    $179 Laptop

Processor problem. It's rated only 1.00 GHZ processor speed with 1MB L2 cache, and its performance speed is equivalent to old 2001 Pentium III 1.20 GHZ we had before.
  2. I haven't been to Best Buy on BF since 2007 that I used to go yearly, because you now need to camp at least a week to get these Doorbusters.
  3. A new record... Best Buy LINE already forming at this El Cajon, CA store, and it's 8 more days til Black Friday. http://www.wlfi.com/dpps/news/strange/shoppers-already-lined-up-for-black-friday-nd12-jgr_4977988
  4. 23 people in line right now at Lakewood, CA Best Buy store since Monday afternoon.
  5. Before you camp out for the $199.99 Sharp 42" LCD TV, give this SKU #: 3142087 to the customer service desk prior to store-closing on Wednesday or contact by phone, and they will be happy to tell you how many they have in stock. Then you can decide if it's worth waiting in line or not, or if it's sold-out after counting how many people are in line. Hopefully, this thread will eliminate all speculations or fears with how many boxes each Best Buy store will receive on Black Friday. I have heard some stores receiving 50 boxes or tickets. My local Best Buy store is getting 72 boxes, which is much better than I thought. So, I don't need to camp out too ultra-early after all. :)
  6. Before you camp out for the $79.99 Dynex 24" LCD TV, give this SKU #: 2970158 to the customer service desk prior to store-closing on Wednesday or contact by phone, and they will be happy to tell you how many they have in stock. Then you can decide if it's worth waiting in line or not, or if it's sold-out after counting how many people are in line. Hopefully, this thread will eliminate all speculations or fears with how many boxes each Best Buy store will receive. I have heard some stores receiving 80 boxes or tickets. My local Best Buy store is getting 107 boxes, which is much better than I thought. So, I don't need to camp out too ultra-early after all.:)
  7. That's correct. Nobody cares for Sony anymore. Samsung is now the "hottest" brand today.
  8. This was at the Simi Valley, CA Best Buy location during 2007 Black Friday. There were three high school guys in line that arrived first on Wednesday morning, played a lot of video games, and could not stop saying to people, "we're going to sell the tickets at the end." They had no plans to purchase anything. To get electricity to play video games, the guy moved his 2005 Scion Tc car to the front of the entrance door, and left the car running idle on for 36 hours non-stop. At about 3:00 AM before store opened at 5:00 AM, people in line at the back shouted to the employees that they were going to re-sell the tickets (doorbuster items). The employees asked all the people, "should they leave?," and everybody shouted "Yes, yes, yes." Then, they were told to leave and got out of the line, without any tickets given. As soon as the store opened, the three guys were crying hard down to the ground like babies watching them entered the store. The guy ran 36 hours non-stop in his 2005 Scion Tc for nothing, and damaged his car. He could not go home, and his parents had to call for a tow truck. Mommy was hearing her son crying. They should have never said, "we're going to sell the tickets" in the first place. Never EVER tell people you're going to sell the tickets. And NEVER ever run your car for 36 hours idle non-stop. At least, they now learn their lesson.
  9. The eMachines is a much better unit. It has a 2.3 GHZ processor vs. a 1.0 GHZ processor in Compaq, and eMachines has a HDMI output, while the Compaq does not.
  10. Amazon.com has a Haier L32D1120 32" LCD going for $199.99 free shipping right now. Use your MasterCard today to save additional $10 right now, code WLG2FB7X, and also receive back additional $10 for future purchase, which brings the price down to $179.99 total with free shipping. See, I told you the Emerson 32" for $188 plus tax from Walmart is a little overpriced.
  11. Based on price per dollar ratio vs. last year ads, this year deal is MUCH WORSE than last year. 32" LCD is now already going for $199 at some stores, and Walmart is only $10 less at $188. It should have been priced at $149 in the first place. Last year was $199 when most 32" LCD started at $249. Amazon.com has a Haier 32" LCD right now for $199.99 with free shipping, and it is still in-stock. The $198 Compaq laptop has a slower processor with only 1.0 GHz processor speed (10 year old technology) without any HDMI output that regularly sells for $229 right now, vs. a $198 Emachines last year with a 1.8 GHz processor and with HDMI output, so it is MORE expensive this year. The $388 HP 17" laptop is overpriced when some retailers I saw sell a 17" laptop for $299. The best deal here is the Emerson 40" LCD TV for $248. So far, the lowest-priced 40" I saw is $299. Overall, I am NOT impressed.
  12. If you bought the $499 HP Blu-Ray laptop, what is the model number on the box outside? Took one home, and the specs are completely different from the one on the website. I have model dv7-4157cl, not g72-b27cl. I have AMD Phenom II dual-core instead Intel Pentium dual-core and 640 GB hard drive instead 500 GB hard drive. Perhaps the store accidentally gave me the wrong model with better specs? It retails for $798 at walmart.com ($301 saving)
  13. There are 40 people lining up at Lakewood, CA Best Buy right now. Stay away.
  14. Have anybody seen lines at Wal-Mart yet for the $198 eMachines laptop? I don't know if I should line up outside or inside tonight?
  15. To wait in line. What's the earliest time we are allowed to form a line for a specific item?
  16. It's 100% made by Funai. Funai still makes plasma TVs but not for the USA market.
  17. How can everyone say that the $299 Compaq desktop deal is a great deal? IT"S NOT. This is the same weekly price Best Buy put every week in their ads. And it's not even dual core Athlon, but solo. Do your homework.
  18. I've been to two different Best Buy stores tonight and all the managers told me the same thing, "there will be no secret sale." After 7:00 PM, I noticed many employees stopped stocking and went home. Also, I called the Best Buy corporate three times, and they all told me the same thing, "no secret sale." I got tired, packed up, and went home. Whatever you see on the ad is what you get. Looks like we can all stay home for Thanksgiving after Best Buy officially stopped offering their famous eMachines Celeron desktop and Toshiba Celeron laptop special for the first time ever after 5 glorified consecutive years.
  19. The BF doorbuster laptop as part of their secret sale not listed in the ad will be a Toshiba, according to the Best Buy manager. He would not give me the model number, though.

    Laptops

It won't be $229 this time due to rising cost of materials. Most likely, it will be $249 with printer.
  21. I think he was referring to the 50" Hitachi rear-projection TV for $599.99.
  22. In your opinion, what year was the best Black Friday ever? To me, I think the Black Friday 2005 was the best in history. Wal-Mart had a $388 laptop and Best Buy had a desktop PC for $149.99, but I've heard reports from buyers able to purchase the desktop only for $20 after returning the CRT monitor. Considering the average price for the blitz items in 2005 was a lot higher than 2006 and 2007. 2006 was okay, except Wal-Mart didn't have a laptop and Best Buy's desktop raised to $189.99. 2007 may be the worst ever. There is no more $50 20" TV.
  23. It's because the ATSC digital tuner part is very expensive.
  24. This doesn't apply to Los Angeles, California. People started to line up at 9:01 PM after the store closed on Wednesday night.
  25. Like every year, Funai is going to supply most of the TVs and DVD recorders to Wal-Mart for this upcoming Black Friday this year. I represent Funai products, and this is what Funai made from the factories already. They are now at the Wal-Mart distribution center at Arkansas. Wal-Mart will sell a 1080i 32" LCD TV for around $400 under the SV2000 or Symphonic brand. There will be a 1080P 37" LCD TV (pricing unknown). There will also be a ATSC digital-tuner 20" CRT tube TV for around $50 under the SV2000 brand. Finally, there will be ATSC digital-tuner DVD recorder and DVD recorder/VCR combo under the SV2000 or Symphonic brand between $50 and $100. Funai is well-aware with the FCC-mandated digital TV transition that everyone in the USA must need one ASAP, so Funai has decided to produce the $50 ATSC 20" CRT TV the most than any other products. Each store should get at least 200-300. I do not have the model numbers in my hand. But at least it gives all the buyers knowing what will Wal-Mart have on Black Friday. Cheers.
