  1. Thank you for the great ideas!:)
  2. What did you get your child for Christmas when he/she was a junior or senior in high school?
  3. We only have 3. This will be the 1st year with all of them. :) The past years we have had 2. In the playroom it has red lights as that is what the boys picked with all of the homemade ornaments. In the livingroom is the tree with the gifts under it. Everyother year it has all crystal/white glass ornaments with either all white lights or multicolored or ornaments we have specially picked out. We have a blue tree in the past (not our favorite) and one year we had an all white decorated tree (pretty but we really prefer the colored) Happy decorating!
  4. You guys are so creative! Our kids are now 13 and 15 so our Santa kicks are a little different. Last year Santa gave the boys a $50.00 bill in one of those puzzle boxes , they had to figure out the maze to get their cash. The year before Santa pappered off the living room so they could not sneak out and see their gifts. So many years we have missed the initial wow look This year our oldest is getting a new digital camera. So we went to the Disney store and found a view finder type of camera and will put that out "from" Santa. But then in a Chinese takeout container we will put the first clue to a scanvenger hunt. Then they will have the hunt to prolong a Christmas where there are few gifts to the $$$ of the gifts. Love the cute ideas for the younger crowd!

    Let's decorate

Halloween is over, right! So let's decorate for Christmas!!
  6. DH and myself went out yesterday and finished up as well! OK, I do need to pick up some batteries
  7. Yes we give from both Santa and ourselves. We give several gifts and Santa gives THE BIG GIFT, usually just one. If it has gadgets that go with it they are in the stocking. Depending on the gift but now that the boys are 13 and will be 16 for Christmas, Santa wraps his gifts. Snoopy little poops around here! This year it is only a gift from Santa and Mom and Dad as the must have's are rather pricey. There will be the 1 gift from Santa and Mom and Dad as the do work together , 1 too big for the stocking under the tree and their stocking. Of course they will have some from grandparents and aunts and uncles.
  8. We try and spend the same amount and get the same # of gifts. :) This year they will have 1 gift under the tree ( will not fit in the stocking) and gift from Santa. Plus their stocking but that is it. They are 13 and will be 16 for Christmas. The big gifts are expensive , they understand. Of course they will have gifts from grandparents and aunts and uncles. Lots fewer gifts but same amount from what we used to spend on them for toys.
  9. "0" minutes. Went to Wally, grabbed the 2 things wanted and actually had our pick of at least 3 cashers.
  10. Would have to go dig them out but we got ours from QVC:)

    charity gift trees

We used to buy for these trees but then I heard of a family where one child got much more than the other. I flet bad so we have not done it since. Yes, I agree that the gifts children are asking for a bit on the high $$ range.
  12. I am a Braille Embosser/Ed. Tech and have received many gifts, given many gifts and come back to... it is really the entire staff that have some contact with your/our children. So, how about a pointsettia for the office/teachers/copy room for all of us to enjoy? Donuts and coffee from the local donut shop on a Friday morning. A thank you card stating what the children are thankful for. A book donated to the library with thanks to all of them. People who are forgotton about, the bus drivers, library workers, duty monitors (lunch and recess), speech therapists, ot, pt, gym teacher, music teacher, art teacher... sorry Just my long $0.02 worth :)
  13. The boys are allowed to have their stockings before we eat. :) Then we have donuts, muffins, bagles, something like that, then we open gifts. However, they are older (12 and 14)and know we did not do it that way when they were younger.
  14. My family always has with the children who are in school. It is getting expensive though and not only am I scaling back who I send cards to I am doing the same with who I send pictures to. Really, am I the odd ball who just puts them with the rest of the pictures after we take the holiday decorations down? What do you do with the pictures you receive in cards??
  15. LOL, in the kitchen, in plain sight!! the doors WWAAYY up high and above the fridge:smart: Used to in the bedroom closet, have in the shed, grandparents, neighbors, under beds... One year I took labels to work and had a male write them out, one year DH took them to his work and had someone write them out Both want $$ this year, easy to hide but hard to find:yup:
  16. I don't tend to re-gift. After the holidays I gather up all that "OH THANK YOU!" stuff and take it to what we call our "What Not Shop". Sometimes I will save it for a yard sale, which I never end up having and thus take it to the What Not Shop:p
  17. www.disboards.com for sure!! Yes we have been to Disney World twice for Christmas! It is a magical time. Be sure to check out the different Santa's in Epcot. All of the parks and resorts will be beautifully decorated!! Happy Holidays!
