  1. It came in the guitar box, not a Best Buy Box, has the full colored picture of the guitar on the box, and the driver just left it in my garage.

Doesn't Best Buy know that people buy Christmas presents on Black Friday? If it would have come 2 hours later, or if I didn't notice it in my garage as I was leaving my son would have seen the box and seen his Christmas present!

I also ordered something for my husband, it is smaller, but I'm worried that it won't be in a Best Buy box either...

  2. I'm not talking about people that don't have any other choice, or kids over 12. Although I was surprised that there was so many teenagers at the mall at 3 am, what about all the 4,5 & 6 year olds. The parents of every single child that we saw did have a choice, every single one of them there was more than one adult. Why couldn't one of the adults stay home with the children? We saw 3 women with a very tiny baby, why couldn't / didn't one of them stay at home with the baby and they other 2 shop for that person?

    WWYD?

Had a similar issue at TRU on BF last year, I was the second person in line in the electronics department when they opened and they told me they were sold out of something, and the person in front of me didn't buy any ??? I kept asking how that was possible over and over and I called the store manager on my phone and asked him to come to the electronics department because he wasn't responding to his employees calling him on the walkie and said that it was holding up the entire line, they had me grab items off the shelves to complete the bundle and sold it to me at the ad price. I never raised my voice, but I refused to leave and called out the manager and they gave the advertised bundle items & price to me and my neighbor. I think once you leave the store they won't make good & you have to be pushy without being rude.
  3. I was surprised at the number of kids I saw out BF shopping with their parents all night. I saw a few at the store we went to at midnight, but then we went to the mall & at 3:00 am we went to the food court to wait for the 4:00 stores to open and there were kids all over the place. I'm talking about little, under 8 year old kids at 3-4 am. My kids begged me to take them with, they are almost 11 & 12, and I didn't think they could handle staying up all night, so we were shocked to see 5 & 6 year old kids out with their parents, awake at 3:30 in the morning.

Throughout the night I saw a couple of my kids friends out with their parents so it made me think about taking my kids with next year, but then I heard all the stories about the crazy people & someone pepper spraying people and now I'm back to thinking that I won't take them out with me next year. I go out after Thanksgiving dinner & don't come home until 8 in the morning and I don't want to have to run home to drop off my kids in the middle of the night.

Was it like that all over the place, were there a lot more kids out with their parents than before? I didn't notice women by themselves with their kids, it was groups of people with kids (we saw 3 women and a very young baby or 4 adults with 2 little kids around 4-5 years old) and we thought why didn't one of the adults stay home with the children? And how were those kids up at that time of the night?

  4. Did anyone try to use the Younlers $10 coupon today??? Here is my experience:

Went to my local Younkers this morning armed with the $10 coupon from the ad in yesterday's paper. WHAT A CROCK OF SH**!! (pardon my language)

I got in the line 3 times, thinking I had it figured out and each time was told the coupon would not work on what I wanted to purchase! First, I had 4 pair of socks....:"Sorry, those are Doorbusters"

Then, 5 pieces of $2.00 fudge...."Sorry, an individual item has to be at least $10" Then, a clearance item...."Sorry, that is a YELLOW DOT" clearance. AAGGHH! After tromping around the store for another 30 minutes, I see that 90% of the store has green "Doorbuster" signs on it. The ONLY items I saw that had the tiny little "you may use your $10 coupon on this" signs was a $189 bedding set and a $79 purse!

I was not the ONLY one frustrated with the complicated exclusions. There were people all over the store commenting on it. Some laughed...it was a joke. Some, like me, were mad and felt tricked. I ended up leaving and left the coupon laying on the steps outside the door of the store. Let some other sucker try and figure out how to use the worthless coupon.

In the past, Younkers was always one of my early stops on Black Friday, armed with the $10 coupon and I have NEVER had such trouble using it before! Well, those days are done for me and many others. I will NEVER waste any time or effort on Younkers BF coupon again. I suppose there are many executives at Younkers HQ chuckling over this one. Gee.....what else can we add to the fine print to make sure that no one gets to use this coupon???? Very funny. Well, your plan may of backfired. I am not the only one who left a Younkers with a bad feeling today. I have even seen mention of your stupid coupon on Black Friday message boards and blogs today. Younkers is the joke of Black Friday stories this year!

That's funny because I had the same issues and didn't even end up getting anything with mine & I had 3 of them I didn't bother using for the exact same reasons!
  5. I won't have to buy toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss pics, men's or women's deodorant, razors, naproxen (generic alleve) or hair bands for a VERY long time! I had to do one last trip tonight before they closed :) I'm lucky to have 3 Walgreens within 10 minutes of my house!!
  6. The article is more about projections and expectations than register receipts and may be self-promotion. My experience is that a lot of merchandise went unsold. No doubt online sales were up, but B&M sales are still so much more important that these stats do not make or break a BF. Also, there is the matter of returns. If the unsold stock blows out, I may return some of my purchases.

Were I a betting man, I would say that increased hours translated to increased traffic but that purchases were of less expensive items. Time will tell...

But were all those TV's left over the Door Buster TV's or were they just OK priced TV's that weren't such a great deal that stores put out in hopes that when they ran out of the doorbusters that they hoped people would buy? And no one did which is why they were leftover. My guess is that Best Buy didn't have any of their $199 42" TV's left and that Walmart didn't have stacks of their $98 TV's left?

  7. You can use a RR to pay for a different item from the same manufacturer. I used last weeks Scunci RR's from the barrettes to pay for the Scunci ponytail holders and I got the RR's for them.

Each item does not have to meet or exceed the value of the RR as long as the total $$ amount does at the end. You can use a $6 RR and a $2 RR to pay for a $7 and a $1 item.

It just takes a little while and a few mistakes to get the hang of the RR's and when you figure it all out they are great! I like them better than CVS ECB's because CVS has limits on everything and at Walgreens you can keep rolling them and get more than one of things you use. Walgreens cashiers used to be not so friendly about letting you do multiple transactions, but now they ask you if you want to split your transaction up, it was like overnight one day they all changed their policy on RR's.

  9. I wish there was. I was in a leg brace last year from mid-calf to mid-thigh. The Menards in Sioux City, Iowa was the worst. The "security" in the parking lot said that they didn't get enough money to do anything more than watch - think of a giant funnel of people pouring into 2 small doors. So even if you were in line, when the store opened, people came from everywhere and shoved those in the line out of the way. When you did get in, I was slammed against the metal railing at the entrance of the store where there is normally a small turnstill thing for people to enter. I had several large bruises from the experience. When I asked a store associate for assistance with getting an item off the shelf, they walked away. This summer I finally had my knee replaced so while I won't have the leg brace, I still need to think about what I'm doing so I don't reinjure it. Unfortunately, there are things I need at Menards b/c they actually have better deals than walmart and many of the other stores, so I might have to figure out a better game plan for shopping there. Standing in line in the Iowa cold for several hours is not an option, particularly as those in line get shoved out of the way regardless.

I wonder if all Menards are that bad because the one here is exactly the same. I have complained to corporate and the store manager and last year called the store before they opened and they didn't do anything. I wrote a letter to the newspaper but they called me and said that they don't print complaints about businesses. I guess someone has to get hurt there before they change anything. I want someone to video record it, it's just crazy!

  10. I am sick and been throwing up. I had to leave line last night very early. Will try to be back in line. I am on meds and need sleep. :(

I am upset and sorry for letting everyone down. :(

Get better soon bigjim, just worry about getting better so you can shop!
