A Chr-stmas morning favorite, both in my home and apparently among GottaDealers since I originally shared it back in 2005. Creme Brulee French Toast Serves 6-8 2 TBS corn syrup (light or dark) 1/2 Cup butter (stick) 1 Cup brown sugar, packed 1 Loaf French or white bread, thickly sliced - with the crust removed. 5 Eggs 1-1/2 Cups half & half 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp Grand Marnier or orange baking liqueur, 70% alcohol (optional) 1/4 tsp salt In a small saucepan combine the syrup, butter and brown sugar; simmer until syrupy. Pour this mixture into a 9" x 13" baking pan that has been sprayed with Pam. Set aside. Slice the loaf into thick slices, and place the syrup in the baking pan. Place the bread on top of the syrup. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla, Grand Marnier and salt. Pour evenly over the bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, leave the casserole at room temperature while the oven preheats. Bake at 350ºF uncovered, for 45 minutes. Cut into squares and serve immediately. Serve with maple syrup and butter. (Can be reheated)

Here in the State of Washington, elections are handled on the County level. Ballot tracking is on the County Elections website. You should find information on your official election website about ballot tracking.

That's a holiday at this time of year, nu? I'm starting this thread with Brad's permission. The thread is to remind and encourage US citizens to cast their votes this year. It is not a place to discuss politics, candidates, or one's disenchantment with the whole proceeding. Brad has told me point blank that if this gets contentious, it will be instantly deleted. We have been warned. So, here in The Evergreen State, we have been voting by mail since 2005. That said, we have official election drop boxes, so although our ballots arrive with a postage paid return envelope, expectations are that the closer we get to election day, the longer the lines to get to the drop boxes will be. For example, this was the line to get to the drive through drop box for our most recent primary election: Our ballots were mailed out to us on Monday. I received mine on Wednesday, filled it out, and brought it to the drop box on Thursday. Thankfully, there were no lines. Today I checked the status of my ballot online. So, I can poudly say: How is the process going for you? Have you received your ballot yet? Are you voting early, or waiting for Election Day itself? Whatever your plans, get out there and vote!

To all who scored on the deal:

IMO, there's no way it will be the same as attending in person. And, for me, $30 is a bit much for a live stream event. But, it may be worthwhile for those who have never been to a live show, and I'm sure there are hardcore fans for whom attending the shows are an annual tradition. Plus... This may be the first Holiday show in a long time where the group won't be divided in to East/West touring troupes. hmm... https://tsolivestream.com/tso/livestream/

I so want to try for the 43" tonight, but there are several caveats... First, due to being immunocompromised from my ongoing walking chemotherapy, and the school buildings not being open, where I work as a substitute clerical employee, I've had no income since March. So, what I do spend needs to be focused on gift giving. If I got the tv, it would be for me, as I don't have one of my own. Second, I rent a room in a single family house. All of my personal belongings are stored in my room. Other than putting it on the wall, I have no place to set it up. And I'm pretty sure the couple I rent from would not appreciate me installing wall mounting hardware. So, I'm probably better off passing on trying for this deal. But it looks like a good one! I look forward to reading about everyone's success at scoring one.

hmm... Is the deadline to register earlier this year than in years past? If so, then yeah. Send an email explaining why, and that you didn't want them to miss the opportunity to participate due to them not knowing. I do miss the inclusion of posts from the forum at the bottom of the GottaDeal emails. I think this one should have definitely been included in them to get the word out to those who don't stop by the forum regular throughout the year.

I shared this already in len_mullen's Gift Ideas thread, but I can't stress enough how beautiful this us for those in to astronomy. Since the astrophysicist Dr. Brian May is involved, it may also appeal to fans of the band Queen. Cosmic Clouds 3-D: Where Stars Are Born by Eicher, May, and Metsavainio
-
Beautiful! Which recipe did you finally settle on?
-
If anyone is in to astronomy, I highly recommend Cosmic Clouds by Eicher and May. It's a beautiful, beautiful book.

*nod* Be certain the monthly post is in the GottaDeal 2021 Black Friday Prize Posting Club thread. Posting anywhere else on the forum doesn’t count for the prize. I do my good luck Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit! posts in the Prize Posting Club thread on my first visit to the forum the first of each month, just in case I don't have anything else to say the rest of the month. ...not that that has happened yet, I don't think. But, just in case, it still counts.

That's a beauty, len. Can you get additional baskets for it, so you air fry cook multiple layers of food at the same time? My air fryer oven has three baskets, but even using all three, I can just barely fit two dozen wings in single layers to air fry at one time.

Huzzah to the winners!

Many recipes for challah are similar. I think the one I make uses a lot more yeast than most, and the adding the additional flour a cup at a time (I use bread flour, not all purpose) seems to make a difference. All I know is this challah comes out much more tender than other recipes I've tried. We really prefer it.

We had the babka for dessert tonight, with Break Fast. I highly recommend this recipe. It came out really good!

In the Low Carb thread in the Lounge, Fresia asked what challah recipe I use. Since challah is eaten for nearly all Jewish holidays (except Passover and any holiday which involves fasting, except at the end of the fast) I figured the recipe would fit in better here, since it is not a low carb food. This recipe can be found online, but the versions I have seen appear to leave out some steps. This copy has all the steps I follow, although I use my KitchenAid to mix and knead the dough, and my Instant Pot for the first rise. Use the paddle in the KA on low to k7x the dry and wet ingredients together, then the dough hook for about 10 minutes on medium. Use the glass lid to proof the dough on Yogurt Less in the IP; you do not want to risk the dough rising in to the lockable lid. I'll post a photo of my doygh in the IP under the recipe.

Thank you! The little spiral on the right side was made from what scraps I wasn't able to combine in to another layer. We split that and ate it as soon as it was cool enough, before the holiday fast began. I'm hoping sitting overnight with the other half of the syrup, covered by the flour sack towel allowed the syrup to penetrate the dough. The spiral was a little tough for my taste. The flavor was excellent, though.

Yesterday this non-baker took on a new baking project for Break Fast after sunset tonight. Here is my first ever chocolate babka, and done in a shape of a star. Recipe is from Frum It Up. She posted it on YouTube, but I had to email her for the written instructions.
