store does some kind of deal. Last year they had the Ipads $50 off on BF only. BB will sometimes give giftcards, or some incentive back with the sale of Ipads. Apple does not allow their products to go on sale, so these are the best I have seen. I do know that there are some of the original Ipads on sale right now. I saw the 64gb with wifi/3g for $499 on a site yesterday. There are also some refurbished on sale. I am looking for one also for my DS

What will your kids give their teacher(s) this year?
racerfan replied to angelbabymommy's topic in 2011
Now that mine are in Middle and High School they no longer take in gifts. Religion is ending this week since DD13 is making Confirmation on Saturday so we have no teachers to get gifts for. This is the first time since they started school. -
Yes thats what I remember last year I think it was a gift card back. I do know the Apple does offer a "sale price" pn BF because my DS friend got one for I think $50 off then. It was done online. I am in no rush just looking right now, still not sure if it will work for him. I dont want just another platform for him to play games. This is for schoolwork since his workload is only going to get heavier during the rest of the year and the next 2 years to finish HS. He already has a really good desktop that runs his CAD program for his engineering class, and ipod. As an example yesterday he came home and had an essay due this morning. He had several things to do after school and we were running from one to the other. While he was in his down time (driving waiting his turn etc) he was writing the essay out by hand, then when he got home he had to type it up. If he had something portable it would have saved him some time and he would not have gone to bed last night at midnight to get up and be at school for 6am. I am checking out all suggestions Thanks everyone

I have just started looking at the Ipad2 as a possible gift for DS for Bday/Xmas from his Grandpa. I want to make sure it can do what we are hoping it can do. No one has been able to tell me if a word processing program can be put on it. I was hoping to get one at Walmart so I could put it on layaway and it wont be in the house for snoopy people to find it Someone mentioned another table above and plan on checking it out tomorrow when I stop in at Best Buy. I know last year the Ipad was $50 off on BF thru the Apple Store. BB also had a deal I think something back with purchase.

I wish I could get a new phone We are planning on changing carriers when our contract is up but that won't be until next December 2012. I have had it with At&T even though we get a discount for DH job, we are moving.
-
We have been tying our real tree every year since out kids were little. We have permanent eyelets on the molding above our windows, DH runs fishing line from around the tree to the eyelets. We have always had dogs and got a cat back in 2006. Cat and dogs all like to drink the water so that is where we concentrate on. We have to make sure the tree skirt always is covering the water. The cat likes to bat at ornaments so we put unbreakable ones in one section and that is where she goes "to bat" This year we have 2 new puppies who are little devils and love to get into everything. I think this year we will be putting up a wrap around gate in front of the tree at the beginning to see how they are with the tree. If ok will take it down if not it stays up. I am more worried on what they will do when they see the firewood we bring in for our wood stove. Our woodstove is in our fireplace but I can see them trying "to help us" load the stove. Will have to see. lol

I am thinking about getting a tablet for my DS who is turning 16 on the 21st of December. I am looking for something that he would be able to take with him to varsity meets, long trips on the school bus, long car rides etc so he can keep on top of school work. This year he is taking 2 very weighted classes. Advanced Placement World History and Engineering 2. During the Summer he had a ton of homework for the AP course. He had several chapters he had to outline, vocab words, essays he had to write etc. He was stuck only able to work on it when he was home not when he was out or at work on his breaks. My question is would the Ipad or is there something similar be something that he can use. I am looking that he can do the written stuff on, then email himself to his regular desktop computer. I know some tablets are better than others, we have a cheapo one that we got for DD13 to read on and play some apps. Which tablets are strong enough to have some kind of word processor on it that he can do school work on then transfer to his regular computer either by email or flash drive. I have been thinking of something really special to get him, since it is his 16th Birthday and he has decided to take such hard classes that we don't want him to fall behind once swim season starts. He has some meets that are as far away as 3 hours, I figure he could do work on the bus there and back (or in the car if I go to the meet and bring him home). He also has swim meets that are all day events, that he can do work also. The more into school we go the more work he is getting. Thanks for any and all help

Ok I have a dumb question. What do you use the bluetooth on the computer for? I have a bluetooth for my phone for phone calls (would love to get the one that reads texts to you while you are driving and I think I heard you can answer texts that way too, just found out about that yesterday) This one listed said it can make any computer bluetooth enabled. HOw does that work and when would you use it. Just wondering if I should get it as a stocking stuffer for DS for his computer.

All the kindles come wi-fi ready. Some come with 3g which means you have access to Amazon anywhere not just where there is wi fi.

How long is the line outside BB at the Rockaway Mall? I may have to go there if I cant get online or HHgregg does not have it
-
Have never been to the Rockaway Mall on BF how is it there? I am about 45 minutes from there in Milford PA.
-
If Walmart has some good deals I may start out in Milford PA, there then head to probably Middletown, NY or Scranton, PA if HHgregg has a really good BF ad. It would be my 1st time in Scranton, PA since I always head to Middletown which is closer. HHgregg opened a store in Scranton there I think since last BF so have to check them out.

len_mullen just in case your son does not know you can now borrow books on the Kindle from libraries across the US. I originally got the Nook for myself since I borrow books dont really it. That being said I plan on getting a Kindle for my Daughter and one for myself sine now you can borrow books on the Kindle also. I have over 400 books I got for free on the Nook and I also have on my Amazon account about 150 free books for the Kindle. I have been waiting for the Kindle to starting the borrowing service before I got one. :)

I do chapsticks, lipgloss, McDonalds, Wendy's Subway gift cards, pens, mini flashlights, batteries, itunes gift cards. When they were younger hotwheels and matchbox cars, my little pony etc.
-
We have those flashlights noehlp and they are great. DS15 keeps a couple in his bookbag for when he is walking home from the bus and its getting dark. We also have them attached to our dogs leashes for nighttime walking

My DS has the 32gb. There is no longer a 16gb in the current generation. He originally had a 16gb 2nd generation and by the time it broke he was full. If you can swing it I would get the 32gb for her. Apps can take up a lot of space. My DD13 has had the 8gb for 2 years and hers is almost full She may be getting the 32gb this Xmas if I can find a good deal. Both my kids get music from all different places. Amazon, CDs it all uploads into Itunes to be put on the Ipod. Both my kids LOVE theirs and DS uses his more than he uses his computer. He sends and received email etc. Only uses his computer for school work.
