  1. 100% depends on what deals are available.  I don't mind dark and cold (not too bad in my area).

But unless theres something specific that I have a good chance of getting, I'll probably stay home.

Hard to beat shopping from the comfort of your recliner with lounging in your PJs

    Biscochitos                  Servings ~18 cookies

    Ingredients

    ·         3 cups all purpose flour

    ·         1 1/2 tsp baking powder

    ·         1/2 tsp salt

    ·         1/2 lb lard  (yes, LARD ..... you can use shortening but it won't be the same)

    ·         3/4 cup sugar (divided)

    ·         1 tsp anise seeds

    ·         1 egg

    ·         2 tbsp brandy

    ·         1 tsp ground cinnamon

    Instructions

1.Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

2.Add lard to a to a bowl and beat with an electric or stand mixer. Slowly add in 1/2 cup of sugar and continue beating for 8 – 10 minutes, until mixture is fluffy and light.

3.Add in anise seed, egg, and brandy.  Mix until blended.

4.Slowly add in flour mixture, beating well after each addition, and scraping the sides of the bowl as you go. Continue until mixture is fully incorporated and dough is similar to pie-crust.

5.Transfer dough to parchment paper and refrigerate 20 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees. (don't skip this, the dough needs to be cold)

6.After dough rests, roll dough out on a floured surface until it’s 1/4″ thick.

7.Use a cookie cutter or the lid of a mason jar to cut shapes out, transferring them to an ungreased cookie sheet.

8.Bake cookies in preheated oven for 10 – 12 minutes, until they start to lightly brown.

9.While the cookies are baking, mix together remaining 1/4 cup sugar with ground cinnamon.

10.Once cookies are baked, dip top of the cookie in the sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Store cookies in air-tight container for up to 2 weeks

  3. I have had zero enthusiasm to do anything fun for St. Patricks day....   blah.  Usually my weekends would be full of dashing here and there to either run or restock girl scout cookie booths.  lol

Not this time....  just hiding from bad weather inside and hoping for some signs of spring to come along soon.

    :coffeetim

  4. Its Girl Scout Cookie season in my neck of the woods.  Still dealing with pandemic restrictions though .....   my troop usually sells in excess of 20,000 boxes - (big troop = lots of cookies) but I'm guessing this year won't even be close.  Booths are not happening, so its up to indivdual girls.

on that note....  if you need some cookies, I know where you can order to have them shipped directly to you :D

  5. Seeing others post about health things got me off my butt and I finally scheduled a slew of appointments that have referrals for.  Gonna spend the next two weeks getting poked (labs), prodded (colonoscopy) and smashed (mammo) ....not to mention follow up for dental surgery ....  fun times  :woot2:

  6. A little late, but happy new year to all.

I hope each day that goes by makes things a little brighter for everyone.

And Brad - I'm in serious need of some new additions to my rubber jar opener helper thingies collection.  Just saying if you're looking for future bling ideas.... lol

  7. Saw lines at Target and Walmart - but I did drive thru pick up so it wasn't a big deal, in and out pretty fast.

Everything else I ordered online.  Best scores - the Home Depot stained glass birds (over half off) and riding boots dd has been begging for $19 rather than 70+.

The sales this year overall were pretty meh for me...  nothing that I "had to have"...  I did save money on some clothing items and sheets but nothing really amazing.

  8. Any thoughts on what the Wondershop or Pillowfort Seasonal flannel sheets in larger sizes than twin will go for?

It does say they will be on sale also, but does not list a price.  I usually get a couple sets either for personal use or to donate to a local charity that helps furnish Habitat for Humanity homes.

  9. I lurk here frequently - especially when I'm hunting for a particular item and want to see if its on sale or anticipated to be on sale.  But I've never been good at posting every month.

This shall be my one and only New Years resolution.  LMAO  I'm not likely to keep any the other ones anyway ... and at least I can set a reminder for this one.

Plus - I just love this site and I should participate more!
